Sideways stance also makes it easier to flip over onto it's back, grab an attacking cat, and use it's hind legs to pummel and cut (in a real fight, fur would be flying all over the place from this move) the hell out of the other cat while holding it with it's front claws and biting: the most damaging cat-fight move.
