One of the great skates of all time! To see another fantastic version of this, look up the 2003 World Championships, exhibition. A year after winning bronze in Salt Lake, she brings the house down and wins her 5th world title. The Worlds took place in Washington, so the audience was particularly ecstatic! Right before she took her starting pose, a man yelled "Will you marry me!!" and the audience lost it. Really fun.
Michelle Kwan rightfully deserved her bronze as a third place alongside that of Irina Slutskaya- 2nd place and Sarah Hughes who deserved gold as for that matter. It doesn't matter how much gold that would make the athlete superior in every way, but Sarah performed best while Sasha performed miserably. Had Sasha not suffered, she would have best be placed 2nd instead of going for third place. Her spirals were brilliant, but the level of competency is nowhere at the level of Michelle's.
@getrealandsee We can't hear you: you're drowned out by all the standing ovations given to Gold Standard Michelle Kwan, even at her practice sessions.

Namely, that judging results are predetermined by reputation and that only major spills can alter the outcome. That if Kwan fell down three times, she would still get at least a bronze medal because of her stature in the sport.
@kwansansog Known for being the most decorated skater in US history who was the beloved face of the sport despite the Lipinski and Cohen detractions from it.

@kwansansog That must be why, also, Lipinski and Sasha were repeatedly crushed by Kwan.
Oh, right: the judges were only corrupt when they awarded Kwan her wins. The rest of the time they were honest and upstanding.
