Well first of all, It's Houdini. Second of all, Houdini did magic, genies are not so much magic but more of an apparition, a figment of one's imaginiation if you will. There was a story about an thirsty arab who walked the desert to come upon an oil lamp in which he rubbed and saw a genie come out. It granted him three wishes, but needless to say, it was just his imagination running wild and ended up dying of heat exhaustion and dehydration.
