  • Paddy the Pelican Survives the Storm, a book to teach kids about hurricane preparedness.

  • I am 53 years old and have been IN 12 hurricanes in my life, including Hurricane Rita and Ike. I ke had the water and I think because of the wind I was in, that Rita was definitely the worst crap I have ever been in during my life. It was horrible. It scared me enough to where I took a sharpie marler and wrote my ss number on my arm. I was in Lumberton Texas and the eye of Rita passed right over my home. This is why I am into survival. What does not kill us makes us stronger. Charles, La.

  • good points on people being complacent. But I don't know how you put the pandemic flu of 1918 with being complacent?

  • as your living in disaster prone areas of the USA, how come you dont move to another area of the USA were its not so dangerous (that was sad about that womans body found 1 week later)

  • man what kind of boonie hat is that ??? where can i find it to buy

  • Here in Chicago we had a BIG snow storm which knocked out power for some. We were prepared because we are prepared ALL year round, but my neighbors were going gocery shopping the next day. Heck the police had closed down some roads. I told them you don't prepare for a disaster in the middle of one. Grocery store shelves are wiped cleaned from folks who ain't prepared.

  • man this video makes you think looking at all that bare land and 1 lone house upside down

  • Have you made any videos on how to skin game? I saw your deer v ideo, but Id like to know how to skin butcher a deer and etc. thanks

  • where you from man, u said crystal beach so i guess from Galveston area? im from santa fe, tx...........

  • I agree 100%. People are very forgetful and think it will never happen to them. Good advise!!

  • is that house upside down wtf lmao

  • I miss this guy .... he did a great job informing folks on preparedness with great ideas. Hope things are gong well for him ... I've really enjoyed the videos. Hope he gets back on youtube with more good tips and information.

  • Why do all you "survivalists" look or dress like Bill Murray in Caddyshack?

    Nuts....

  • @actonbath I was thinking Kit from Napoleon Dynamite.

  • Both of my great grandparents died in the 1918 pandemic so I take all these flu's seriously. We can't say, well I got it and it wasn't too bad so I'm not going to worry about it. Remember it was the 2nd wave in 1918 that killed so many. Don't be complacent. As for whether or not to get vaccinated. Not sure. I did last Fall and haven't felt well since. Other's have felt fine. Personal decision I guess.

  • WTF? That house is upside down! LOL.... He landed in Oz.... sorry i will creep back into my hole. x_x

  • @ricksageek lol i was thinking of Oz too lmao.

  • Three words. Microphone Wind Screen.

  • mercy!!! i live in ontario canada 2 hours from niagra falls just north of bufallo, here we dont get such disasters and we tend to forget all the brave souls that have to brave out the destruction of mother nature. be strong and remember that u have our deepest respect!!!!!!!

  • AIDS was isolated in Africa only until a few American men that had been infected in Africa through unprotected sex from America it spread to Asia and South America, again because of unprotected sex by men who sought out easy/cheap sex in poor countries.

Now AIDS exists everywhere and is most concentrated in the Philippines where the European sex tourist trade have literally converted the country into a big whore house.

  • Swine flu = nothing big.... I had it... I've had WAY worse colds. The headaches weren't bad either. I just took Aspirin or whatever and I was good. It was gone in a week or two.

  • @YouMockMe For those of you who don't know yer histry, flu of 1918-19, guy owned a office bilding in Chicago, told everyone to take asprin and soda bicarbonate—no one who wrkd in his building died.

Also, viruses die at 106 deg.; a shower at, say 125-130 will spot kill a lotta virus which is in your skin, . . .

  • Swine flu wasn't that bad, truth be told.

  • It will take more than 3 days for help to arrive. Get a kit and make a plan.

  • I totally agree with you. Complacency is so easy for folks to slip into, especially connected with Terrorism. We need to keep aware and act accordingly.

  • 0:14 lol That house is lolling me..

  • Water

    Katadyn Survivor.

Only pump in the world that can desalinate and filter viruses.

  • HI,

What kind of videocam are you using in these videos? Thanks!

  • 21,000,000 people were destroyed in 1918.

  • Good video. I grew up in Biloxi MS and understand the real need to be prepared.

  • That's a flat, windy place there.

    Where are the wind turbines?

  • the house behined you is upside down. oh my goodness!

  • That house in the background should probably be right side up. I'm just guessing since I'm not a licensed builder. :)

  • @Praxxus55712 That house is flipped over to show you how mad this guy gets about complacency.

  • @solgoode1 I'm pretty comfortable with the house being upside down though. I don't think we should get involved by righting it. Why make waves? Upside down is ok I guess.

The preceding was a joke, as was my previous comment. :)

  • LOL it would be quite ironic if during this very video a plane would have crashed onto the hut!

  • you should make a video about what to pack during a hurricane

  • you should make a video on what you should pack for a hurricane

  • complacency=death

  • I love watching your videos - even mentioned them in my blog.

Up until now I always agreed with what you said - here's the exception:

The big killer pandemic flu of 1918 became a killer because of the circumstances people were living in. The first world war destroyed many homes leaving millions starving and malnutritioned people without shelter.

Given this setting today even vaccinated people would die when infected with a normally "light" influenza.

  • You are absolutely right. People take their safety for granted thinking "oh, I'll be fine. This stuff happens often". As you sometimes hear, "it only takes one time".

  • pbs did a thing about the 1918 flu. you can find the dvd on their website or amazon

  • i dont see why people are so scared of swine flu...i got it pretty bad and i still came out fine. it doesnt even last very long when you get it, only about a week or so. but i do pray for the people who died from it.

  • Forget the overhyped "swine flu",more than 13,000 people have died of complications from seasonal flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's weekly report on the causes of death in the nation..

Even if there are swine-flu deaths outside Mexico -- and medical experts say there very well may be -- the virus would have a long way to go to match the roughly 36,000 deaths that seasonal influenza causes in the United States each year.

    Other than that,great video.

  • remember people, the last time we had swine flu scare, 1 person died from the flu and 26 died from the vaccine, and 4,000 immobilized!

  • @tsneds01 i know this was a 6 month old comment, but yes..i looked it up myself back when

    h1n1 was a "big" deal.

  • Why do you in US build houses using timber such as the one in the background. Surely if you live in a hurricane\tornado zone you should be building with concrete with a solid foundation\sub-structure that can withstand the storms. I realize these storms are profound, but at least there would be some protection and at least the property could be recovered.

  • don't take the vaccines. don't trust the government.

  • I won't. I don't.

  • good boy lol

  • @mrzack888 take vaccines. don't trust Alex joans

  • @mrzack888 the vaccines kill brain cells and deteriorate body function. My family has taken the vaccines, but I refused. I tried to tell them but they'll believe my nurse mother over me any day. How brainwashed the sheeple have become :(

  • I agree with you on the natural disaster point..

However it's not 1918, we are much better of with medical services today.

Swine flu will go the way of bird flu and SARS.

  • I subscribed because you're one of the good guys and you tell the Truth. I only put up my first two videos lately in a long time about things that really matter because I feel it in my spirit that we haven't seen the worst yet until people are off the grids for long periods of time. That could happen at any time even if the electric companies have a bad day on Wall Street, not to mention Mother EARTH is raging. Some will fall victim but we're nobody's fool are we? God Bless.

  • i agree with you nice comment!

  • its sad but we live in a world of false securitys.

  • I got a Honda generator, a solar panel and water filters.

  • Honda generators are only good for a cpl days or until you run outta fuel!

  • yep we are being lied to in our faces from the government! do not trust them just dont do it.

  • What is your water supply? When the power goes out, so will your water pressure, unless you have a ground well or live along a river.

  • River.

  • Sorry to hear about the lady in her house! Thank you for sharing precious info with us. God bless you guys out there!

  • come back to youtube start making video's again!!!!!!! :)

  • WHere is kev? He stop makin vids?

  • merlinofozark - I'am here. Are you a member of the forums? I have been posting there and on my blog.

  • im a lurker on your web forums. My wife said the government must have got you =D. we like your website, but we really enjoy your videos. we actually check every day or 2 for a new one.

  • Comment removed

  • Great stuff, thanks!

  • Funny you mention complacency in your video. That is what the residents of Florida are becoming because we have not had a big storm in a couple of years. We had a phrase on our FOB. It was painted on all the jersey barriers. "Complacency Kills"

  • kev bud, no new vids man. hope everything is ok

  • lmyhoosier - Are you on the forums? I have been posting there and on my blog. I posted an article about water pumps in the urban survival section of the forum today.

  • dang, i didnt realize that. havnt been on the site in a while. ill be going there daily from now on and look forward to reading your article on water pumps. still trying to decide what to buy

  • @survivalistboards Great channel, sir.

  • R U A mole?

  • I 'hoard' canned food too. Have a bunch of boxes now--aspirin, soap, t-p powdered milk and drinks, etc. however recently when I told a woman friend I was doing it, she said, "yeah? well you better look at the expiration date on that stuff. it goes bad after a while." i think she burst my bubble. wouldn't want to scarf down anything that would kill me if and when i survived doomsday, you know.

  • There is a trick for that. Eat the older stuff now and just replace it as you go. Also, make sure that the stuff you are stock piling is stuff that you use in good times. That way, you can use the older stuff now and still have a good supply of stuff that you know that you'll like in a pinch. One little bit of normalcy in a bad time can make life that much more tollerable.

  • I do agree. Many people seem to actually get angry at people who do take trouble seriously. I have heard people say they are sick of hearing about this or that or the other. They don't want to deal with people who are concerned about what may happen in a given disaster. The flu is the biggest one so far. Even seasoned survivalists seem to put down those who are worried about it. That worries me about where we may be if it does take off this fall.

  • There was Hurricane where I live in south texas about a year ago I thought it was going to be not thing but it started out as a 1 and by the end of the day it was 3 or 4

  • you really need to deal with the moderator "maurepas" on your site.

banning contributing members for thirty days when they ask a valid question by personal message doeesnt really strike me as beneficial to your website.

  • please stick with ur gun reviews ur alot better at that

  • kev is good at everything he does

  • nice video. thanks for paying respect for the dead too. nice one.

  • I know what you mean about folks being complacent. Here in Duluth MN folks get this false belief that tornadoes can't form here do to Lake Superior being out our back door. Now yes the cold dry flow from the lake can and most often does choke out local storm development, this factor will not always protect this city. And in late season when the lake i much warmer, the warmer moist air could easily and sometimes does feed storm development. It's best to stay prepared for the worst!

  • My grandpa was on his way to go over seas during ww1 . He caught the spanish influenza. He told me about how he laid in a field with thousands of other sick soldiers with mules and horses. He said there was a colored man laying next to him who kept saying he wished he was dead over and over he said the next morning he turned over to look at him and he was dead. You never know whats going too happen

  • awesome......

  • A picture speaks a thousand words....

  • Stop being a Moron.... oh you can't. LOL!

  • Oh, he's a stalker as well. Checking out my channel? Go watch someone light their own farts... suits you freak! LOL!

You must be 14 with nothing else to do.

  • tru .

  • Love your videos! The swine flu scare and the information on your board has prompted me to reach a level of preparedness I've never known before in my life. Keep up the good work.

  • That's my house in the background!

  • Cool dude. you must be a wild but when gohan got all pissed...i laughed harder then i have had in a long time

  • u r soooooo right

  • great vid thanks a lot.awesome.

  • you can get that hat at any army/navy store in your area!ask for a boonie hat

  • Very well said, it give you plenty to think about. Great Video.

  • I knew about the 1918 flu, but I did NOT know that it started out minor in the spring and went huge in the fall. Something to think about.

    Good vid.

  • This flu strain is different than the one that hit in 1918. The origin of this new strain is unknown. The reason they call it Swine Flu is because it resembles the genetics of the 1918 version.

Another man made virus created to thin the herd. Sad, isn't it??

  • it is man made. it is said to be a cross between human, avian and swine flu manufactured in a lab.

it is meant for eugenics use.

  • agreed.

Anyone notice the Chem Trails? How they always X? That ain't crop dust.

  • oh lord you cant possibly tell me you believe that the water vapor from airplanes are chem trails. you are very paranoid.

  • fail.

  • What I have learn you most be ready for the worst that you can efford to deal with

i take a few cansof food every month for a disaster BOX I now have three bug out bags and one large plastic BOX WITH WHEELS AND A HANDLE To carry my moble kitchen in a few minutes I can start cooking enough food for 8 to 12 people a meal

  • You're absolutely right. Always err on the side of precaution. I love your hat by the way. I wish I had one just like it.

  • It's called a boonie hat, you can find them for sale around the 'net.

  • You do brilliant videos Thanks

  • great vid

  • do they bild house's upside down in america

  • tard

  • Five Stars!!

  • Now that is what I call "being upside down in your house". Thanks for the videos. Your reviews, gardening tips, hunting tips, etc.. are great.

  • makes you think eh.

  • im 27 and have been going to Crystal all my life...one good thing is the water slide survived :D

the on on the left....not that shitty new one on the right

  • Comment removed

  • I Gotta ask.. What are YOU doing about this current swine flu?

  • Was that his house?

  • thanks for the vids

  • we're not in kansas anymore toto

  • where is that work of art exhibit located?

    :o)

  • exactly what i'v been thinking.

  • Damn...it looks like it was pretty bad for that house to be upside down... 0_o

  • you dont know the 1/2 of it if he turned around you would see where that house used to be more than 100+ yrds away you could tell from the way the ground looked houses used to be there but not anymore it looked like that for miles down the island! went there right after it was ok to start coming back(to be noses) and man Galvaston and the island futher down was hurt pretty bad. I live on the north side of houston we stayed in place tons of food water a generator and a solid building

  • It is always good to be prepared, including knowing when to get the hell out of Dodge.

  • Some people have an "Invincibility Complex" where they think that bad things always happen to 'someone else'. This is especially prevalent in older teens and some middle aged people. The point to always remember is that you are that 'someone else' for thousands of people. Don't play lotto with your life, always err on the side of precaution. Remember, it's always better to over-react and laugh about it later than to do nothing and not live to regret it.

  • The phrase by poster Otakop "you are that someone else for thousands of people" sums it up nicely

  • @0takop I just read this to my highly intelligent, but bad ass and bullet-proof teenager. LOL

  • This swine flu outbreak has encouraged me to increase my water and food preps as well as some face masks and such. it could become worse in the winter time so i want to be ready just in case it does.

I will be buying alot more food this summer just to be ready for what might happen.

    Great video.

  • I didn't know that about 1918(how they had a small weak outbreak several months before the real one). Good stuff to know. Thanks.

  • thats true about the 1918 flu a friend just got me a book on it. Wash your hands often especially after you return home. Get in the habit. I think that might help a little.

  • well put my friend. I live right next to the border. (south Texas) There were people at the malls that wore face masks. it is like that at most places around here. Hospitals required that you used hand sanitizer before getting on the elevator. Schools were shutdown for 1 to 2 weeks. Things are starting to ease up. but I do know where you are coming from. People are already talking about how this was only a miner flu problem, with no real bad symptoms. at least around here that is...

  • well said - the story of the boy who cried wolf.

  • Thank You

  • When we have a pending disaster we load the prius with things we need for a week at the motel and proceed north to AR see graceland. So far we have come home and had to toss the fridge food and cook some freezer food bc it had defrosted and was at fridge temp bc I store 2ltr/ice in the freezer and it is still ice after a week. We live in a trailer but have come out of some serious winds with minor damage. I will not live a week with out ac internet tv get a motel the govt pays it back.

  • The swine flu epidemic along with natural disasters, celebrity scandals, plane crashes, etc. make it into the news because they meet all the political criteria: theyre sensational so increase ratings, dont say anything about the real, systemic problems, and are distractions from the real problems. The real problems are created by the private industries that own and fund the media, so theyre not going to advertise their crimes.

  • The real problems are the perfectly legal, systemic ones that degrade or destroy each Americans life on a daily basis: tobacco kills 470,000 Americans annually and alcohol hundreds of thousands more, most deaths are linked to poor diet, and our stores are filled with deadly processed foods, pharmaceuticals are the fifth leading cause of death and the leading cause of addiction, but theres a war on drugs, the richest 1% owns 95% of the wealth in this meritocracy, the jobs dont pay anything for

  • the most part in the richest country in the world, were constantly at war invading countries to rip-off their resources and labor and on and on. The news is not the news. Its a distraction from the real news, so we dont know whats going on and therefore cant interrupt business as usual. Dont believe the hype. Fine, focus on possible natural disasters that are a real threat to you, but focus 1000 times more on the business created, systemic problems that are a 1000 times worse.

  • Excellent advice.

  • It's actually instinct.

It helps us learn that burning our finger on the stove is not the end of the world. It gives up tollerance to things, because we have something to compair it to.

So when your only huricane was a whimp, you will subconsiously compair the comming hurricane to the one that you expirienced.

Our instincts can sometimes work against us, especially if you don't know how to read them.

  • Vagitoe...you're dead on the money. I stayed though several hurricanes in the Carolina's including Hugo in 1989. Once I experienced the deadly force of a Category 4 hurricane I knew I'd never stay again. Funny thing is I had a tornado pass by me within 100 yards last year...that was even scarier!

  • Very good lesson, thank you :)

  • If ya want some good hurricane advice watch Ron White tater salad, lol. Ya i must admit i would at least probley ponder the idea of riding it out even though that a huge no no. Peace and Liberty for all.

  • very true, gotta treat each event as a potential threat. cause ya never know.

    thanks for the reminder

  • LESSON..

if there is a hurricane coming by don't be fucking stupid... you should run.. don't think the cardboard walls of your houses are going to protect you..

  • true very true.
