they fly props, the power comes on instantly. you cannot compare formation flying between props and jets, one is simply in a different league than the other.

Not so much, a tiny prop plane is much more susceptible to wind and atmospheric conditions than a larger jet aircraft with a fancy fly-by-wire system. I think it takes more overall piloting skills to fly props in close formation.

you clearly know nothing about aviation. there is no disputing that formation flight is easier in a prop, for many reasons. read a book.

Although my actual flight time has been quite limited, I've probably flown well over a million hours in every major simulator available, and in every one of them, props were much less forgiving and generally harder to maneuver precisely than modern jet fighters. Now you tell me why that would not apply to formation flying, and I'll consider reading said book.

I guess you have no Idea the diference to make acrobatics using a Propeller Plane and a Jet Plane. Blue Angels are good, but Smoke Squad of Brazil are the best one! A Think you believe who inveted planes was Wright Brothers too.... if yes... are wrong man, it was Santos Dummont.

@rodfran You have no clue what it takes to fly wing to wing in high performance jets like F-16's (USAF Thunderbirds) or F-18's (USN Blue Angels). The T-27 Is basically a trainer and has no where near the power, speed or complexity of a high performance jet. Your comments have no basis and make you look the fool.

@rodfran Most people have never even heard of the Smoke Squadron outside of Brazil, everyone know's the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds around the world for a reason, they are the best without argument.

@rodfran The problem with the Smoke Squadron is they are boring to watch, everything seems like it's in slow motion because the planes are slow , have terrible excelleration, climb rate is horrible it's just not fun to watch especially after you just saw the Thunderbirds fly 20 minutes before them.

@rodfran It's much easier to fly a slow plane in a multi plane display team than a fast one, because everything is happening 10, 20 times faster in the Jet, there's no comparison. The jet pilot will always be the superior pilot for what he has to accomplish during his routine.

Do you know why there isn't an official acrobatic teams ranking? Because this is something you CAN'T compare! It's easier to fly a slow plane than a fast one? That depends of what you are comparing. If it's a formation roll for example, for slow planes it's so much harder to maintain the formation than it's for a fast plane.

@rodfran A head on pass with closing speeds of nearly 1100mph about 10 feet apart is something the "Smoke Squadron" will never do. Have you ever seen a T-Bird show or an Angel show? and had the jets sneak up on you from behind at over 500mph to where it scares the shit out of you? That will never happen in a T-27 because they are to slow.

@rodfran I saw the Smoke Squadron at Dayton, and when it was their turn to do their show, most everyone got up to get food or check out the static display of planes, most did not watch the Smoke Squadron show because after watching the high speed, extremely loud, fast moving and exciting Jet display team it was like watching a B&W silent movie made in the 1920's compared to watching the Transformers in full 3D High Definition.

@rodfran Errr..all sites and wiki says he pioneered the balloon travel and provided new stuff for aviation tech as well as made first public european flight. But he didn't invent planes. ALSO wright brothers didn't invent planes. They were the first to successfully fly a heavier object w/ man in it using machine power (ie. engine). They got their ideas from Otto Lilienthal

Typical Latin flamboyant display, makes a change from the Red Arrows. Mind you they have the better manoevrability of a prop. trainer over a jet. Esquadrilha de Fumaca, previously equipped with the Morane Paris and Fouga Magister jet trainers.
