i'm doing a social studies project on the khmer rouge. it was pretty bad. :( i dont understand what they were talking about when they started discussing the argkor empire and thai invasion. I'm glad i learned about this though.

Vietnam in the 60's and 70's is so bad ass. Total liberators if you ask me. First they throw out the Americans and unify their country. Then they beat back a failed invasion by China and then liberate Cambodia from the evil clutches of the Khmer Rouge! GO VIETNAM! If only Ho Chi Minh lived to see his country in action. He'd be proud.

I don't intent to sound colonial, neither do I support the colonialism of Cambodia but I often wonder how different things would be had we stay under France. Meaning, would we have become more influential globally and more developed? Even more so then the 'tigers" Thailand or the "crocodile" Vietnam? Even though colonialism imposes the beliefs/tradition, or even religion, of those foreigners, I believe that the Khmer are deeply rooted and will never internally submit, will always be Khmer.

Did you live through the KR's regime or not? If so, you would never ever say that the KR did not kill anyone. I did live through it and confirm that the KR and not the Vietnamese killed many of his countrymen.

It is true that Vietnamese is behind the killing during Khmer Rouge regime.

The KR are responsible, dont try to shift the blame. The KR ran the country during 75 to 79 & that's when the killings happened. The Vietnamese occupied Cambodia from 79 to 89, so i dont see how they could be responsible.

A lot of the former KR cadres in the north west of the country would tell the their kids that the Viets were responsible for the killings.

One thing is, the killing fields don't exists. The second, you guys need to do your research. During the beginning of the Khmer Rouge Regime and genocide started when the Vietnamese traveled into the Cambodian's borders to hide in the fields. And ever heard of the Pentagon Papers of Nixon's bombing of Cambodia? I'll let you guys finish the research.

Operation "Menu", was the secret bombings held in Cambodian territory and it wasn't Nixon, it was passed onto Nixon from the previous administration who kicked it off.
