  • how the fuck would people just walk around when a flood is comeing and there home is being flooded

  • my friends house got flooded in Palo. Thank god the water didn't reach my grandparent's place.

  • i was scared so much when this happened

  • the pictures i found the most striking, were the police going under the 5-in-1 bridge, and they could touch the beams ofthe road above!

  • hahahha i live there but on a nice hill no was killed of course but yeah down is as active as was.

  • man was it bad if u did not live in cedar rapids u do not no how it felt and i live in cedar rapids

  • @Missjosie257 so do i and it sucked. my grandpa was in the flood. it almost flooded half his house. and my dads friend had water up to his neck on his 1st floor.

  • i was ther after the flooding, cleaning with a company in the public library, it is terrifying to see how far the water went

  • wow i can't belive how bad that was and i used to live there in CR

  • this summer sucked, thank god it didnt happen again in 09, that would have been fucked up for our community

  • we were going to a town north of cedar rapids but we thought why not check out the flood, when we got out of the car... let's just say i hope i never have to smell that again... it was badddd

  • My house got hit HARD. The whole basement was flooded and halfway up the 2nd story. After about a year the house looks as good as new. It took a lot of work, but it was very hard. Sometimes I think this flood happened for a reason, so we could make some changes.

  • it was sad

  • i lived literually 3 blocks from where it started Ellis blvd

  • i hated this damn summer it sucked

  • if you guys just lived threw this flood then you would know how horrible and scary it is! I know most of you that r leaving comments did but wasn't it scary?? for like a week the water was like past the Crown Plaza!! usually, the water would be 12 feet deep. Well when this flood happened, it was triple that. Yep. 36 feet deep.

  • 31.12 feet actually.

  • Worst summer ever.

    Cedar Rapids

  • i was in this flood it was horalbe

  • This was the first day of flooding. i live here in cedar rapids. it was truely horrible

  • i put some sandbags down

  • they didnt work did they

  • omg; tthat made this summer suckk sooo bad; it effing flooded my effing house;...luckily we repaired it,but lots of people in iowa lost their homes):

    i was sandbagging!

    woott!

  • The Cedar Rapids Public Library (downtown) lost its young adult, humor, adult and humor books, along with the CDs, videos, and DVDs!

  • That is the greatest loss (in my opinion). They are also saying that the childrens books on the second floor are ruined due to the concentrated flood water fumes.

  • Sad, I enjoyed bringing my children there, and I really liked the library.

  • Davenport loves you and your in our prayers

  • thank you so much.

thanks for all the support from other citys and states.

  • I wish you had added some narration so we know what buildings or part of the city we are seeing.

  • omg. I cant believe they had to evacuate Mercy. It just kills to see how much higher the flood is now. Fortuantly im on a hill so i ddint get anything. But i HAVE cried for these people. They lost everything, and barley enought money to get it all back.

  • Right. This isn't the New York metro area, Chicago or Los Angeles where people have enormous wealth. Unless the Feds bail them out the people without flood insurance are devastated.

  • That includes many businesses and cultural milestones. The Library lost ALL of its materials. The Paramount is devastated, and the Science Station/IMAX is just ruined.

  • I think they should turn the downtown into a giant park and move the corporate sector uptown completely out of the flood zone. What's to stop this from happening again?

  • At the moment, nothing. It would be impractical to move everything out. You would have to move the largest cereal factory in the world, city hall, a couple of 20+ story buildings, and so on. It isn't just some small part of town, this is the majority of downtown of a 160,000 city.

  • Understood.

  • Don't forget the GTC/Burlington Trailways/Montessori School building.

  • In addition to Quaker, Penford (a major factory) would have to be moved.

  • Quaker is staying where it is for now.

  • exactly.

  • According to inside sources, the toilets at Mercy were geysering up with sewage.

  • This is one of the best videos i've seen..really gives a good perspective of the severity of things. 5 stars!

  • me too

  • sadly.... me three

  • thats just amazing and horrible at the same time....CHECK OUT MY VIDS OF THE FLOOD

  • Even worse now...

    /watch?v=3VnLf4Cw5c4
