I'm no expert but my view is that drum n bass is a "technical" term in that it describes any music of a certain speed (say 165-185bpm?) with a focus on drums and, er, bass. So it's not mutually exclusive with downbeat as a classification - both apply, as downbeat is more descriptive of mood (or of the fact that the emphasis is on the downbeat?).

Anyways, its frickin amazing is what it is.

Yeah sure, UNKLE(a DJ Shadow and James Lavelle collaboration) have a pretty similar sound. And for nice remixes look for the album: "Radio Soulwax part 2" by 2 many djs. Alot of the stuff by Aphex twin is also quite similar, but you have to sift through alot of weird shit to find it. Check out the moving shadow record label for dark DnB. Nightmares on wax have good tunes too. Bonobo, thievery corporation, lamb, terranova are all very nice.
