I had trouble with the subsonics half of them would misfire and they are very inconsistent. Next time I am sticking with the hyper velocity's much cleaner and never fail.
Why shoot subsonic if you are not going to use a suppressor? There is not enough difference in the sound level to justify the extra cost. But in my 597 with the suppressor attached the only sound you hear is the bolt cycling. I get 1/2 inch groups out of my 597 with the suppressor attached and using Remington subsonic ammo. I have never had a failure to feed. There is nothing wrong with this ammo.
just shot 100 of these today, put most of them through my Romanian Model 69 bolt action without any problems and they were reasonably quiet. Also shot about 10 through my 10/22, but in that gun they ware almost as loud as regular supersonic ammo, probably due to my 18 inch target barrel and semi-auto action.
they are crap ,to waxy & oily the heads are loose, the accuracy is poor & the sodding things jam a total waste of money . Buy cci never a problem in the last 1000 shot,
@Migs4000 i have had a 10% fail rate in the ammo i bought from them, oh they are impossible to get ahold of when you have a problem. my problems are just with defective primers.
@Migs4000 i agree..ive had the remmington subsonics not go off, even had a casing crack in the gun. and they make ma gun dirtier quicker..never had a prob with the cci either
I dont think the the subsonic hollow points are designed to expand they are more of a "match hollow point" the hollow point aids in bullet stability. try the CCI velocitor if you wanna see some good expansion results in a 22 LR.
@PyroGeeks Yes these are quieter, but not by such an amount that you could shoot them in an urban environment without disturbing people. With supersonic rounds there is a loud 'crack' when the bullet breaks the speed of sound. These don't crack but they are still somewhat loud. Kolibri rounds have no powder and are really quiet although they are considerably less powerful than these.
@PyroGeeks I agree, unsuppressed the subsonics and supersonics sound nearly the same. Through the right suppressor the subsonics sound more like an air rifle instead of a real firearm.
I bought some of these round along with winchester subsonics. I had 3 duds in the first 25 rds... And the accuracy wasn't as good as the winchesters either. give them a shot.
thats what hitmen use minus the hollow point..... nice and quiet with a silencer and when it goes through your skull it cant pierce through the other side and keeps richosheying thats not how you spell it buy yea
there is no such thing as a silencer, Its called a suppressor, everything isn't real in the movies and video games, they call them silencers but it's far from the truth
I know its a supressor but have you ever heard a ruger 10-22 supressed or a walther p22 supressed the click of the hammer is louder than the shot its self im not talking 9mm or 45. or 40. or even 556 im talking about a 22 long rifle with 38 grains rather than a 100 and up grains for pistol rounds or 55-75 for 556, if I got a walther p22 and put a supressor on it and went in my garage and shoot it you would have to have your ear right up to my garage door to hear it
These could easily take down a rabbit or squirrel. I don't have the equipment to take a sound sample and tell you the exact decibels of the report. Besides, it also depends on the gun you fire it from. Revolvers will be louder than autos because of the cylinder gap and handguns will be louder than rifles. If you want a really quiet round go with a Kolibri. They are powered by the primer only and are very quiet. They can take out a squirrel, but would be marginal for rabbits though.
squirrels are acually a bit tougher than a rabbit. Head shots are almost a must for 1 shot. Lungs would probably be 2 shots or more and with only 1 shot the squirrel would be crawling away. This happened to me, im not saying it will happen all the time.rabbits would be a lung or head shot and they would not go far.
They are not completely silent. It would be somewhere in between a firecracker and a loud pellet gun. There are much more quieter rounds called super colibri. They have no gunpowder and are fired by the force of the priming compound only. They sound like a pellet gun. If I wanted to be quiet thats what I would shoot. Google them and you will find sources.
gotta check with local laws. here, if your at least 100 yards away from a house and are shooting in a safe direction, you can. but then again, if you live just say a few hundred yards from other houses, you can probably shoot off your back porch. thats what we do. either our back porch or picnic table. and .22 rounds arent that loud. most are only about as loud as someone that can clap loudly.
Yeah they are not going fast enough to expand. Maybe if they were fired from a rifle. I may have to bring my rifle to the next test to see if it makes a difference.
I wouldnt rely on these expanding much even with a longer barel gun if you want expansion use cci stingers or remington yellow jackets both pretty high velocity
nice video dude, i was wondering what is a good test for this kinda round...not water though, a solid object...maybe some wood or the yellow pages?i wanna test out my .22LR rifle see how good it is with this same exact ammo...thanks!
You might try phone books or newspapers soaked in water overnight. We tested too many rounds to have that much wetpack, but it should be a better media if all you want to test is one type of ammo.
You can try this: Get 2 or 3 milk jugs, pick up all newspaper available and cut by hand in small pieces to go trough the open of the jugs, when you filled add water to the top, let them soak overnigh and this is a better way than just yellow books.
You can duck-tape around the 2 or 3 jugs already filled with paper an water to make a better pack.. This is as close as poor ballistic gel, hahahaha but it works pretty well and maybe you can recover the nose.! Give it a try.

Modify federal ammo by using a drill :D
pcblah 1 year ago
for better expansion take a screwdriver and jam it into the hollow piont to make the hollow point bigger
tractorman96 1 year ago
@tractorman96 That would likely work, but if I have to modify ammo before I shoot it to get proper expansion, then the manufacturer has failed IMO.
andreleger2001 1 year ago 6
I never purchase Remington .22 ammo anymore.
I've had problems with almost every brand they make.
Switched to CCI and haven't had one issue yet!

@Migs4000 u try the yellow jackets?

@skateboy159
I mean to say my .22 rifle HATES them.
Yellow Jackets I have tried and get lousy accuracy, fed ok though.
CCI Blazers work great.

wooow nice videos .but what .22 its the best for you?
dxxa94 1 year ago
@dxxa94 I would use CCI Stingers personally. They are accurate, fast and hit hard.
andreleger2001 1 year ago
@dxxa94 CCI quik-shok is a well performing 22 LR load. its basically a cci stinger but breaks up into 3 piece on impact.
GrizzlyGunsmith99 1 year ago
@dxxa94 if your looking for expansion go for the yellowjackets

Are you able to notice the difference in sound compared to a normal high velocity round?
