That rifle is a Hungarian AMD 65 with a wood handguard to replace the metal vertical grip it has originally. The AMD is used in Afghanistan a lot, and probably sold from Hungary's old stock. i am also willing to bet no one in the armories even bothered to inspect the guns or clean them, or even check the ammunition they loaded into that rifle. Not a bad rifle, but not the best of the Ak family. Every gun will eventually fail when its internal components are damaged or broken.
