  • @xxRazorJadexx RIP James Freud (bassist) ... and yeah, you're right. I'm sure your comment would have amused him.

  • cool track!

  • Kelly the one that looks like the Doctor?

  • WOW! I always thought this was an INXS song. It got some minor airplay in the U.S. in 1983 and I've spent almost 30 years(!) trying to find this. Thanks for posting!

And, DAMN, the men from the Southern hemisphere are fine!

  • @ktmggg Fine, talented and greatly under estimated... that was 1980's Australia... so much potential, so overlooked... oh well.

  • What are they saying starting 1:50 to 2:00?

  • @Jaurus "Or you can walk out".

  • Is this available for download anywhere? I sure can't find it. Awsome song!

  • @JOHNT65202 maybe BTjunkie.... I think I'm probably one of the busiest unpaid Aussie music promotor... somebody with more power than I should put this shit on itunes.

I bring my compilation CD out every time we have a dinner party .

do do... do do do do .... I HEAR MOTION !!

  • Awesome. Guess I'm one of the few that bought the cassette here in the US, but I played it over and over and over. Wish it was available on cd/download, one I would definitely pay for again. This is just one of at least 6 fantastic songs on the album.

  • saw Sean Kelly performing this with Boom Crash Opera .. amazing!

  • Just read he died last year and lived in Hawthorn. I used to go to Uni in Hawthorn. Man what a small world. Of course I'm a million miles across the world at the moment and it feels so far away :(. If only I got into their music sooner. Always a shame when talent is no longer with us.

  • I wonder if Sean Kelly sings this when he is taking a shit.........

  • Just a bit curious as to who shoved a stick up Sean Kelly's bum.

  • @brianab31 any of the other three!

  • i have no resistance to long distance..

  • THIS GUY WROTE THE ROUND THE TWIST THEME SONG. STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN AY

  • @RustaBrandenburg0000 yeah, that's australia... one inspired by new york and british punk can end up writing music for children. One of the guys from Devo did the same for Rugrats.

  • Dear anonymous androgynous deity which requires attention. James was a superstar. Sorry we couldn't help.

  • How fantastic... I remember this great song from my childhood...

    RIP James.

  • super track - sean kelly is just the coolest dude, kinda quiry, kinda aloof, always interesting.....still have this album on vinyl!

  • Yes, fantastic, saw this band many times.. RIP James, he always seemed so intense, if he could only have let loose, especially with this song, let it all out, man, it's got the potential, this track, where he could have got down & dirty, know what I mean, ... Still, love this immensely, brings back awesome memories, especially the Sunshine Coast, I love you. :-)

  • good fn song.

  • Man, he looks like a younger Alan Rickman.

  • Young Enstein being played in the United States made me appreciate this type of music. To this day that movie soundtrack is still my all time favorite.

  • RIP James, you are missed.

  • I saw these guys at Western Springs as a Back up for Police 1984 I think ......

They kicked arse live & loud !!!!!!!!!

  • INXS WELL no but!

  • 6 people were tapping their fingers on their mouse to re-enact the synthesizer parts and accidentally pressed dislike.

  • Funky, Avant-Garde, and the band look excellent!

  • They Models NOT The Models totally different separate name some know about clarification.

  • Nzoz thank you for this clip.

Its how I wanted to remember James, young arrogant on fire and cool. He was a great role model for hanging in there with major depression. Forget the substance abuse it just covered for serious depression that would test any of us. He left his demons here on earth and I believe that he is by gods side arguing over the eyeliner pencil being cheap. Force this cheap assed government to reinstate long term psychotherapy for people not 2x6 medicare shit session stuff

  • @euqsabtnatillim very well said.. and here here for the last line.

  • @euqsabtnatillim Who is cheap?

  • @euqsabtnatillim I HEAR YOU on all counts!

  • @nzoz1983

    :-( James :-(

this is probably my fav Models song.

  • @nzoz1983 LMAO

  • @nzoz1983 Christ! Just this moment after I read your comment, I was thinking..."No, that can't be right...." had to Google it.... RIP James Freud

I was playing this (on cassette, still) on my car radio only the other day. The Models were one of the many classic Oz bands of the 80's. For me this song, "God Bless America", "On" etc all showed me that some Australian musicians had their "ear to the ground" so to speak when it came to the emerging "industrial" scene from overseas. You think so?

  • RIP James. May you never be forgotten

  • damn shame....great song

  • Comment removed

  • Love you James.....RIP...... :-(

  • RIP James

  • great tune !!!!

  • Young Einstein soundtrack :P

  • I seen them a few times live in their heyday...they did a reunion gig about 9 years ago at fox studios Sydney (I have a poster) and they a fourth on the list for a gig next month somewhere some time...soon

  • @mastertusk They were listed play for "A Day On The Green" and I was all set to go but that has now been changed to just "Sean Kelly from the Models" :( They must have had a dispute amongst the band.

  • @sedoble Really...as they were advertising it as the full line up...they were known for their bust-ups...or maybe the others just couldn't get it together...probably for the best.

  • From back in the day when men were men and women fucked them, unlike the world these day, you could go to a gig, rock hard, pick up a babe with a smile and fuck without worrying if your dick would drop off. I worked with these guys, they did this song live better than the recording. Real musicians, not like the fucktards these days.

  • @AK40fication amen brother

  • This is genius..classic stuff

  • 2:15, luv that bass groove.

  • im 14 and i just heard of this band and its awesome i wish they still made music like this nowadays the songs suck

  • seen em live , good band . fark im an old karnt

  • sweet old school tune ! love it

  • A long shot, but you haven't seen the clip to "No Shoulders, No Head" in your travels, have you? Or "Cold Fever"? (Yes, I know with the latter this is the wrong year to ask, but eh...)

Wish I could track these down. :/

  • @TheFlyslip i got both clips!

  • @nzoz1983 NO WAY! Any chance of seeing them? :)

  • @TheFlyslip i'll see what i can do... give me a bit of time

  • @TheFlyslip No Shoulders No Head is now on this channel... just go into this channel and check.

  • @TheFlyslip Hi too all who read this he was,is a great man brilliant mind and sole some of the most ground braking song writer's in Australian music ,80,90s Barbados -modern girl, two cabs to the toucan,Out of Mind, Out of Sight, are in the 80s hall of fame...

make no mistakes about this man with his looks moves and charisma will always be unmarketable brilliant , the hard knocks were never taken lightly

  • Nzoz = best user on youtube.

  • @damosanchex thank you :)

  • @damosanchex What r u on??... Yeh, DRUGS!!!

  • I lived in oz during 1981-1986, just glad i was there 2c some quality oz and nz bands, from watching them on sounds,or going my first live concerts, it was a golden age of music which i dont think will be repeated. I miss those days.. from inxs, oils, chisel, oz crawl, models, hoodoo gurus, divinyls, split enz, pseudo echo, ect... loved em all

  • @STOKEOZ1967 You've got good taste, good on ya.

  • @Forserean Thanks for your reply mate, my first australian gig was Rose tattoo, who were headlining, with support from Dragon, the Church, radiators, the allnighters, and avion, at western suburbs footy oval in lidcombe, sydney in 1983, awsome mate.

  • @STOKEOZ1967 i was there as its only 20min from my house, what a great time it was,i think i still have the hangover from that concert lol.

  • @xxxdids I was living in strathfield [nsw] in 1983, so we didnt have to far to travel, i think we all went by train to the concert, i was only 15 at the time so i couldnt drink!, i made up for it since!! I still have the eureka rock gig t - shirt, and it still fits!, thanks for your reply.

  • Love how this song was used in Young Einstein

  • This song was on the first record i owned, when I was just 13yrs old.

Thru The Roof : Hits of '83 ... Thems was the good 'ol days : )

  • Can't get my eyes off that keyboard player.Wonder if he is still as beautifully handsome

  • @german029 According to the girls screaming at him at the show they played last Friday in Melbourne, yes. :) (His name's Andrew Duffield).

I prefer the drummer, Barton Price. What a cutie then... and now! ;)

  • I can see Alan Rickman and a cast member from Seaquest DSV in this clip.

  • Awesome single. Along with early Hunters and Collectors these guys were really pushing Australian music to the innovative edge during the early 1980's.

  • aussie music was the best in the 80's, god i miss those days

  • Man I used to love the Models when I was a kid... saw them live one time only & will never forget it ")

  • This is an amazing song... And that James Freud, pwahhhh ;) :D:D:D

  • Love this sooooo much :)))))

  • HA! This is wonderful! Thanks for the video.

  • @GroovySistah No worries.. thanks for being open minded and liking it. Nice change from the tiresome 'did it play on MTV?' comments.

  • @nzoz1983 Do not care much for where it played. I care for liking it and I do, so very much. Always a pleasure to find new bands with a cool sound.

  • @GroovySistah If only more YT users thought like you... thank you.

  • the golden age of australian music, when our bands were more interesting than the rest of the worlds. long gone now.

  • young einstein :D

  • slut

  • I saw them live loads of time, awesome band.

  • Was looking for the Boston band The New Models and came across this. Not bad but I dont remember them. Did they get any play in the states?

  • @SuperSkidude Out Of Mind Out Of Site reached 36 on the US Billboard chart in 1985, so yes, they did... They began as an avant-guard post-punk band (check nzoz1980, nzoz1981, nzoz1982, for proof) and ended up becoming a chart band (in Australia only). Like most Aussie bands (good and bad), they fucked up everywhere else. That's Aussie music for ya.

  • by far the best Models song. NOW LET IT OUT..... what a cracker of A DRUM BEAT AND SOLO

  • underbelly!!

  • I think is a bit slow on the uptake but otherwise this is not a bad song

  • what, no sax?

  • @mbatfreak This is Models, pre-James Valentine.

  • @ulujain Whos playing Bass then? :-)

  • @CharlieVanders22020 James Freud.

  • What's Draco Malfoy doing on drums?! lol

  • Oh Yeah.... Sean Kelly had it going on!!!

I remember seeing The Models plenty of times in Sydney in the 80's but one night in a club downstairs somewhere near Circular Quay stands out!

The 80's rocked! You could go out & have a blast without fearing for you safety & a good time was had by all!

  • Doesn't it seem like this song should have been in the movie Dark City at one point (Or even in the credits?)

  • Somewhat...

A piece of useless trivia. A friend of my dad's plays an extra in that movie - seeing as part of it was shot in Aus.
