  • Thanks for the tutorial man.. I just need to ask..whats the use of the keyboard? If everything can be done in the program itself, then wouldn't a keyboard just mean spending extra money?

I'm surely going to use sony acid for my music work. And if a keyboard is actually helpful, I'm surely going to get one. If you could reply to this, I'll really appreciate it. And thanks..

  • @TheNineOone Because in the time it takes to program a single chord using just the program, I could play an entire 8 bar piano part by using the keyboard.

  • Props man

  • Much respect man! Keep laying dope beats!

  • Great tutorial! I just recently purchased Sony Acid Music Studio 8 and this is the very first music software I've ever purchased and you did a fantastic job of explaining the controls to me; much better than the 'how to' context tutorial did. Heh.

It's a shame for me to say that I have no other source of external music production, (Like your keyboard, record player, and such), but I'll try my best!

Thank you for this guide. :)

  • @immeyouhe Best of luck. Glad I could help.

  • wait so can u record on acid pro 6 u know vocals..cuz i have a mic and stuff but i have this maudio device that uses a usb and connects to my pc and i can connect mics on that and guitars and what not..but idk how to sett it up in acid pro so i can record vocals????

  • @Uzi093 yes, that's what the big red record button is for.

  • im not a hip hop producer, i do drum n bass, but good tips nonetheless. i think it applies to any style of music, more or less. ive been using acid pro for the better part of 11 years now and its really come a long way. and i like how you pointed out that it is professional quality software. i hear alot of people try to say that it isnt, but having used just about every other kind of producing software out, i think acid is the probably the easiest to use, even if you have no producing experience

  • @TheDjhavikk I agree, it's the workflow that makes this program stand out from others.

  • no prob. i didnt come here to hate, just peepin acid users.

  • @DEVIZEQLD Just responding, no hard feelings.

  • prolly the longest way of sampling in acid. Record in an audio editor (cool edit) chop in there. Wack that back in acid, loop, chop, pitch whatever but ffs stay away from beatmapper. Samples not bad on this vid but ya drums are lacking.

  • @DEVIZEQLD my drums are lacking... I guess you're entitled to your opinion, but do be aware that this is an instructional video I made for high school students 4 years ago as supplemental resource for their brief Sony ACID software course.

Also, your way is perfectly fine-- it's how I sample. However, expecting a person who has never made a beat to be able to place a sample in time without the aid of something like the beatmapper is unreasonable.

  • I got far more out of this then I did the Sony "Help" file. Wish they knew the basics of communication. Thank You for posting this video!

  • @RodTod11 Wish they'd hire me. Thanks :)

  • I love how you did the intro like its MTV Cribs xD

  • I have a small segment of recorded vocal (1.3 second). How do I create a loop out of it with its original tempo being preserved? Clip properties interface automatically adjusts to project tempo when the loop type is selected. I don't want that because it distorts the vocal segment.

  • I'm using acid pro 7

  • Nice!

  • First of all, I appreciate all of your help and quick responses when it comes to using Acid. Now I am ready to add my pellas (mash ups). What is the best way to sync pellas in Acid? I have a turntable and mixer that I could use (Line in of the computer) or should I use the beatmapper and chop the verses to match up. Do you have a preference? Thanks again!! Peace!!

  • greetings from Melbourne Australia. You know your stuff. I am enjoying your vids! Peace.

  • hey, i have my keyboard plugged in into my laptop. i can record and everything...i just don't know how to hear what i'm playing while i'm recording. what do i need to do? or what do i need? please help :/

  • so you just record all your drums sounds in one at a time to be pasted in a project at a later time?

  • How do you program your keyboard sounds to acid?

  • Acid pro is only for windows, looks like its rivalry to logic which is only for mac

  • @PdubzCrew Yes sir, and they are really similar. Logic is probably more stable in terms of live recording.

  • @jacksonwonderful

By the way thanks for this clip it taught me a lot ! keep hip hop alive.

    God bless

  • How can one use their stock yamaha keyboard sounds? and program them to use on sony acid?

  • I use acid at my house, but at school they make us use logic. It seems like Logic is just a pretty version of acid. idk. Maybe I just haven't learned enough in class yet. I like Acid.

  • @allupinyourgrillxxx Funny you should say that-- the main programmer who worked on ACID also worked on Logic.

  • @jacksonwonderful My psychic abilities are sometimes a blessing and other times a curse.

  • My problem is my drum loops sound great and my one-shot drums not so much. Any advice on drumming with acid?

  • hey, where do you get the files of the seperate one hit percussion sounds?

  • hi, can i make a simple delay in stereo mode . or do i have to do it manually?

  • hey! thanks alot man. youve helped me so much though my beat making process. Definity the best tutorials on youtube. check out my songs on my page if u like!!!

  • can you use most controllers with this software to make beats

  • @MossSmurff yes, any.

  • Peace Pain1, you seem to be a real humble dude, thats peace, even wit the ignorant stuff people say, good look on the vids, learned some tips about pitching the snares for the ill rolls, yo Much success peace

  • @PremePromotions That's my next video.

  • @PremePromotions Uploaded it last night.

  • hey man, dumb question, but i was recording in sony acid 7 and i clicked webcam because i wanted to record me through it while recording my music. now when i record vocals in the program, it picks up the webcam mic instead of my mic, can you help me out?

  • does acid work with my mpc.. Iknow dumb question.

  • @antonymm18 It's not a dumb question at all. The MPC does transmit MIDI data, so yes, it works with ACID. How it works is a different story though. Your best bet is to look into VST samplers so you can more or less do the same thing you do with the MPC (punching out drums and samples) but with sounds stored on your computer and with ACID's easy interface/efx capabilities.

  • hope u got more than one screen now

  • @SteBATW watch the other videos and find out.

  • Very nice tutorial man. Thanks for takin' the time!

  • Doesn't ACID have a Drum Sequencing option? Like Sonar? Hell! Even Dance Ejay has one! But yeh.. Thats a lot of agro yo!

  • @therealKINDLE ... didn't I just sequence drums in the video? there's midi as well-- pretty standard. any vst drum sampler is supported as well.

  • @jacksonwonderful You Sequenced yes. But You sequenced Loops. Not Seperate Drums, is what I was getting at. nothing Detrimental man.. What you are doing here is comendable. The Acid Software could do with a Drum Sequencing Tool Like in FL, Sonar, Reaper, Pro-Tools, etc.

  • @therealKINDLE watch the whole video homie. I don't use drum loops, I only sequence with one-shots.

  • i use to have that same desktop at 2:43 :)

  • were can i get samples like the kick and snare and all those

  • whats is the name of sample 4:08

  • Hello ^.^ I just bought this program and I was wondering on how to get started. I really want to try to become a singer and I was curious if you think this program could help me get my path started. Any suggestions/tips/guides?

  • 2:58 what song is that?

  • hey man, could u tell m some programs wich can separate the vocals from the the instrument,if u knw wht i mean..thx

  • @Ayllag

it wont sound nice, its better to use pure vocals

  • What is the song you play on the record at the beginnig?

  • Quality shit once again my guy. I been using Acid for some years and making hot ass tracks but its cooler than a polar bear's nutsack on New Years to be able to learn some new tricks with it.

  • hi

how can i record samples straight into acid and then break them down to the seperate components?

e.g. a whole drum loop cut into snare, cymbal, kick etc

  • great video (and part 2)! thanks a lot for helping us newbies out here in interweb land! much appreciated.

  • R.I.P. Teddy Pendergrass. :-(

  • so dope!

  • are you using acid pro or acid music studio?

what would be the benefit of using pro over music studio?

    keep doing your thing !

  • Go to the sony creative software website and check out the differences.

I use pro and pro only because it supports midi, recording, professional plug-ins and a lot more.

  • Thanks! !

    That really helped

    Keep making those tight beats

  • Is it possible to make beats without any other equipment? (keyboard etc)

  • buy a mpc!

  • Get a music career!

  • @jacksonwonderful I prefer to use my midi drumpad for drums. How do I edit them to the right measure after? I think I use "Midi inlide editing", but I dont really know how.

  • Thanks a lot!!!!

  • i 'm a blendist dj my first 'digital" mixtape was with acid pro i will be put some up during the course of this week it will be uderpoundsounds2009 in search bar i did all of the mixing with 7.0 acid what you did here i have never been able to get into scared i was goona ose work i did some of it took 3 days othere sorter/ longer but hey it the way it comes out can you get keygen codes for this 7,0 i need onemine had a virus attached

  • How do you unloop the instrument? So there won't be distortion?

  • Man, Old School Way of making music! Digital technology has changed! Thats why everybodies on FL Studio now! The program is AMAZING! you can sample just as good if not better, then most, I wont say you though Pain! You The Man! Keep Em Trippin On Acid Timmothy LOL!

  • can someone tell me why da drum kits on acid dont work on my one?

  • you probably don't have to midis saved onto your drive, and you probably don't want them saved onto your drive because it takes up space. make sure the disk is in the drive

  • Hey man very good tutorial, very basic and simple,

    Q: Whats a one shot?

wea u based man? thanx foa the tutorial again really makes mixin clearer now w/ sony acid, im usin 7, cheers bro,

    DJ BOOPETZ

  • a "one-shot" is an audio sample that is NOT a loop...hence one shot.

  • @ mangerstyle87

A one shot is just what the name implies, a one time sound timed & synced as such. The opposite of this would be a loop. In Acid if you try to stretch a one shot it'll just be that one sound, a loop will automatically repeat itself as you stretch the sample on the track. Hope that makes since.

  • Do the drum set come with the program?

  • search piratebay for arty's loop & sample torrents. Great collections on there for you to start with. Interwebz is full of places you can get a shit ton of sample libraries from, just gotta search a bit for them. Or do what a lot of us digital DJ types do, use FL Studio to make your sample & then the simplicity of ACID to arrange them in your tracks.

  • Hey pain, is there anyway to help get some nice one shots

  • A cuz Dat Teddy P. Kuul B That jam at 7:42 IZZZZZZZZ NASTEEE. Where Dat at!!

  • can anybody tell me where i can get a really good drum kit for free or if u can email me one or something

  • Great video, nice job!

  • Hey guys, could someone tell me how to change the bass, mids and the treble or the tempo in in a single (individual) song/track in the timeline in sony acid pro 7? I'm kinda new to sony acid so I could really use some help.

  • Don't ask more than once please.

  • what is that the MPC - i didnt hear it properly....

  • Very helpful.Thank u 4 taking the time 2 post it.

  • Nice work, I don't even make music anymore but I still found this pretty interesting! Nice editing and self presentation.

  • Teddy Pendergrass - Close the Door, very nice Dj Pain1

  • thanks for the tutorial, it helped me learn a few things about acid i needed to know. overall, it was pretty informative.

  • I have a question. I just saw this video because I just bought a keyboard. I use Acid but but when I plug in for using MIDI, it'll play back through the keyboard, but on the computer and when I disconnect, it won't play nor store. Is it possible just to connect through the mic, from the audio out on the keyboard?

  • That is very possible. It's not the best way, but it works well.

  • AWESOME tutorial man. Thanks a mil.

  • hey jacksonwonderful, this is cool, but i wanted to ask where did u get ur drum sketches, the folder you were is was sony curriculum and u had all the beats in it, where did u get them, pls give me a link...

  • ok i just made an account so i could ask you something about this video...i use a keyboard to get my beats, sounds, etc...but i want to use direct audio instead of midi so i took a audio chord put one end in the mic jack on my computer and one end in my head phone jack in my keyboard...when i play back the sound i hear it but in the back ground i also hear static noises that i dont really want if theres anything you can tell me about this probablem i would really appreciate it

  • Believe it or not, you just opened a can of worms. An almost infinite number of factors may be at work-- your monitor, lights in the room, your cable, your inputs and outputs, other electronic devices in the room. Try systematically ruling out every such posibility. You may end up wanting to buy an audio interface or a feedback/hum eliminator. Try googling "hum eliminator" or "hum in audio" for more information.

    Best of luck,

    P

  • All that expensive equipment with a dell computer.

    How sad =(

  • ... I smell a mac user.

  • naw just not dell's lol PC 4 LIFE

  • Thought I had called that one. This Dell has lasted me since High School... and I'm a high school teacher now. No complaints on this end!

  • I smell a mac user...Hahahahahahahahahahha that's funny haahahahaha thanks that made my day

  • yo...dude you are the best, i had no idea wat i waz doin on acid until i saw this...gudd lookin out

  • dj pain, I have mad respect for you. I really did not know who you were until i was checking a website out that listed top producers. Your name came up. I said hell! I watched his acid tutorial a few months ago. So this is cool to show love on the beatmaking tip like this. Much respect to you. have you ever thought about making a pdf file on beat making using acid and sell it? I would buy it. Peace and happy new year.

  • Damn, thanks a lot! I appreciate that.

Which website lists me as a top producer? Haha, that's news to me!

    Peace,

    P

  • I have to get back with you on that one. I was doing some quick surfing on beatmaking and the article was about the most slept on, underground producers. Let me check!

  • i have acid music studio 7.0 is it still the same

  • yes and no. you can still program and beatmap, but you can't use midi or any vst / dx plug-ins.

  • I Like ya Style Dog. And Nice Video Edits.

Maybe you should holla at me if you lookin for some free music sh!t. i got a mpc a triton , fruity loops and sonar . i even got a dell like ya computer and i used to use acid 5.0(got it from lime wire way back) but if that sh!t can run vst's and vsti's u should holla at me. ill tell you where to get some hi quality stuff like melodyne , hypersonic2 ,um circle vsti ect.

  • i find myself chopping more cds than vinyl in acid because it is a lot cleaner and more precise to chop than vinyl i chop the vinyl up in the akai mv.but acid is a incredible piece of software

  • how do i upload the loops in sony acid. where do i click to find them.

  • umm did i say jail? i just said you can get sued. and yea you can get sued. its happened plenty of times.

  • No, but what you said was, "its illegal." And it's not illegal. So I said you were mistaken. Plain and simple.

  • Hey man, just wondering how much did you pay for everything you've got in all? I want to get into beat making, but I really have no idea where to start.

  • depends on the type of music ur making. if ur into hip hop u could get a mpc 4 about 400 dollars on ebay. that'll let u sample drums and sample other sounds. or u could buy reason 4 or fl studio 7 at like guitar center for around 400 dollars for reason and as low as a hundred dollars for fl studio. u can also get a midi controller for 100 bucks. basically 200 bucks and a pc or mac can get u started

  • its secretive because its illegal :)... make your own loops and you wont get sued. dr dres been sued for millions because of his sampling. but oh well. nice vid and keep hip hop alive.

  • Well, no, that's not true at all. Dre was sued because of his uncleared sampling. There's nothing illegal about sampling. It has been going on since the 50's in all genres of music. I would argue that sampling is hip-hop's life blood (at least a good percentage of it), so to tie the topic of sampling to your last line, samples are keeping hip-hop alive.

  • BUT HIP HOP ISN'T ALIVE! it died at the turn off the century and it's ashame i haven't heard a song, ANY song that i like in 9 years! it's time for hip hop to evolve. and anyone that thinks rappers like lil wayne & game is are greatest rappers alive YOUR SMOKING CRACK! he's the worst! a cross over commercial rapper is what he is! and game is like the garbage on the bottom of my shoe. 10 years from now noone will remeber them!

  • Hip-hop has evolved, it just hasn't evolved into something you like. I mean, hip-hop has changed considerably within the last decade, from electro to neo-soul to snap music to boom bap... if you haven't heard anything you've liked in 9 years, maybe you shouldn't hold your breath. EPMD just dropped. Grandmaster Flash is about to as well.

  • and check the internet man, myspace facebook, all the music sites like soundclick. there are many many artists who are sticking to the formula and building upon it, hip hop isnt dead, it pulled a machiavelli

  • true Hip Hop is still alive. Its just not so easy to find anymore. You usually wont find it on the radio or even on the top 40 Lists. A lot of it is in the Underground scene. You just gotta look for it. Respect to people like Canibus, Ras KAss, Immortal TEch, Common, etc...:)

  • I'm a top 40 radio dj and we play common all the time...

Hip-hop is everywhere. It has problems, but it's all the same culture. If hip-hop were a person, she'd have a bad infection in half of her body... but she can't deny that half. The more she denies and ignores it, the worse it gets.

  • bullshit you can sample 4 bars of any body shit

  • Not for free. There is no 4-bar or 6-second rule. Trust me. My first major placement included a sample.

  • yeah you cant go to jail for sampling

  • Nah but sampling is fun but some folks will run your pockets unless you do it on a small scale but once you start cracking 100,000 in sales those artist are coming for there pie. lol

  • yeah actually u can sample as much as you want as long as you dont profit from it. its not illegal you know, just yeah when u get big they want their cut

  • very nice tutorial bro , and thats a sick beat too lol

  • That was a decent tutorial. Good job. I've never used Acid for more than pasting loops together. I know it's capable of more than that but since I mostly deal with audio(and since I bought EZdrummer) I never felt the need to take it any further(I primarily use Cubase). Cool tutorial though.

  • NOT FAIR!! :( i wish i was like u

  • I'm flattered, but it's not necessary to post so many comments.

The questions you are asking below are addressed in my other videos. None of the videos or tutorials available on the market are going to turn you into a great producer right away-- it will take years. I was 14 when I started and I was terrible. Just be patient and work hard. Dedication will prevail.

  • thanks alot! i'm trying my best :D

  • how do u get the drum samples do u make them?? and the other sounds?

  • i'm 13, i'm stupid, i cant work this, i wanna do it, i need some help

  • Im looking to see if i wanna purchase this. I have the "trial" version. And it has no loops. When you have the regular version, do you get the Media manager and all the samples and loops from the "Get Media" option?

  • does sony acid support plugins if yes does sony acid 4.0 support them

  • Yes.

  • hip hop is about being a resourceful? wtf does that mean lol

  • ... use dictionary (dot) com.

  • got the same prob :(

  • where did u get the samples (kick sounds and stuff)

i appriciate it if anyone could tell me

  • good shit!

  • wut it is!! ive had acid pro 7 for a while now. this right here is giving some understanding. keep'em comin bro

  • Dude, cool vids. Ive been using acid since 2.0. Its hard to find other cats that that can utilize its beyond just laying down loops. And I totally agree...its more the artist than the paint brush, you dont always have to have the most recent version of pro tools to make heat. Props.

  • You'll probably get a t-shirt or something...that's what they gave to those guys who did all that stuff with the coke and mentos

  • Hey, dude nice videos. i have got ma 120 casio is there any way to connect it into my pc. Thanks

  • this sounds like a commercial

  • Sony needs to start paying me for this stuff.

  • a man did u learn all this yourself or did you take classes?

  • Learned it myself-- it only took... 6 years.

  • Acid PRO doesnt cost a thing if you kow what to do. Send me a message and I will tell you how to get it free.

  • Pirating software isn't that sneaky or difficult. Please keep those types of offers off of my videos.

  • sorry and will do :)

  • Thanks :)

  • Why won't my keyboard show up in acid music studio

  • I think it's because music studio doesn't allow for midi support-- Acid pro is the full-featured version of ACID. It costs most, but it supports all VST and Direct X plug-ins, all midi devices and all VST instruments.

  • would it support celemony melodyne

  • I have no idea what that is, but ACID supports at direct x and vst plug-ins.

  • Thanks melodyne is a VST so acid will work!!!

    peace

  • thanks for the software help kindsa knew about bpm and stuff from beat mixing with dj equipment

  • tanks for the help with the drums though

  • That intro tune is tight!

  • sony acid is definately tight. I prefer reason 4.0. Acid is to much bull for me. I really do like the mixing engine. Very clean sound.

  • gnarlsbarkley albums n grey album wher all acid made

  • yo dude, i wana knoe if if i can record music in the SONY ACID 7, without having a MIDI keyboard, and only a typing keyboard. PLZZZZ LET ME KNOE MAN iight??

  • Likewise.

  • m2 thought that

  • Man I think I'm gonna put up my own Acid vid I have been using it since version 1. Its cool that people are starting to get into it. Also you should add that Danger Mouse, producer for Gnarls Barkley uses Acid. Good video.

  • i have beats on fl.. check out my channel.

  • Hello, Can anyone chelp.. how to get vocal out from a track, by using Acid pro. Is there any plug-ins?? I'm trying to make a re-mix, but i need to get only the vocal out from an orginal track and mix with a new beat.

  • where did you get your drum samples?
