I am having such a hard time believe that hypno birthing works because every time I watch one of these videos, the mother turns off the video during major transition and pushing time. It just makes me think that the mother was not as calm as she says she was. I even saw a video of a woman who said she was going to have an orgasmic birth. That was 2 years ago, and I still have not seen a video of that birth or feedback from the mother regarding that birth. I want to believe, but I need to see.
@nawmmbr I am in transition in the section that looks kind of green (night vision on video camera) I was going from 8 to 10 cm there. My DH didn't want me to include pushing, as it was mostly crotch shots. However I did find some clips that were ok and put them in a video entitled Mother Directed Pushing in Hospital. I also have quite a few videos on my Enjoy Birth You Tube Channel showing mom in transition. You can also read over 250 stories at Pregnancy Birth and Babies
@EnjoyBirth Funny you state your DH "didn't want me to include pushing, as it was mostly crotch shots", but as you chose to birth in this way and video tape, shouldn't the shots, too, have been your choice? I'm just sayin'. Thanks for the info, but I am not interested in "crotch shots". What I am interested in is witnessing the mother's temperament during the push and actual delivery.
@nawmmbr I was birthing, not filming so he chose what to film, not me. I was fine not sharing those segments with the whole world. So I edited as I said. However check out those other videos and there are some of the moms pushing and you can see the moms temperament during transformation and pushing.
@nawmmbr In control, not in control - anyway, I found about 5 women who were NOT using "hypno-birthing", as in many African countries, that is not taught. These women were merely told what to expect and told to just let their pain wash over them and to picture themselves opening for the baby. They didn't use the psuedo-jargon, rather just understood and expected what was happening, knowing they were in safe hands and they gave birth without "purple pushing" as it's called here.
I am very excited to begin my classes next month. I am still a little skeptic, and it is expereinces such as yours that make me understand the process more. Thank you for posting
Thanks for sharing this video! Was this at a hospital? Do you mind me asking if you rejected an IV and fetal monitoring? I'm 31 weeks & hoping for a VBAC and will be doing hypnobirthing. I'm just nervous about being confined by all the wires & IV lines and am wondering if the hospital will make a fuss over me rejecting them unless absolutely necessary.
@hekaersa I had a saline lock instead of an IV. I did have continuous fetal monitoring, but they had telemetric monitoring, so I could walk the halls. Each hospital has their own rules about these things. You can always say no, but it may be a fight.
Good job Momma! I used hypnobirthing too, it was SO helpful! I had a very peaceful, painless, and even orgasmic birth at home. Now that you have such perfect trust in your body and birth and have experienced what a wonderful thing natural childbirth can be what are your thoughts on doing it outside of the hospital next time, like in a birthing center, or at home?
Thank you for sharing this! My husband and I are going to our first hypnobirthing class in two weeks. So excited! I've heard great things about the Hypnobabies program. I was thinking of doing that on top of the hypnobirthing classes.
i had a hypno birth and i almost didn't even make it to the doc and only pushed ( J breath) two times and she was out. she got a 10 in the doc's rating that they give babies when they are born. i was in labor for 4 hours not like my first 3 days big difference. i love love hypno birth it helped me release and just let my baby come out neutrally
Hypnobabies is something you do on your own at home. You can still use the same hospital, doctor or midwives, etc. Definitely look into it if you are interested in an unmedicated birth. You can find it for very cheap on Amazon or Ebay.
I had two medicated births. With my second they struck a nerve while inserting the epidural needle...When he was born he was lethargic and they called up the NICU - and after nearly losing him earlier in my pregnancy, I was utterly terrified. When I got home, I ended up with the "epidural headache", wanted to die and could barely take care of my son. Now that I'm getting ready to have my third (again, after much heartache and trouble), I decided a medicated birth is not worth all the trouble.
@fallingidols1 Sorry about your last birth experience. Un-medicated can be a great way to go! Hypnobabies gives you great education and wonderful tools to help you!
Would it have been SO awful if you used pain relief? The only person that would have been put out would have been you. Why is there such a culture against pain relief in childbirth - I'll bet the next time you have a root canal you won't be opting for hypnosis, but all the narcotics you can get your hands on. Why the difference in childbirth?
@puffinstuffsmum Well said, EnjoyBirth! I might add that "pain relief" drugs are potentially harmful to the mother and child and their use is built on a culture of fear perpetuated by Western techniques that are designed to make things comfortable and profitable for the doctors, not the patients. Hypnosis is harmful to NO ONE except those who are threatened by it. Check out "The Business of Being Born" if you want to be more informed.
@puffinstuffsmum err, you CAN use hypnosis for dentistry, and open surgery in fact. in birth the hypnosis is used for relaxation (therefore no pain is caused in the first place), in surgery and dentistry the hypnotism is used for pain relief. it's weird that you are chastising a woman for birthing as nature intended- do you think the experience is less if she doesn't suffer? how archaeic.
@puffinstuffsmum I personally think childbirths should be natural. It's a natural process, like having your period. Getting a root canal isn't natural. It's a manmade procedure.
Fab video! I used Natal Hypnotherapy to birth my daughter & it was great! The workshops were brilliant! You can do the Natural Pain Relief Workshop at any time in pregnancy & then do the Practical Birth Preparation workshop later. Also it's cheaper than some other classes, which is great!
Thank you so much for posting this! I am just beginning hypnobabies for my first baby :) This was really inspirational and gives me a lot of confidence.
It is true, the ideal time to start is between 24-30 weeks, however many moms choose to start Hypnobabies earlier, which is fine. They focus on listening to Affirmations and 2 other tracks until about 24 weeks.
yay!! I've been following all the hypnobabies guidelines religiously and I haven't been watching all the tv shows and dramatizations but I had no idea there were hyponobabies clips out there.... Thank you so much!!! I am due march 1st and I am so excited to have the best natural birth possible... Very amazing very inspiring, I'm very encouraged!!!
Hey. I start my hypnosis classes next week. I am extremely excited to learn how to "OFF" in one breath. How hard was it to learn how to do that? I use to meditate after Bikram Yoga before pregnancy. Is it like that but quicker? Please let me know. I would LOVE to hear from you. Your experience is so beautiful
We have just started our hypnobirthing lessons, the more you learn about it the more it makes complete sense. My sister just had a hypnobirthing baby, she said it was amazing.
This was such a great video! My husband and I are TTC our first. :)
I am interested in using hypnotherapy but I had a question for you. Did the hypnotherapy really make it pain-free? Or does it just calm you down during the pain?
I felt my contractions as intense pressure. You know when you get your blood pressure taken and your arm gets squeezed tightly. It isn't painful, but it is pretty intense. That is a good way to describe how I felt my contractions.
that was very beautiful video, I was not able to attend hypno classes but I have been doing a lot of reading about it and trying to think positive and blocking any negative comments towards birth. I have had a great midwife who taught me the breathing techniques so I really hope i will have a birth as great as yours!!
How far in advance did you start prepping? I'm at 35weeks with my first baby but have not attended any classes. Is this something that could be accomplished in such a short period of time?
This video is awesome, and inspired me to seek out HypnoBabies for my own upcoming birth (in June '09). I wish more women knew about this wonderful option for gentle childbirth!
This a great great example of how Hypnosis is used to help women enjoy birth instead of fear it. I can attest to how well Hypnosis works before and during child birth. I also had great success using Hypnobabies. Thanks Sheridan!!
Hypnobabies does not have live classes there, but there is the Hypnobabies Home Study Program which is very complete. There are moms all over the world using the Home Study program.
It is always fabulous to see hypnosis during birth in action, but why do US women tolerate being made to birth on their backs when medically this is the worse position?
But why do you let them do that to you? It's well known that it is the most uncomfortable, least efficient, and most dangerous position to birth in (although easier for staff). I always think of US women as being very capable of standing up for themselves, so I am surprised that I have never seen a video of an American woman birthing in hospital in any other position. In the UK it is pretty common for active birth to be encouraged it is certainly regarded as best practice in most births.
I have seen a few births as a doula in US hospitals where mom is in a different position. But most of the time the nurses pretty much make mom lay on her back and it takes a strong woman to force the issue during her birthing time. For me once I was in a certain position I didn't want to move.
imo anything interfering with the normal natural child birth (even anesthesia) may have some side effect whether on the health of the baby or the mother or both
Thankyou for sharing your miraculous experience!! How wonderful the mind can be with a bit of influencial guidance! A great experience for mom, baby and dad, too! Good for you! This should be offered at every prenatal clinic.
My first birth was a cesarean, my second birth I did end up choosing to get an epidural because of pain, but this birth was comfortable with no medication. The Hypnobabies really worked well for me!
Unfortunately my hypnobirthing experience that I practised from the moment of conception was longer and more painful than my first, even though I was utterly convinced it would work and was shocked when I felt pain. I was a little calmer though. I am so glad it works for other people though!
I am sorry that you didn't find your birth more comfortable, I am glad that it helped you stay calm. There are big differences between hypnosis for childbirth programs. I am not sure which one you used. I used HypnoBirthing for my 2nd birth and found it helpful for part of my birth. I used Hypnobabies for my 3rd birth (this video) and was comfortable for the whole birth.
Ometimes imagine that "something will work" means that you don't. we are lazy creatures and must realize that its a lot of work on the part of the clients. If you expect it to completely remove the pain that might be seen as letting "it" do all the work and letting go of responsability. And Sometimes the program used is simply not the one for you. This one is very good from what my colleagues tell me. (I don't do Hypnobirthing myself.) Take care
Great video. I am 30wks pregnant and doing the Hypnobirthing course in the UK. Going for a VBAC this time with minimum intervention. Doctors stay away with your syntocin, morphine and scalpels. Leave me with the midwives. I CAN DO IT MYSELF!!
It's interesting to read the comments here about pushing = pain. I didn't feel pain with pushing and crowning. I was vocalizing "ahhh" loudly and above anything it just felt weird to me, but pushing actually felt good. Don't get me wrong, it was intense, but I didn't scream my head off. My mom said it was funny because the way I talked with my OB during pushing was calm like I was sitting across a desk from him. I even changed the track on my MP3 player in-between pushing contractions.
I just gave birth to my first child 6/13/08 (8 lb, 4 oz) and I used the HypnoBabies program as demonstrated in this video. I had a completely natural birth and was only in labor for about 7 hours. My labor went pretty much like this and I would not say that I ever really felt pain, just intense discomfort at times, but never actual pain. I had my doubts about this program working but it did for me and I have convinced many others that this can and does work for many women if you believe it will.
I used self hypnosis for my 3 kids. I had trained myself to center my pain in one leg muscle, which I tightend. The nurse told me I had to relax, or I would hinder the "process". I said "I am" and she had to feel my tummy to believe that I could indeed keep one tight muscle and all the rest of me very calm and relaxed. Despite ending up with 2nd degree lacerations from use of oxytocin and long labor, no meds. Not that the doc and nurse did not try...lol Very nice video!
The poster of this video said that she did not show herself pushing because it was too graphic. Huh?? Have you seen all the other birth videos on You Tube?? They are full of vaginas! I personally think you left out the pushing because you were screaming like a banshee!
Just because other people feel comfortable sharing those types of intimate views of their nether regions, doesn't mean this poster feels the need. Her birth appears to be peaceful and serene, comments like this are really unnecessary.
Well, actually I am fine with the idea of having my whole video on there, my husband ask that I didn't include the graphic parts, so I didn't. If you came to my Hypnobabies class, I show the video there. The beginning of pushing I am breathing the baby out. Then I do start "roaring" my baby out. I was yelling, but only because it felt powerful, not because I was uncomfortable, then the last push I was quiet on. So I never screamed like a banshee, though I was not silent.
Well,it's certainly better than using epidural. Personally,I didn't need any hypnosis nor anastetics and I was smiling throughout the entire labor (although I couldn't speak nor move during the pressure waves just like you)My doctor wouldn't believe I'm going to have baby any time soon(at 6cm)and he left to get a cup of coffee even though I told him I'm ready NOW. When he was back the baby was rapped in blankets already, nurse practitioner took care of it. Fear is what causing the pain IMHO.
Because she had her switch in the "Off" position. With Hypnobabies, a mental image of a light switch is used. When it is "Off" all the muscles in the body are limp and completely relaxed. Between pressure waves, she turns the switch to the "Center" position and in this position, you can move around and talk. She specifically says at one point that she goes "Off" and this is what she is referring to.
Early in my birthing time I was walking and talking during my pressure waves. When I entered transition I became more focused and chose to stay "off" during the pressure waves. So I guess litteraly I wasn't smiling and talking EVERY minute of my birth, but rather when I wanted to interact and move I was able to and happy about it.
Well done on the birth of your baby, its wonderful to see hypnosis at its best. Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years for pain relief, and you are both a wonderful example to others that are thinking of using hypnosis for childbirth.
How beautiful, you are an inspiration! I wish my Hypnobirth 5 weeks ago had gone as well. I was induced at 42; baby wasn't decending at all. We did great for several hours until they messed with my pitocin. After 17 hours, baby was at -2 and I was at 4cm and experiencing a lot of pain. My instructor reminded me hypnosis doesn't manage pain ment to tell a mom something is wrong. Had a c-section and baby had a squished nose - she was stuck. I was so prepared, calm, & excited for birth. Next time!
Wow, your amazing! i also used hynobirthing but i dont remember being as calm as you were! I did have the required result though. I had only a four hour labour, with 10 minutes of pushing. Baby was born safely in the water. I would recommend hynobirthing to anyone.
As Im pregnant again I will be visiting the website you listed just to refresh :)
Impressive! I'm due in 5 days with my first baby. I couldn't find a hyponbirthing or hypnobabies close by to me. I think next time I will make sure I go to one. No matter how far away the drive is!
Just lovely, I am so happy 4 U, both of mine were born with self hypnosis, my own mind is so trustworthy, I knew birth was safe and I was touched at how simply they were born-thank you for sharing such a lovely time in your life with us!
I am 21 weeks along right now with our first and we are looking at varying methods of childbirth classes and we have heard of this before. We have chosen not to use any drugs, so I want to try something natural to relax me. I am glad you posted this. It gives me some idea of how it works. I will be going to the website right now.
Good for you! I expect my baby around 12 weeks from now and just started my Hypnobirthing classes. I am glad you were able to share your wonderful experience. I wish I could personally tell every expectant mother that childbirth does not have to be painful and "clinical". Not enough woman know. I pray that this type of birth becomes more of the norm.
First, shame on all you naysayers. How can you tell someone what she was feeling? Ugh.
Second, I've been wondering about Hypnobabies. I had both mine at home, and they were fast, painful labors, but WONDERFUL. Did you still feel connected and in the moment? I'm worried about an "out of body" feeling.
I am 37 weeks and have been practicing Hypnobabies homestudy since 27 weeks. I have enjoyed watching your video and find your experience inspiring! I will be having a homebirth, and find it amazing that you were able to have a wonderful, peaceful Hypno-birth at a hospital. I hope other mothers can see that childbirth can be pain-free. Thank you so much for this video, I will continue to use it for inspiration and encouragement as I prepare for my baby's birth.
I love your video! There is nothing as empowering as accomplishing natural childbirth. It can be done! It seems we are socialized to believe it cannot. Our bodies are perfectly designed to do this. Don't be afraid.
I have given birth twice naturally and I am very well impressed with this video - although the pushing stage is painful, so I didn't see how you managed through that.
Yay! Nothing like positive birthing videos to help all those hypnomoms studying out there. I've had two very successful hypnosis births (I used the Hypnobirthing program) and I'm getting ready for a third! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing that. Did you really have a pain free birth or were you aware of the pain just able to deal with it? My Mother in Law says she did Hypnosis with her oldest and says she loved it but didn't do it for the other births.
I felt crampy at first... like mild menstrual cramps. Then after my water broke I felt just pressure. I remember when I was pushing the OB was saying, you will feel a lot of pain with the ring of fire. And I thought, I haven't felt any pain yet, why should I now? And I didn't... just A LOT of pressure. So I FELT things, but it was all comfortable.
I commented earlier, I did actually yell for a few minutes during pushing. I didn't post it because the shots of me pushing are pretty much the baby coming out and I didn't want 100,000 people seeing that much of me. :) I honestly just felt a lot of pressure while pushing. I just felt very powerful while push, I felt like a mama lion roaring her baby out!
I am glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to point out that there are a few different hypnosis for childbirth programs. I used HypnoBirth for my 2nd birth and it was helpful up to a point. When I got pregnant with Bryson I looked for a more complete program and found Hypnobabies. I had a lot more tools to help me stay in hypnosis and comfortable during the birth. So I think it is great to recommend hypnosis to expecting moms, but they should research and find which program is best for them. :)
You did so great. I used the Bradley method and i was screaming my butt off in transition but that was childbirth. Maybe next time I will try hypnobabies take care
thank you for sharing that experiance. it is someting i have heard about by seeing it in practice i have decided it is the route i would like to take.
I watched all three of my sisters give birth using the hypnobabies method... It works. Trust me... Pain free all the way and really amazing. My sister, Angelique, was in labor with twins for 18 hours and she only felt pressure when they were crowning. I watched it with my own eyes. I think a lot of you ladies are biased because you're afraid of what you don't understand... Shame, you should read more. I will definitely use hypnobabies with all my pregnancies!
Errr... epidurals are bad for you and the baby, Tiffany. Hello interventions. That's part of why people choose to birth naturally. Also, because being fully aware of the experience of birth is really good for bonding. :)
Womderful video! I'm pregnant with my first baby (a boy) and I'm going to use hypnobirthing. It is such a relief to watch a beautiful, pain-free birth. I'm tired of hearing everyone say how much it hurts! Even before I learned about hypnobirthing, I didn't believe childbirth should be the painful, terrible experience so many women claim it is. Thank You!
Great video! How awesome you were! :) If only more women would view pregnancy & childbirth as a normal physiological event. Unfortunately, in the U.S. our society wants us to be afraid of everything that could possibly go wrong. However, most of the time, all the interventions are what increases the risk of complications.
I know exactly what you mean. I did the same with my two waterbirths. My first was a c-sec (triplets). It felt very good to yell. It wasn't because of pain.
You didnt look like you were sleeping at all... it was obvious you were feeling pain... perhaps the waves of contractions? ...though it did look like you were controlling it thru heavy breathing. ...but whatever you think works for you. If you thought it would work then like a placebo, it did.
Sheridan was not feeling pain at all. Obviously you have never been with a woman in labor who is 9 cm dilated and almost ready to push with *NO* drugs in her system. Most of them are screaming or moaning their heads off, an d*that* is pain. Shridan however was using deep abdominal breathing automatically, from her Hypnobabies training as well as deep, real hypnosis during each birthing wave. Yeah, it does work.
Well even she admits to have yelled when she was pushing. & I know what it's like to have a baby & I'm the same way, I control it with heavy breathing & I'm not screaming at this point either... but not bcz of any hypnosis, that's just the way I am. I'm sure it works, but like I said kind of like a placebo. It really is about staying calm & controlling yourself thru the pain. However every woman is different.
Why be a doubter? Childbirth is 99.9% psychological. If you train yourself to relax and know how to do it, your labor and birth tend to be much easier. I've had 3 children, 6lbs. 2oz., 8lbs. 11oz., & 7lbs. 13oz. I never screamed and it felt extremely good to push. Every woman and every labor and birth are different.
Exactly, every woman, labor, and birth is different... some are physically weaker than others or perhaps have a lower tolerance to pain or even complications - which are not psychological. I had such an easy time, my 2nd & third were out in minutes! Not bcz of any hypno VBAC, but if that works for you then great. Oh and I did yell... another natural reaction. :)
Wow, you looked great! It looked as if you weren't even in labour :) Thanks for the positive video, I'm expecting my 2nd and although my first was natural the pain was almost more than I could take. We're trying it at home this time!
Very inspirational! You helped me with both facing my first VBAC birth and my first hypnobirth. Thank you so much for sharing this <3

I am not against pain relief, I used it with much joy in my first 2 births, but it was even more awesome not to want or need it with Brysons birth.

Fab video! I used Natal Hypnotherapy to birth my daughter & it was great! The workshops were brilliant! You can do the Natural Pain Relief Workshop at any time in pregnancy & then do the Practical Birth Preparation workshop later. Also it's cheaper than some other classes, which is great!

It may sound paranoid. But can you start early with learning these methods? I'm planning on taking lessons as soon as I find out i'm pregnant!
I'd feel more secure about the method that way
Jilz2 2 years ago
Some moms do start very early and that is fine. Whatever is best for YOU!
EnjoyBirth 2 years ago
the method recommends that you don't start until you're about 20wks. Have a look on the Morgon method website.
chavagirl1977 2 years ago

It is pretty easy, you learn it in one hypnosis session, but practice it daily to get really good at it!

This was such a great video! My husband and I are TTC our first. :)
I am interested in using hypnotherapy but I had a question for you. Did the hypnotherapy really make it pain-free? Or does it just calm you down during the pain?
libravenus85 2 years ago
I felt my contractions as intense pressure. You know when you get your blood pressure taken and your arm gets squeezed tightly. It isn't painful, but it is pretty intense. That is a good way to describe how I felt my contractions.
EnjoyBirth 2 years ago
that was very beautiful video, I was not able to attend hypno classes but I have been doing a lot of reading about it and trying to think positive and blocking any negative comments towards birth. I have had a great midwife who taught me the breathing techniques so I really hope i will have a birth as great as yours!!

How far in advance did you start prepping? I'm at 35weeks with my first baby but have not attended any classes. Is this something that could be accomplished in such a short period of time?

The Hypnobabies Home Study is set up as a 5 week program. So some moms do start as late as 35 weeks! Most mom start between 24-34 weeks.

It is always fabulous to see hypnosis during birth in action, but why do US women tolerate being made to birth on their backs when medically this is the worse position?
Roxy222uk 2 years ago 6
In most cases it is because that is the position that the nurses put them in before they start to push in a hospital setting.
EnjoyBirth 2 years ago
But why do you let them do that to you? It's well known that it is the most uncomfortable, least efficient, and most dangerous position to birth in (although easier for staff). I always think of US women as being very capable of standing up for themselves, so I am surprised that I have never seen a video of an American woman birthing in hospital in any other position. In the UK it is pretty common for active birth to be encouraged it is certainly regarded as best practice in most births.
Roxy222uk 2 years ago
I have seen a few births as a doula in US hospitals where mom is in a different position. But most of the time the nurses pretty much make mom lay on her back and it takes a strong woman to force the issue during her birthing time. For me once I was in a certain position I didn't want to move.

imo anything interfering with the normal natural child birth (even anesthesia) may have some side effect whether on the health of the baby or the mother or both

My first birth was a cesarean, my second birth I did end up choosing to get an epidural because of pain, but this birth was comfortable with no medication. The Hypnobabies really worked well for me!
EnjoyBirth 3 years ago
Unfortunately my hypnobirthing experience that I practised from the moment of conception was longer and more painful than my first, even though I was utterly convinced it would work and was shocked when I felt pain. I was a little calmer though. I am so glad it works for other people though!
carriebuk 3 years ago
I am sorry that you didn't find your birth more comfortable, I am glad that it helped you stay calm. There are big differences between hypnosis for childbirth programs. I am not sure which one you used. I used HypnoBirthing for my 2nd birth and found it helpful for part of my birth. I used Hypnobabies for my 3rd birth (this video) and was comfortable for the whole birth.
Congrats on your baby!
EnjoyBirth 3 years ago

I had my doubts about this program working but it did for me and I have convinced many others that this can and does work for many women if you believe it will.
coladara 3 years ago
on a scale of 1-10 how much did it hurt,i really want to know??/

pain level would be 1- really no pain. But pressure and intensity would probably be 8. So it was intense and powerful, but not painful for me.
EnjoyBirth 3 years ago

Winter077 3 years ago
Just because other people feel comfortable sharing those types of intimate views of their nether regions, doesn't mean this poster feels the need. Her birth appears to be peaceful and serene, comments like this are really unnecessary.
tmitg 3 years ago 3

RenewableEnergyEng 3 years ago
If you were smiling throughout the entire labour, then why couldn't you speak or move during the pressure waves? Get your story straight, woman!
Winter077 3 years ago
Because she had her switch in the "Off" position. With Hypnobabies, a mental image of a light switch is used. When it is "Off" all the muscles in the body are limp and completely relaxed. Between pressure waves, she turns the switch to the "Center" position and in this position, you can move around and talk. She specifically says at one point that she goes "Off" and this is what she is referring to.
tmitg 3 years ago 2
Early in my birthing time I was walking and talking during my pressure waves. When I entered transition I became more focused and chose to stay "off" during the pressure waves. So I guess litteraly I wasn't smiling and talking EVERY minute of my birth, but rather when I wanted to interact and move I was able to and happy about it.

I didn't post it because the shots of me pushing are pretty much the baby coming out and I didn't want 100,000 people seeing that much of me. :) I honestly just felt a lot of pressure while pushing. When I got pregnant with Bryson I looked for a more complete program and found Hypnobabies. I had a lot more tools to help me stay in hypnosis and comfortable during the birth. Great video! How awesome you were! :) If only more women would view pregnancy & childbirth as a normal physiological event. Unfortunately, in the U.S. our society wants us to be afraid of everything that could possibly go wrong. However, most of the time, all the interventions are what increases the risk of complications.

You didnt look like you were sleeping at all... it was obvious you were feeling pain... perhaps the waves of contractions? ...though it did look like you were controlling it thru heavy breathing. ...but whatever you think works for you. If you thought it would work then like a placebo, it did.
& congratulations! :)
SOFIAgandako 4 years ago
Sheridan was not feeling pain at all. Obviously you have never been with a woman in labor who is 9 cm dilated and almost ready to push with *NO* drugs in her system. Most of them are screaming or moaning their heads off, an d*that* is pain. Shridan however was using deep abdominal breathing automatically, from her Hypnobabies training as well as deep, real hypnosis during each birthing wave. Yeah, it does work.
misskerrot 4 years ago
Well even she admits to have yelled when she was pushing. & I know what it's like to have a baby & I'm the same way, I control it with heavy breathing & I'm not screaming at this point either... but not bcz of any hypnosis, that's just the way I am. I'm sure it works, but like I said kind of like a placebo. It really is about staying calm & controlling yourself thru the pain. However every woman is different.
SOFIAgandako 4 years ago
Why be a doubter? Childbirth is 99.9% psychological. If you train yourself to relax and know how to do it, your labor and birth tend to be much easier. I've had 3 children, 6lbs. 2oz., 8lbs. 11oz., & 7lbs. 13oz. I never screamed and it felt extremely good to push. Every woman and every labor and birth are different.
KYcnm 4 years ago 2
Exactly, every woman, labor, and birth is different... some are physically weaker than others or perhaps have a lower tolerance to pain or even complications - which are not psychological. I had such an easy time, my 2nd & third were out in minutes! Not bcz of any hypno VBAC, but if that works for you then great. Oh and I did yell... another natural reaction. :)
SOFIAgandako 4 years ago
Oh but only as the baby was coming out... during labor (which was during the 10minute car trip to the clinic lol) I only said "it hurts a bit" twice.
