Abraham might have been schizophrenic. Trust me, anyone who hears a voice telling them to kill, needs a psychiatrist and entry into a mental institution. Why don't we today revere those who get instructions from the spirit world to kill their children? because we know today much more about the world we live in than our ignorant and fearful forebears of ancient times. We know what causes lightning, that the thunder isn't the voice of a god, and that epileptics are not demon-possessed.
