lennox lewis i think your an amazing guy and one of the greatest heavyweights but you talk about fighting tyson like it was nothing. if you were so great why didnt you fight him when he was at his peak, when he was unbeatable, when no one wanted to fight him, you couldnt have beaten him then and you know it thats why it never happened, dont talk as if you were always better than him, even though ali was old he still admited that he was scared of tyson

Because Lewis was an amateur when Tyson was at his peak and in 1990 lost to Buster Douglas and was put in the slammer in 1992. Does that answer your question?

unlike quite a few other boxers, lennox seems like a really intelligent guy, not to mention courteous, polite and respecful, and he does not seem to suffer any problems with his ego and looks to be quite a down-to-earth and nice guy. great interview.

I think, that Lennox and Holyfield beat Tyson because, either he was having too many personal and financial problems, stressed, depressed or something, he was not the same fighter as he was before. I think if they had fought Mike in the 80's when he was doing ok and nothing to worry about, or maybe didn't care of his problem, Mike would have destroyed them.

Lewis didn't have to gloat and insult his opponents to look good. He didn't even have to swear just to show that he is intimidating. His punches did all the talking necessary. He beat everyone who bragged about destroying him and that's more than what anyone else can say...

the fact is you beat him in the 4th.In the first fight he beat u in the 6th rd but u say 4th.

once again boxers only tell half of the story lewis speaks about beating tyson but by that time anyone would have beaten tyson. if lewis would have beaten tyson before the douglas fight or before he went to jail, ok but everyone knows he didn't fight prime tyson. like larry holmes bragging about beating an out of shape damaged ali, if holmes would have beating a prime ali in the 60's ok so they only tell half of the story. we all know tyson had 4 years off and ali 3 and 1/2 years &neverthesame

@jeryd2003 i agree with what you said (tyson being washed up) but there is also more to the story of tyson v lewis it is common knowledge in the boxing world that when tyson got out of prison and won the wbc title of frank bruno lewis was ranked number 1 by the wbc and they ordered tyson to defend his title against lewis which he did not. tyson gave up the wbc title and went for the softer option to fight bruce seldon who held the wba title some say don king told him tyson to do it

He mixes up few unsignificant facts - like Johnson's first name and the number of the round, but then... what's the big deal about it?

As per Klitschko - he won first four rounds of their fight and lost last two and the fight was stopped due to the injuries caused by Lennox's punches.

Another thing is - Lewis wasn't in too good shape for this fight - he was the heaviest in his career (last time he was heaviest in his career is his loss to Rahman). So I was a bit worried b4 that fight.

It's funny how Lewis gets his facts all wrong. Rahman finished him in 5 rounds, and he finished Rahman in 4 rounds. Also it's Kirk Johnson not Chris Johnson.

And finally, Lewis was the one who really wanted the Roy Jones Jr fight to finish his career and he was planning to do that just before his Klitschko fight. However after his awful performance against Vitali, he swallowed his pride and knew Vitali was the better man and he had to retire.

@Midiotwimp he just thinks it was unecessary to fight him ahain since he did not train at the time for vitali ( he was training for Kirk Johnson who got injured a few weeks before and they needed a replacement) and still Lewis manged to beat him. So in his head if he actually trained serious for Vitali it would have been the same result but way easier the second time around ... and that is why he felt he did not think he needed to fight him again.

@boxingshowtv - True. After all, Lewis said in another interview that hunger is what motivated him in the sport, not just the money. If he fight again, it would only be for the money. I mean, Lewis out of shape and unprepared beats a stronger, younger Vitali and even if the match goes on Vitali's career would be ended. If he is lucky enough to survive the fight, there is no way he will win. Not with his eyes cut up so badly... A rematch would be unnecessary. Lewis would win just the same...
