The best thing out of abiko is the Joban sen/Narita sen. Anywhere north or south. Maybe a couple of stops on the Joban sen you could get lost in Kashiwa, and at least go to a few good Izakayas

You got off at a random suburban station? Ha ha, to me, it's not a random place: that's where my in-laws live (10,000 km from my place - Brussels - is quite fine: at least there's no way they can be obtrusive!). So, next time you get lost in Abiko, give me a ring. I know the place pretty well ;-)
