WOW! I always thought this was an INXS song. It got some minor airplay in the U.S. in 1983 and I've spent almost 30 years(!) trying to find this. Thanks for posting!
And, DAMN, the men from the Southern hemisphere are fine!
@JOHNT65202 maybe BTjunkie.... I think I'm probably one of the busiest unpaid Aussie music promotor... somebody with more power than I should put this shit on itunes.
Awesome. Guess I'm one of the few that bought the cassette here in the US, but I played it over and over and over. Wish it was available on cd/download, one I would definitely pay for again. This is just one of at least 6 fantastic songs on the album.
After Shopping Himm's, at the Hospital, at 4, no one that was with-in the blood lines was to be fagged U f*#cked O Z, so you picked the un-blooded brother of to U Mi, to vender U're sickness, Dumb Frate :)
Just read he died last year and lived in Hawthorn. I used to go to Uni in Hawthorn. Man what a small world. Of course I'm a million miles across the world at the moment and it feels so far away :(. If only I got into their music sooner. Always a shame when talent is no longer with us.
@RustaBrandenburg0000 yeah, that's australia... one inspired by new york and british punk can end up writing music for children. One of the guys from Devo did the same for Rugrats.
WoW I just discovered this song and a bunch of other stuff from Models. WOW How did I not hear about these guys when I was a kid? This is a killer song!
Yes, fantastic, saw this band many times.. RIP James, he always seemed so intense, if he could only have let loose, especially with this song, let it all out, man, it's got the potential, this track, where he could have got down & dirty, know what I mean, ... Still, love this immensely, brings back awesome memories, especially the Sunshine Coast, I love you. :-)
Young Enstein being played in the United States made me appreciate this type of music. To this day that movie soundtrack is still my all time favorite.
Its how I wanted to remember James, young arrogant on fire and cool. He was a great role model for hanging in there with major depression. Forget the substance abuse it just covered for serious depression that would test any of us. He left his demons here on earth and I believe that he is by gods side arguing over the eyeliner pencil being cheap. Force this cheap assed government to reinstate long term psychotherapy for people not 2x6 medicare shit session stuff
@nzoz1983 Christ! Just this moment after I read your comment, I was thinking..."No, that can't be right...." had to Google it.... RIP James Freud
I was playing this (on cassette, still) on my car radio only the other day. The Models were one of the many classic Oz bands of the 80's. For me this song, "God Bless America", "On" etc all showed me that some Australian musicians had their "ear to the ground" so to speak when it came to the emerging "industrial" scene from overseas. You think so?
I seen them a few times live in their heyday...they did a reunion gig about 9 years ago at fox studios Sydney (I have a poster) and they a fourth on the list for a gig next month somewhere some time...soon
@mastertusk They were listed play for "A Day On The Green" and I was all set to go but that has now been changed to just "Sean Kelly from the Models" :( They must have had a dispute amongst the band.
@sedoble Really...as they were advertising it as the full line up...they were known for their bust-ups...or maybe the others just couldn't get it together...probably for the best.
From back in the day when men were men and women fucked them, unlike the world these day, you could go to a gig, rock hard, pick up a babe with a smile and fuck without worrying if your dick would drop off. I worked with these guys, they did this song live better than the recording. Real musicians, not like the fucktards these days.
