GOD Americans are really pussy's... 80% of people in europe 'drive stick' it aint that fukin hard its not a ufo.. automatic is for fat guys that have no drive skill and cant be bothered to take their hands off the wheel.. When i drive i like to have control over exactly when my car shifts.. your supposed to drive your car not the other way around..
I just started to learn how to shift in my new (first) car, the hardest part for me is just going from a stop to a start, letting the clutch out slow enough I seem to find very challenging. Any advice?
@405dude yeah man that was my biggest issue and probably everyones biggest issues starting to drive stick. I think my advice might make sense because this helped me and i have only been driving for a few days. When starting at a first gear what i do is i let my foot off the clutch to about half way (for my car at least) and the car starts to kinda move forward, at that point i apply gas and start releasing the rest of the clutch slowly. (you can prob do this now since this comment is 2month old)
@405dude ok, yeah you've probably got the hang of it now but if you want an easy way out just apply gas untill about 2 - 3 thousand rpm then release clutch you shud have a adequately quick launch without stalling even if you release clutch too quickly
@28monkeyking28 yes you should take your foot off the accelerator and no do not add more every stand transmission is different there is a certain amount of gas you get give it to make a smooth ride
@28monkeyking28 you take your foot off the gas when you change gears while the clutch in, only time you add gas when your shifting gears, releasing clutch is if your jolting alot when letting the clutch out when your going into the next gear, but you dont need much gas
Hey, I have a problem with my car jolting severely when I upshift even if I try to let the clutch out slowly. Would letting the clutch out faster make a difference? What do you suggest?
@tehampto whenever you drive, try and focus on the RPM each time it shifts up. you want to get an idea of what RPM the next gear will spin at. once you got it down by ear or however you do it, you need to push the gas to that RPM, hold it there, and then slowly release the clutch until it hooks on. . . You'll start being able to do this naturally and fast. that's the best way to avoid jolting, skidding, stalling, or anything else like that.

Letting the clutch out faster won't help. Probably the best way to smooth it out is to give it a little gas as you are releasing the clutch.

Thanks bro...I appreciate it. I will try that and see what comes of it.

Yeah this work for me.

@tehampto As long as you're bringing the clutch across the grab point slowly it doesn't matter how fast you pull it out the rest of the way...
