@Exorcistkanda What? Quality anime rose in the 80s and was at its peak in the 90s. DB/Z, Sailor Moon, 3x3 eyes, Akira, Ranma, Ghost in the Shell, Berserk, Record of Lodoss War, Fushigi Yuugi, Evangelion, others and many of Ghibli's best animes were all created in the 80s and 90s. Comparing the 80s and 90s animes, many animes in the 2000s are garbage.

Akira, Berserk, Dragon Ball and Z, Fushigi Yuugi, 3x3 Eyes, Ghost in the Shell, Detective Kindaichi, Ranma, Tenchi Muyo, Evangelion, Voltron, Ninja Scroll, Robotech/Macross, many of Ghibli's best animes and so on are the forefathers of many other animes in the 2000. There's very few great animes in the 2000+ that stand as original.

@nelsonta00 i agreed with the fact that you like old anime because i like them too. i know that it's dissapointing for fans like us to see the changes in anime today because most anime nowadays are not dark, bloody, violent and epic like the old ones. also, most anime nowadays aren't really using the japanese traditional styles anymore like dedicated songs, etc. however, i respect all kinds of anime.

by far, most great japanese songs don't sound like jap, but instead, most great japanese songs have beautiful notes that'll steals the heart of mankind to a whole new different world whether they understand the language or not. sadly, japanese anime and japanese songs are not at their golden age like the 80s and 90s. such a beautiful song from yuko sasaki sama.

This anime is horrible yet "Pure Snow" and the ending theme "Change the Color of the Moment" are some of the best vocal and instrumental songs that I've EVER heard for an anime. They play on my I-Pod daily :) A bit ironic really...

Interestingly there are parallels with actual japanese ancient history. A woman known only as Himiko did rule a place in japan and corresponded with the chinese empire at that time.

The anime was based on the video game but the anime came out first, and I still consider one of the best animes to ever come from a video game. And it's Op is one of the best of the 90's

Actually, this song is also the op of the Himiko Den game on PSX, and it makes more sense to the game than the anime. In the game, only Kutani goes back to the past (Himiko doesn't go back). You have to use Kutani to establish the country. At the same time, you can go after the queen candidates and "girlfriend candidates" (some of them are friends and they don't appear in the anime). At the end of the game, you can choose to return to the present or stay with your girl.

There was a huge argument about this opening when the series first came out because the directing looks just like Lodoss War: Heroic Knight opening. The main guy and girl was not featured in this intro (wtf?), and the story and animation of the anime are very bad.

crap - yes. i checked this anime out and the plot is SOOO dam lame and cliched and boring. there's yuri in there somewhere as well apparently, which is obvious since all the main characs are female and the only guy is a minor char. low budget - not really, the animation quality seems poor rite now, cus this was made ages ago, in 1998/9, when this was the norm for animation quality.

but the opening is great, even if series is crap lol.

I did a little research you can still find this album. The song 'Pure Snow' can be found on her album 'PURE'(#PICL-1182)that was released back in 1999. I'm surprised this album is still around. But the sample I heard for the full version was even more incredible! :)
