very well done, but you STILL need a little bit of staccato. But a staccato in baroque is different than classical, it's not a complete separation, but more of a shortening. This piece greatly benefits from it.
i liked your interpretation, sometimes you play stronger the left hand when you dont have the "them" but dont worry thats easy to fix, ignore the comments that say "very legato, play it more staccato" ignore them, bach is not staccato.
@resortesdelinfierno Are you kidding? I've never heard it played this legato. Yes, he is very good. I'm not that good, so I shouldn't be talking, and I'm not. I'm just saying that on my sheet music, all the groups of eighth notes are ALL staccato, and in this, ALL the notes in EVERY measure in BOTH hands were legato in some way.
erlinda: rather say detache' or detached, that is not stacatto. the fingers discreetly lift on those 8th notes, and no woodpecker attempts . just detach each finger in a natural way.
Bach is not STACCATO Lol, is PORTATO is just like the way hes doing it, the symbols that means STACCATO in bach means PORTATO read little more about the ways of play bach xD
Lol, you talk as if you actually think you know what your talking about. On the eigth note melody, he played it WAY too legato. I agree it should be portato, not stacatto, however, you obviously have a very bad ear for articulation if you thought that was portato. There was no space between the notes at all.
I like that you didn't go at breakneck speed but I still think there should have been staccato. Otherwise, this was very well done. Nice control of the piano.
If you're all done debating legato and staccato just remember this, Bach wrote this piece and all his inventions for harpsichord. Play it like a scientific essay. Don't play it at a breakneck tempo. I like this interpretation. If you want a definitive recording try Glenn Gould's from his collection of inventions.
the only thing i have to say is to remember that bach was german so every time you play the main theme, it must be maccato so more power. other than that, it was virtually flawless
Great!! I just think you should play it more staccato. Also, more contrast between the right hand and the left hand will make the piece sound more clear of who has the melody. :
I would have like to see more dynamics in this rendition. Otherwise, nicely done. AND I agree with some of the previous comments: this piece is very contrapuntal and it needs to be played lightly and with staccato in order for the two lines to be clear and concise. Good work though.
near the end you disconnected come of the notes you might want to find a way to connect them is you are going to connect the rest of the piece. and your rythym was outstanding.
It sounded right, well done. Just a tip try to seperate the legato vs staccato parts and the opposite. It really makes a difference in Bach besides its on of the important lessons of Bach that are in the inventions :)
Sounds interesting but i would deffinitly not play Bach extremely legato. Bach has to be EXTREMELY clear and i dont know if playing it legato with pedal would make it clear. then again i havent heard you play it this way so maybe you can pull it off
@aviyoung Which staccatos ? I've just downloaded the scores of this piece and there are NO staccato marks on the scores... Have you different scores with staccato marks ?
En lo tocante a Bach, si no tienes halagos, lo mejor será que te calles. De lo contrario, demostrarás tu ignorancia (de la misma manera que la has demostrado con este comentario).
The music of Bach is formidable, but gany look like an ignorant when speak of the "mechanical without any emotions" pieces of Bach. Exactly, the Baroque is unique for this.
I hope that you understand me (I speak a few english).
haha, sorry. What I meant is that I can't understand Spanish at all. I looked, but I couldn't understand a word, or what that video was about. ^^* sorry, can't help you there.

"Mechanical without any emotions" is the style of Bach. Maybe ganymed45 down there is more accustomed to Romantic Music.
Mioshmikan 5 years ago
Yup got that right, my piano teacher told me to think of it as a science. there isn't any emotion or interpretation of this music all mechanics
