  • first of all, kenny is dancing in a fucking concrete floor..... second he has power too, third a bboy is someone who can fucking dance 1st of all..... 4th, powermoves is just a plus, not the essence

5th, is better to do the basics and DANCE than be creative off the beat.....

  • The Bruce Deeuoukayeey Dominating Force (El Camino Real High School Class of 1999, Woodland Hills San Fernando Valley, California)

  • I remember going to a few house party's with Kenny, back in the day. I could't wait for him the floor because he left the whole place awestruck! He truly is one of the greatest of all time.

  • i dont see whats so good about him?

  • @kinglynx

Are you new to the culture? To most people unaware they think this is boring and only find amusement in the spinning and hopping.

  • @kinglynx - Everything has context and by putting a thing into it's proper context - you get a better perspective - And in the Timeline of Break Dancing or B Boying - Prince Ken Swift's is stamped within it - for obvious reasons - where as your name is not known. Why do think that is ?

  • Ken Swift for President!!!

  • ken swift-best bboy

WaspRiot- best bboy live music act

    = carnage lol

  • This was really street dance back in the days.

  • back in the 80s

  • One white kid hates this vid.lol jk

  • If u don't have a clean six step you shouldn't break

  • @dipsetridaman212 your practically saying every powerhead shouldnt be bboying because there six step isnt clean.

  • Pulling Power moves with out style looks busted man

  • Power moves just mean you went to gymnastics class u can't teach style and originality

  • AWESOME

  • B-BOY PERSONIFIED!

  • bboy legend he does it to perfection, never stop dancing and he stays on the beat, respect

  • two minutes and fifty two seconds of inspiration.

  • This footage is originally from Ken's documentary that came out back in 97 or 98.

  • please what the title of the song of this video

  • father of foundation..

  • best bboy ever "hands down ".mad respect to ken swift

  • might as well be KING Ken Swift... mad inspiration and respect to the original....

  • original b boy at work,peace

  • kwn swift took it to the new schoooolll

  • I love it, I started dancing back in the 80's. I'm 37 now (dang where did the time go), but I see all these different styles on youtube, but these bboy vids are the only ones that bring back that good feeling, from an old bboys heart, Thank you guys for keeping us alive (misty eyed here). Dont get me wrong progress is good, but very little art in the power moves, a bboy has balance and can do both. Keep it moving bboys!!!

  • I feel with you. I am younger than you, but still I feel already very old. I miss parts of the "good old times", however I also love modern bboying like Morning of Owl, Physicx, Machine ...

I think bboys should include a lot more style. Powermoves are all fine, but they get boring if you dont have any style.

I also miss the old original "streetdancing" crews... here in central europe suicide lifestyle often went from city to city performing ... that was so cool

  • @shevegen

Yo, Do you know Attyla from Suicidal Lifestyle? He was living in my city here in California for about 5 years and just moved back to Hungary a few months ago.

  • "I see plenty of Breakdancers but not B-Boys"- Icey Ice(NYC BREAKERS). Prince Ken Swift- The boy is NASTY!

  • and if you dont have any feel for the music and all your doing is spining. then i dont give a fuck who you are your not a bboy. Machine is a bboy , Crumbs , Flo master , K-mel , Ivan , Reveal,Ken swift, Ez Rock, all this these brothers are bboys and they deserve mad Respect. I love footwork because it allows me to invent new moves power you cant its spinning Trust me i know i can take out most people in power moves. you go to have the fanesse and character. I learn it from the modesto Kats

  • well i can tell you first hand i started off doing power. I know windmills Halos flares airtracks , headspins so yyeah power is all the same to me. i dont even practice power anymore its that easy. but bboying has always been about being orginal and having character not just spining all the time because that all i see now. Ivan is a bboy with lots of flavor he just doesnt do spin he puts character into the dance.

  • Where is he dancing?

  • fuck gymnastics you power heads have no flavor no originality no feel for the music. you dont know what bboying is because your still breakdancers.

  • you got that right!

  • yo u know u sound stupid for writin that commen right??? u can have style but not be a true bboy, but just like anybody else power heads express themselves through power moves and style heads through style..i dnt care how much style u have, every inspiring BBOY must have atleast a few powermoves because its still part of the dance...i hope ur not an E-boy p.s "dance to express not to impress"

  • yes

  • @Bravalin so theres no style in powermoves?

  • @4CHANGE4U

I would say there is extreme difficulty in power moves but not many bboys have put style into them like bboy Ivan, machine, or ez rock have.

  • @tobiasf916 Ivan's the man. He's been my favourite B-boy since I first saw him at an event in England, back in February '97.

  • @bugstrut

That's right around the time I met him. We met in Oakland California USA at a rave called Planet Rock. Those were the days.

  • @Bravalin hell yea. im all style though i use power moves too but i still win battles cuz you do a headspin once its gonna be shit when u do it again, but when you ddflavrto i say roll back into a deadman drill from footwork now thats orginality

  • @Bravalin I agree while one may be able to spin longer lets say with power I think style is more important... but style wise and the actual art of moving to the music free-styling to it the natural chaos that ensues in a b-boy..Prince Swift just has that natural flow to his style.. No kinks in his style..

  • @Bravalin

    1. breakdancer, breaker and bboy is the same person, same kind of dance. 2. powermoves are essential element of bboying 3. You're weak breakdancer and jealous asshole hating people just because they have better skills than you. 4. You're really so dumb for thinking that some simple footsteps like sixstep or cc's makes you a great original bboy ?

  • Without Ken Swift This culture would be dead his a legend so have respect

  • CHEEKS19831983 you can be the best dynamic mover the best what you want to call it or what the fuck. Ken Swift Deserves it ALL and ALL. I can feel the best but never can have his RESPECT.

  • kid you can't be serious.

  • You're judging from one tape. The guy could do most all of the powermoves clean, he just doesn't use them that much in his sets so that he could be original and basically the style of footwork and tops he does/transitions, have been the influence over the ENTIRE WORLD for the past thirty years.

    That's not overrated, that's truth.

  • your freakin right..

  • stop bboying now

  • Prince Ken Swift = True B-Boy that knows what it is to Break on the Beat ;-) Mad respect for you Kenny.

Nathan aka: Gadget (Boogie Brats Crew)

  • The one B Boy who I think took Kenny's style to the next level is Abstrak. Kenny always had that style that you didnt need to see these big power moves more than just having an original, dope style. Abstrak is in a lot of ways the new era of that style. His top rock, floor work and overall ability to dance to the beat makes him in my eyes one of the best as far as the original style is concerned.

  • I don't think Abstrak took Ken's style to the next level, Abstrak is dope in a different way, Ken's dope in his way, Abstrak did not top Ken Swift.

  • guys today are better at powermoves and other tricks, but as far as style and expression goes, i think those old legends beat them easily. it was a real culture, not "just a sport"

  • Im still keeping the culture alive in the innercitie suburbs

  • He's one of the creators (bow) RESPEEECT!!!

  • when I first started and i used to watch clips of Ken Swift and old school cats, I used to wonder why everyone thought they were so great. Now that I have 2 years under my belt and understand the culture and the dance more, he's become one of my inspirations.

  • word.

  • @dannylu0ng

Damn. 2 years. I'm glad you discovered which part of the culture works for you. As for me, I fell in love with bboyin on Oct 10, 1994! Yes I remember that date cause 3 days after I started I met my very close friend BBoy Gerald(formly R4C) in our hometown of Sacramento Ca

  • Ken Swift is my hero

    lol

  • He was murdered years ago, execution style, a sad thing. Kuriaki, and Frosty Freeze have both passed as well.

  • That was Buck 4 you're thinking of. Ken Swift is still alive and still b-boying.

  • I know, I was replying to someone who was asking about Buck 4. I'm not stupid.

  • hahah calm down

  • ei, can i ask u guyz question, so who is alien ness? is he also came from the same era as ken swift?

  • just about.Alien Ness was also at one point apart of Rock Steady Crew

  • Ken Swift, a revolutionary Bboy that's made Bboying into what it is today, focusing on creativity, style, originality, flava, musicality, etc. I honestly believe that he was the one that made Bboying an art form rather than just an excuse not to fight or to gain money. Mad props to the Prince. To fresh, filthy, nasty, and dope.

  • he like dance near the graffit XD

  • Living legend! HEY YOU! ROCK STEADY CREW!

  • the prince himself will always be respected in this culture of hiphop, forever still laying down his mark in history.

  • woww the LEGEND..great to c one o the founders still breaking nw..

thx ken swift for everyting u've done for bboying..much respect to you

  • prince ken swift

  • At 0:42/43, look at the way he does his CC, my goodness, it looks like he's floating and his legs look like water flowing.

In just even the simple basic things of bboying, he does them in a way that if one knows what bboying is about, it's like, wow, he's a superhuman artist that taps in to his flavor in a way that I don't think I've ever seen from anyone else.

  • Boricuas

  • MUCH RESPECT DUE!!!

  • Yup! he's got that up rock style thats missing in most break dancing. It is the swift break that gives this dance style the flavor.

    Nice post!

  • footage of him battling is always priceless. Check out his battle with Kamel... Classic

  • "'swift wizard' in footwork techniqe". bboying in it truest form right here

  • Im pretty sure Swift and Storm are about my two favorite bboys ever cuz of there style and over all craziness.

  • keep rocking ken, you've already inspired bboy born with ur mad style!,keep it up

  • To reboxnz-You should refer that to mr who thinks he knows it all-Nikitobu.

  • To nikitobu-Holyfiremikys right you dont make sense, cause it shows that you dont have knowledge what so ever, you dont know the diffrence bettwen power or style, its simple, power has no rawness, has no funk,no blueprint, and has no flow,no rthym etc...this is like arguing about, who was a greater Mc,PUN,BIGGY,or 2pac, to me it was PUN,debating an issue on,bboying,Mc'n,Dj'n,Graffiti is very easy, only if you study it from day one to now bro that will keep you informed,or else dont talk about hills&shit

  • kamel took out gamblers (freestyle jpan 2003)

    Kenny took out kamel (1998)

    nuff said

  • I fuking hate how everyone just like seeing powerheads bust out airflares and shyt

That's tight, but when people see a style head doin steps they start thinkin he sucks

Ken Swift should show the public that foundation and tops are the true art of bboying

Not busting out randomn powermoves unless you're like physicx

  • Style is POWER, get it?

  • Ken has great footwork and style but he doesn't have the combinations along with power moves like todays bboys.

Check out Westcoast IVAN hes got old school moves mixed with newones.

Dont get me wrong i admire Ken but hes over the hill.

  • hell no, u loozer!

  • That's because Ivan is decades after Ken Swift, Ivan was breaking when many of those new moves were already established or being made up, where as Ken, is from the generation, that made those up or were before those moves were invented.

And you keep praising Ivan everywhere in videos, and you tell me I'm too old to break when I'm around ten years younger than Ivan, you dont' make sense.

  • Oh, and I told you the other time, name one move, that Ken Swift doesn't or hasn't done before, or probably even created anyway.

The only one I can think of, is the airflare, solar eclipses, and airchair/variations.

  • Minus mainly those three moves, EVERY other move in bboying from old to new, Ken Swift does or has done and did before many others. If you can think of any other to back up your claim that he didn't do anything else other than footwork, than name those moves, and we'll put that to the test.

  • i miss real breaking now all the breakers only know how to do power mave they got no style no foot work the shit is wak

  • you just said no breaker alive has style...how many bboys do you know/have you watched? real breaking is still alive, and its in competitions and battles all the time, people just dont appreciate it. but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

  • heh heh - ya gotta luv some of the comments here! You can watch Ken Swift do his thing and you either 'get it' or you don't. Kids today - you think it all started with you!

  • if thats to old school, thats true school

    respect to ken swift.

  • if thats to old school, thats true school

    respect to ken swift.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhh you all make me sick!!

For Real respekt for ken swift he's a legend

but TODAY there are many Bboys which are much batter than him, because they have style flavour aaaaaannnnnnnnnndddddd Powermoves blow ups and something.......say what you want but for me he is OLD SCHOOL!

  • Ken Swift can do halos, mills, headspins, all the powermoves, there's just not that much footage of it on youtube. He was one of the early ones doing, airbaby glide spins, that you see Extreme crew doing.

You say you know he's a legend, how much do you really know, and how much have you really seen of Ken's Swift dancing history, only youtube small clips?

  • style no breaker now got style

  • i was practicing with Ken Swift on Thursday at some High School in Manhattan him n some dude from the 7 gems were practicing routines it was basically just him n a dude from his crew n my crew just dancing it was pretty crazy(there was 1 bgirl there but i didn't know who she was) it was pretty cool to be dancing with such a legend

  • (bgyrl) the first one to answer the call! thank you! PuertoRicans from NY and P.R. we need to get back and show the world that we still here and we are some of the best Bboys out there! bgyrl i"ll be in touch.

  • sinankarabulut92 are you retarded ?

  • Bro the moves are right in front of you! it's about the b-boy style.

  • Only to have style and flavour is not all.....breakdance is more.....What about Blow ups or Powermoves you can do so much dude

  • Yeah, and Ken Swift can do all of it, again, are you judging a legend who's been dancing for thirty or so years, based on a three minute video clip?

  • if it wasnt for old school we wouldnt have new school dip shit

  • lol

lay your foundations first before building those sky-scrapers

    this is still a DANCE

powermoves and blowups are just add-ons

  • movements! not moves!!!

  • power moves arent BBoyin, bboyin is a dance and its not about blow ups n what not its about the basics if u go to a battle and only do air tracks and flares some1 who can uprock wud destroy u with the beat bboyin is and always will be about the dance so if u come with the idea its about power moves n blow ups n try to battle u WILL lose any battle u enter

  • or maybe you forget that this is dance. In all honesty if your too simple to understand what this guy is doing then your shouldn't at all get into this dance!!

  • Like I said, he has the moves, but they're not in this video, and you have to realize, that the guy who starts talking at 0:13, bboy Trac 2, he's even older school than Ken Swift, he's a breaker from the 70's. And do you know what he did, Trac 2, was the first to put flares in to breaking, he used to be a gymnast before dancing.

Old school did all of the powermoves you see today, but they rather do more original moves,

  • rather than only wowing the crowd, because true art, isn't just about wowing the crowd. The first airtrack caught on tape, guess what, was in the 80's believe it or not.

Do you really know bboy history to talk the way you are right now, or is everything you know only based on youtube. Bboying was around thirty years before youtube.

  • The Boricua's are the best fucking break dancer's baby just were it started in the SOUTH BRONX

  • boricua para seimpre!

  • Kenny is my idol. Nuff said. He is the illest bboy of all time. When he's at his best, nobody can touch him. Originality personified.

    -Schizo (FSC)

  • ken swift's style is so sickkk

  • Respect.

  • gooodness graaaaacious!!! kenny is just original and represents talent. like crazy, those 2 best buddies look really really hot at their 40's now. very hot puerto rican the two of them(crazy and kenny) if buckey and kuriaki were still alive they probly be in their 40s too, dancin like the teens they were in the early 80's, and would accompany crazy and kenny.

  • crazy and swift look really good for there ages they shoulld be around 40 odd

  • Kenny is like 38 or 37

  • Ken is 41 and still gets down like he was a teen.

  • dammn, does anyone have this beat or know where to get it?

  • wow i see where born got his moves from haha 1:32 ive seen born do that 1 before

  • The Freshest Kids is DA BOMB !!!!

Thanx Ken for the inspiration over the many years ,

All you nu skool heads need to do your homework !!!!

Ken Swift is Ken Swift everyone else is just trying to catch up .....

  • yeah real shit !

  • yea i kno.. but im sayin.. its like born andred foots style.. or in other ways. they are like swifts style. same diff man ;)

  • Kenny IS bboying, like Rome, all roads lead to him or from those he influenced and only those who 'really' know will admit that, peace to all those who spent a lifetime paving the way and to the young b's who read up,x

  • this guy is crazy, his style inspired Born and now look at Born, he killin everyone

  • We all have some elements from Kenny in our up and toprocks, in our styles and footworks, in our movements, freezes and nekmoves. He is one of those B-boys who build it up. So Ryokin03 you should make your homework.Belive it or not!! Thats influence. Respect to da architects.

  • its like born's and red foot's style.

  • HAHA YOU STUPID

  • ken swifts one of the main reasons born does style moves now, you shoulve seen him before

  • Ken swift's been breaking since the 80's brother, Born and red foot weren't even born yet when Ken started breaking.

  • Ken actually started in the late 70s.

  • Yeah, I meant that he's been breaking since the 80's, not that he started in that time. I just thought of Born's age, which is around mines, and he was born after 1980, so I only had to make a reference to Kenny breaking before Born's birth, stretching back to the 70's would've been unnecessary.

Bboying of course got media mass attention in the 80's, but did start in New York in the 70's,

  • with guys back then like the Nigga twins, and DJ Kool Herc, in a time where their fathers were off fighting in Vietnam, etc etc hahaha, no worry man, I know those parts, but thanks for sharing brotha.

  • yeah man..he's crack! i love his style.

  • i luv him too! He is a legend... simply the best!

  • I LUV DIS NIGGA!
