Et puis, c'est aussi ridicule! Qu'est-ce qu'ils font avec la peinture au visage, ce n'est pas un exercise urbaine comme quelqu'un a dit?? Je pense que même les soldats ont de la honte et ils veulent pas etre reconus.. ;D

If u do that kind of training at other places in the world, i think it'll only cause panic. It's so amazing to watch France people cooperate with the military, knowing that type of training is important in protecting them in the future.
Of course they are foreign legion, dont you hear their accent?? Not all of course because they are many french in the FFL but most of them. That's for sure. They use blanks bullets, the girl and the guy witht the camera say it at 5:23 ;)
I dont think they are paras, I think they are not from the 2nd REP (regiment etranger de parachutiste) so they are not paras because the REP train in Corsica and they ppl in the video are speaking with the south accent :)
Huh,that's fucked up. All over the world there specially build "cities" for CQB/MOUT training. What if a civilian gets a heart attack from the shooting and all?
That's my opinion. Since the civilians are "ghosts" and not targets, they serve absolutely no function for the training. The only advantage is that the teams have to "navigate" a place they don't know. Otherwise, I think its a PR & recruitment scheme .
In France civilians got the free health care, and everybody is in good health, it is an old system for us, but for you it is SciFi so I understand that you are surprised :p
I love the way the French do things. From experience, the British Army would never do this for fear of upsetting people. Also Health & Safety would have a field day due to possible injury to civilians from the flash of a blank round.
Hope they are there the next time I fly in to Rodez.

Indeed I lived in Rodez close to the center. I remember hearing gun fire that morning and thinking what the hell? Then remembered that it was time for training again. I do miss Rodez not much to do there but it's a very nice little village.
whit all those civilians in the way,how do they know if they hit the bad guy or not? I get that this is an exercise,but still would be kinda hard to knew who hit who. but the french legion are good at what they do make no mistakes about that
The British Army would also probably be supplied with maps for the area covered. Look closeely ; they're using maps supplied by the local tourist office !

This is probably on purpose since getting a DIY way of thinking is part of the FFL training.
Unlike other troops (particularly US Forces) who rely a lot on equipment.
