If I were to be charitable, I'd say that the context implies he might merely have mis-spoken and not realized or caught it in review and is therefore a fucktard rather than an arsehole. It's possible what he meant to say was "If you die of cancer from smoking that's you're fault [...] if somebody kills you it's not your fault."

But he doesn't deserve my charity so I won't say that.
