i signed in just to dislike this vid. I was going to buy the fr-s, but seeing how ugly Scion had changed it made me realize that I would rather buy a different car. Come on Scion, you just lost one valuable customer, and also 27 others as well.
You have ruined the car by changing the look from the concept car. I, like many others, was totally stocked and actually planning on buying one when your concept car was debuted. But, the final product is not impressive anymore. The only hope it has, is that an aftermarket company will build a body kit to bring it back to life and raise some pulses. Or better yet, how about Scion offers a kit, or a "track" version of the car with the concept bodywork...
Say what you want, this car is still beastlier in appearance then the Subaru. And honestly, with a bit of tuning you can make it look as good or better then the original concept.
Scion's motto for the xB really applies to the entire Company: Love it or Hate it. For those who hate it, Fuck you! For those who love it, keep buying Scion-because they are the best cars I've ever driven in.

WOW, the majority of people bitching and moaning about the car are either 13-15 yr olds and/or have no idea how cars move from concept to production. Cars NEVER look exactly like their concept, because of COST! If you made the product exactly like the concept, retail would be 3-4 times the MSRP.

I emailed five axis about the difference between the concept and the production model. I was told that to make the concept version of the car as the production model it would cost $150k to make. They will however becoming out with a very cool aero kit for the car.

My main reason for writing this is both companies tried to copy the Genesis Coupe and now that hyundai just upgraded there inline four -->TURBO<-- to direct injection....hyundai is going to dominate sales this year unless Subaru makes an affordable STI version of the BRZ.

It's INTENDED to be similar in dimension and have the same engine! And it IS going for cheaper. Of course, I don't know by how much, but it's going to be made with cheaper materials. And...Subaru HAS made a (concept) BRZ STI, which seems likely to become a production model.

They design them to be similar to competition, but to be better so people buy from them. Do you understand the concept of "keeping up with the market?" Saying they copied the Genesis coupe is like saying the Chevy Silverado copied the Ford F-150. Just because something new is similar to something already existing doesn't mean it's a copy...

The body weights similar and the outputs are as well, but when you look to aerodynamics scion takes it and response of dampers in the suspension the subaru is better! The sti will make production but maybe not until next summer, they pushed up the dates alone on this base model! But market wise, if you want to compete with a similar car like the gen coupe, you need a motor that will also output the same ponies TURBO

I don't get what everyone is having a conniption for it still looks pretty cool. I admit not as cool as the concept car, but still really awesome. It's way more rounded out and I'm sure they did this to help with speed and control. Stop whining because Scion rocks no matter what.
2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe has further massaged its engine to the tune of 345 hp and 295 lb-ft of twist. That means the Korean coupe will put down more horsepower than many of its American and Japanese six-cylinder rivals, specifically the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Nissan 370Z. Why would you spend $ 25k plus for a FR-S ( Freaking Retarded- Scion ) go-cart with only 200hp when you can buy the 2013 Genesis Coupe for the same price tag??

@jeffsandychelsea Those concepts are just meant to show where their design and technology is headed. To even make these cars they need to decide on a price, then engineers and accountants determine the price of every part of the car, the factory overhead, and the wage hours it takes to build it under that given price. If they find that such and such part or design aspect will end up costing too much they scrap it and redesign it to fit under those restraints.
@jeffsandychelsea mass producing the concept would require retooling the whole factories. by sticking to the design but offering more conventional shapes and panels, they don't have to spend tons on new machines that are capable of building convex body panels and contoured skins. if they were to mass produce the concept, it would raise its msrp to well above what you can afford and you'd be complaining for another reason.
@jeffsandychelsea most car companies save a TON of money by using certain designs from their other cars, and by cutting corners in certain areas. the money it costs to water down a design is much less significant than the money they save by doing so. People will still buy the car, and they cost less to make. i like the concept better, but like most other car companies, the final product will be a less curvy, more standard, easy-to-make design. Also, notice any lexus similarity
If all you are doing is complain about the looks you're missing the point. This car is about the drive, don't make judgements until you try one. Look at any review of this car and you'll see what I mean.

Although I might still buy the car if a sport pkg can be purchased. It must include!!! Leather Seats of color Black/Red/Brown/Orange/Tan, The 19/20" rims from the Fr-s concept, a more aggressive front and rear bumper (Like the one on concept), side skirts, A nice rear spoiler, Other tail lights and headlights(Fr-s concept ones) and some LEDs on front bumper that distinguishes the car from the pack.
I was going to buy this car. NOW I am NoT!!!. Scion Engineers have RUINED the car. The rims are worse than the Forte Coupe's. Where are the leather seats?? The interior is very ugly and the car does not even look aggressive anymore. The head & tail lights look terrible. Why?? Why?? did you ruined the car. You should've kept it the way it was. Oh! and the antenna should be replaced for the shark one (BMW style).
@kestkr I know its a shame that they became so cheap comparing the 2gen tc with the 1gen you can tell the 2gen its a lot cheaper,I have owned both and the first one uses better materials for the interior, the big problem know is that their transmissions suck, they probably use Chinese parts internnaly, I did notice that the speakers are made in china when I fixed the rattle on the door covers, so definitively Toyotas are not like before :(

I own a TC an it has been the biggest disappointment, the car looks great rides very nice but the quality is terrible, I ended up fixing the moon roof my self because the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem I had to tear down the interior in order to remove the headliner and do the proper fix, at 4k the transmission started clunking bad Toyota states its normal,I have driven manual for 30 years and never had this problem, my previous 2gen xb was just problems too. No more Toyo's for me...
I love the car.. but the American version is watered down and appears to have less options than the Toyota that will be sold in other countries. If Scion does not offer the EXACT same options available to the rest of the world then you are doing a deserves to your American buyers. Some of us are sick and tired of getting a lesser product than the rest of the world. At least make all the same options available to Americans. Let us decide on our options. And no, "Go buy a Subaru" is not an option.

@jeffsandychelsea Those concepts are just meant to show where their design and technology is headed. To even make these cars they need to decide on a price, then engineers and accountants determine the price of every part of the car, the factory overhead, and the wage hours it takes to build it under that given price. If they find that such and such part or design aspect will end up costing too much they scrap it and redesign it to fit under those restraints.

@jeffsandychelsea mass producing the concept would require retooling the whole factories. by sticking to the design but offering more conventional shapes and panels, they don't have to spend tons on new machines that are capable of building convex body panels and contoured skins. if they were to mass produce the concept, it would raise its msrp to well above what you can afford and you'd be complaining for another reason.

@jeffsandychelsea most car companies save a TON of money by using certain designs from their other cars, and by cutting corners in certain areas. the money it costs to water down a design is much less significant than the money they save by doing so. People will still buy the car, and they cost less to make. i like the concept better, but like most other car companies, the final product will be a less curvy, more standard, easy-to-make design. Also, notice any lexus similarity

@just527 I not to found on the looks, but knowing it being built after the gt800,gt200, and corolla ae86 gts it's going to be a great car, plus they say 200hp and 150 tq, with rear wheel drive, and that light of a car it will be easy to drift in it..

@IntentionaI 25,000 yes for 25,000 they should strap some 5 point hardness in, with some sport racing drift seats, and a turbo. also this looks like two much along the lines of a tc.. If i see this in the streets, i'm going to say the gen 3 tc's are already here..

Although I might still buy the car if a sport pkg can be purchased. It must include!!! Leather Seats of color Black/Red/Brown/Orange/Tan, The 19/20" rims from the Fr-s concept, a more aggressive front and rear bumper (Like the one on concept), side skirts, A nice rear spoiler, Other tail lights and headlights(Fr-s concept ones) and some LEDs on front bumper that distinguishes the car from the pack.

I was going to buy this car. NOW I am NoT!!!. Scion Engineers have RUINED the car. The rims are worse than the Forte Coupe's. Where are the leather seats?? The interior is very ugly and the car does not even look aggressive anymore. The head & tail lights look terrible. Why?? Why?? did you ruined the car. You should've kept it the way it was. Oh! and the antenna should be replaced for the shark one (BMW style).

@kestkr I know its a shame that they became so cheap comparing the 2gen tc with the 1gen you can tell the 2gen its a lot cheaper,I have owned both and the first one uses better materials for the interior, the big problem know is that their transmissions suck, they probably use Chinese parts internnaly, I did notice that the speakers are made in china when I fixed the rattle on the door covers, so definitively Toyotas are not like before :(

I own a TC an it has been the biggest disappointment, the car looks great rides very nice but the quality is terrible, I ended up fixing the moon roof my self because the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem I had to tear down the interior in order to remove the headliner and do the proper fix, at 4k the transmission started clunking bad Toyota states its normal,I have driven manual for 30 years and never had this problem, my previous 2gen xb was just problems too. No more Toyo's for me...

I love the car.. but the American version is watered down and appears to have less options than the Toyota that will be sold in other countries. If Scion does not offer the EXACT same options available to the rest of the world then you are doing a deserves to your American buyers. Some of us are sick and tired of getting a lesser product than the rest of the world. At least make all the same options available to Americans. Let us decide on our options. And no, "Go buy a Subaru" is not an option.
