@DeliriumImpulse I don't see this as Ul'dah at all. If I were to guess this is either Limsa Lominsa redone or A city that is not released yet. Lets hope because so far none of the starting cities hold a candle to anything from FFXI. I just didn't feel the magic like I did when I first entered Sandoria in any of the new ones.

The interview you've *seen* they probably said it won't be released on Xbox 360 at launch. It doesn't mean they won't ever release it.
FFXI was PC first then PS2 then later Xbox360. SE generally looks to release their products to as many platforms as possible. so don't count it out.

on their play online site you can see world status and you will find they have 32 worlds listen. Tell me smart one whats 500k divided by 32?
I'll tell you. it's 15,000. thats PER WORLD. That means it's around the same caliber at WoW's server populations just not as many servers.
That means 15,000 people are capable of playing at the same time in the same game world. I think that qualifies FFXI as a MMO.
Before you go there.. YES PS2 and PC versions were on the same world. they weren't spearate. PS2 users could play with PC users just if they were on a PC themselves.

Its these types of games that make me feel proud to have a PS3. The harsh world we live in today, where video game consoles battle it out day after day without succeding. Only staying at their positions. New games come out as exclusives, and make no change. Then games like FF XiV come out, i have never played a FF, but im enthusiastic about MMORPG. The 360 CAN run the engine with some tweaks, but honestly, Microsoft wants users to be required to have an Xbox LIVE subscription in order to get online (unlike XI, where all you had to pay was the $13 minimum a month to SE play online).
Basically, Microsoft isn't letting the fans on the 360 benefit because it wants a cut of the profit. I don't blame them though, they've lost millions from repairing red-ringers.

Anyone who has really played XI knows that the more systems this game is released for means more players filling up the worlds. This game will come out for the 360. There's no way around it. The two companies are intalks, so just let it go. Also, this game will have a monthly charge similar to what XI had. The servers need to be paid for and new content needs to be developed.
They had 5 years to have FFXIV ready for 360, in fact Rapture was said to released for 360 before PS3 was added. Thats why I think it will never be ported. PS3 is harder to program for so why wouldnt for 360.

Not true at all. SE and Microsoft are in talks right now for 14. Pretty much the only reason why its not announced right now is some rule Microsoft has with Xbox Live and cross system chat/play. FFXI didn't have this problem because of Play Online.
I think putting FFXIV on the 360 would severely hinder what they could add to it, just like the PS2 did for FFXI. Granted, FFXI was designed with the PS2 limits in mind but it fucked over so much later.

if you watch when it was announced, he clearly states "it will be a PS3 exclusive WHEN IT LAUNCHES IN 2010" that does not say it will not be ported to PC and/or 360 exactly like ffxi was. originally that was only going to be for PC.

Actually they never said it wasn't coming out on Xbox either. Development for the Xbox version of XI released years later, so that might be a possibility after PS3/PC versions are out. Considering the multi-plat design of Crystal Tools and how this tech demo was premiered at the Microsoft conference in 2005 (hence the teamxbox logo) using DirectX10/360 hardware - I wouldn't ever rule the Xbox version completely out someday.

The interview you've *seen* they probably said it won't be released on Xbox 360 at launch. It doesn't mean they won't ever release it.
FFXI was PC first then PS2 then later Xbox360. SE generally looks to release their products to as many platforms as possible. so don't count it out.
No "may have plans" isn't concrete but I have also never read or seen anywhere that they have stated that beyond a doubt will NEVER release it on 360 either.

This isn't true. It has been stated by SE themselves that FFXIV will launch on the PC and PS3 FIRST, they may have plans later to launch FFXIV on Xbox360 at a later time.

If a game exists on a server where you can log in at any time and it still be there, meaning its not instanced or hosted for a set time period and then closes with hundreds to thousands of players online at the same time. Then the game is an MMO.

MMO's havent really made a big splash into consoles yet because when PS2 and Xbox came out the integration of the internet into other area besides computers was relatively new.

@Vleesball the first one, Everquest was NOT on consoles. EQOA (everyquest online adventures) WAS on ps2 and did terrible. which is why it probably didn't make it to ps2 or ps3 when eq2 came out.

You cna google vanadiel census and find information on their playerbase such as how many play. If you look at this you'll find in 2007 SE announced they had 500k subscribers
on their play online site you can see world status and you will find they have 32 worlds listen. Tell me smart one whats 500k divided by 32?

I'll tell you. it's 15,000. thats PER WORLD. That means it's around the same caliber at WoW's server populations just not as many servers.
That means 15,000 people are capable of playing at the same time in the same game world. I think that qualifies FFXI as a MMO.
Before you go there.. YES PS2 and PC versions were on the same world. they weren't spearate. PS2 users could play with PC users just if they were on a PC themselves.

Its these types of games that make me feel proud to have a PS3. The harsh world we live in today, where video game consoles battle it out day after day without succeding. Only staying at their positions. New games come out as exclusives, and make no change. Then games like FF XiV come out, i have never played a FF, but im enthusiastic about MMORPG. I was considering buying a 360, but forget that, sticking with my PS3.

The 360 CAN run the engine with some tweaks, but honestly, Microsoft wants users to be required to have an Xbox LIVE subscription in order to get online (unlike XI, where all you had to pay was the $13 minimum a month to SE play online).
Basically, Microsoft isn't letting the fans on the 360 benefit because it wants a cut of the profit. I don't blame them though, they've lost millions from repairing red-ringers.

who cares what system it comes on, alot of that is what ruined 11, ppl would compete, i liked PC because i had better controls and macros, cept i would catch shit from 360, and ps2, but i can bet you it will come out for the 360, just give it time, its not all about how big the hard drive is so that you can run the game KHD93..., a whole lot deals with the play online server that SE uses, so if a 360 has atleast 12 gigs to store the games data, the 360 can easily run the game

You fanboys make me laugh. I have both systems, but will buy it for the PS3. Anyone who has really played XI knows that the more systems this game is released for means more players filling up the worlds. This game will come out for the 360. There's no way around it. The two companies are intalks, so just let it go. Also, this game will have a monthly charge similar to what XI had. The servers need to be paid for and new content needs to be developed.

Not true at all. SE and Microsoft are in talks right now for 14. Pretty much the only reason why its not announced right now is some rule Microsoft has with Xbox Live and cross system chat/play. FFXI didn't have this problem because of Play Online.

I think putting FFXIV on the 360 would severely hinder what they could add to it, just like the PS2 did for FFXI. Granted, FFXI was designed with the PS2 limits in mind but it fucked over so much later.

ffxi was built with the PS2 in mind, ffxiv is built with the PS3 in mind...eventually SE will release XIV onto the 360...but if they decide to port it know...it will only delay things and I don't want that...the game is ready for beta testing. After it launches on PS3/Windows then they can focus on making a port for 360. Knowing SE, it will happen. but then again...who cares. ...just get a PS3..price will drop soon....or upgrade your PC!

Actually they never said it wasn't coming out on Xbox either. Development for the Xbox version of XI released years later, so that might be a possibility after PS3/PC versions are out. Considering the multi-plat design of Crystal Tools and how this tech demo was premiered at the Microsoft conference in 2005 (hence the teamxbox logo) using DirectX10/360 hardware - I wouldn't ever rule the Xbox version completely out someday.
