If only they made a modern version that had an updated interface & look, nicer keys, and used more modern storage like SD and CF cards and SATA (& SSD maybe) harddrives, and possibly a few other random new features, it would be a dream. Great piece of hardware though, too bad it uses SCSI.
If you like this synth, find in youtube and listen to the records made by Gerald Becker, aka "Virtual Symmetry", from Eye Q Records. ALL his tracks are made using the ASR-10....And they're very well made!
Had one between 1996-1998 so miss the hands on size of this unit. Splicing, changing the loop position and of course the effect unit . but don't miss the sequencing process:)
@24bit this was my unit in the video (i made the video) - i agree, i am unable to achieve the same loop/splice control in software-based FL Studio and such - but i never even attempted to sequence internal in the ASR - i created the loops and samples, then sequenced with the DOS version of Cakewalk from an Intel 286 PC.
Ahhh, good times, I remember watching this a while back thinking "wooooah, I'd love to own one of those beasts"... been a year since I bought my first one, and I STILL think "wow, I own an ASR-10!" every time I look at it. Ok, so it's old, but the design is plain scary, and it's just got a unique character I've never seen with any other keyboard/synth I've owned.
Hey people i got a question for you.im new to the asr 10 family.i want to know what the scsi zip drive does? can i upload all my flopy disk to it?does it store the sounds on it that way i dont have to be putting a flopy disk at a time? if so whats the maximum zip drive the asr can handle?and whats the zip drive you recomend me to get? thanks in advance and hope someone gets back to me soon.i hope it does store sounds.i hate going trough floppy disk.thanks in advance...D-lux
I have an ASR 88 with a compact flash scsi drive. Now I can create the sounds in my mac with Translator pro, load into the CF and take it to the ASR a boot from there. My old sampler now has a new and better life. I can even use sounds from Logic 8.
This one is for sale on eBay, posted 8/16/08 - search "ensoniq asr-10" - this is a nice one, most either have no SCSI or have been abused in live performance.
Hi guy ! Nice video and sound . I have my asr 10 next to me , make all kind of music since 2003 and all that save on floppydisks !!!!! I'm looking for a scsi card , have you got some contact to me ? Thanks
Do they all come with these stock sounds?
