I think this was Kelly's best performance on American Idol and I wish they would do the 1940s week again. That era really shows off vocal skills more than any other style. anyone can do crappy riffs and runs, but it is rare to find singers who can sing like this.

What I think makes her performance of this song so great is that she's having fun doing it. She's better when he's enjoying herself, or "feeling it". If she's doing a performance because she has too, she's still good but not as good. IMO

Good God in Heaven. You have said, exactly, word for word, right here--what I have been thinking ever since she won that first season. I have tried to watch AI since, and indeed have, but... There is no other person who so embodies the notion of the American Idol for me. And THIS is the actual performance that got me to sit up and take notice. I live in Colombia and the show is aired here just by Pay-per-view. I saw this performance just a couple of months ago, and OMG this girl is amazing. Kelly, LaKisha and Fantasia are the most impressive I've heard and seen. I don't like Carrie, Jordin, Taylor that much.
