  • Looks like shit. Looks like hes running through jello.

  • This is just a small step above Half-Life 2 water.

  • Cool that he gets wet but otherwise it looks fucking horrible. Like last gen water in games on Dreamcast and Playstation 2.

  • Uncharted's water effects are great, but Crysis and Ship Simulator Extreme have the best water effects.

  • @TargetRender Right so as you may but really I don't know why no interactivity in Crysis water... not even at surface level :(

  • @webclipper

Again dude, the point is to make realistic water. This looks unrealistic. Also Crysis water looks better even though it has no interactivity . FPS games dont need water interactivity because you dont see the players feet. Try throwing objects in to the water :)

  • @18T220 Wrong again dude, that was past-gen resolutions, we're opting 4 a physics driven present and future. Even Ninja-Gaiden water would be fine but if its not interactive, why the need of such high computing CPU-GPU-GPGPUs? Interacting must be there to call it a world, right?

Yeah, NPCs r also objects, fine, and Unchar1/2, Resis2(refraction too), KZ3, LittleBigPlanet1/2(special mention, all objects have reflections too) all behave fully to ammo, NPCs, environ-hazards etc. Awesome stuff :)

  • @webclipper

You just make up half of everything you say and change the subject.

Everybody else is saying Crysis, Crysis 2, Bioshock and Cryostasis have the best water in games apart from you. Do you think everybody is wrong apart from you?

Try throwing objects into the water on Uncharted 2 & Resis2, nothing would happen because everything is scripted.

  • @18T220 If u can't study, its nobody's fault. Clearly Ur 'everybody' is da average PC fanboy who only played the games on PC(all 4 r multiplat except Crysis1). Cry1, Bioshock and Cryostasis don't even have player interaction with water hah! neither Crysis2(w/out DX11).

Ur insist throwing obj in watr agin n agin shows how ur all coments r based on 1 feature u saw in Cry2DX11 haha(caught ya!) in 1/2 vids. How watr reacted is still lacking. Also everybody acknowledges Resis2 uperhand ;) ur new!

  • @webclipper

In Crysis 2 the water deformation reacts to how hard you throw and the shape of the object. It's not scriped like Uncharted 2 & Resis2.

Uncharted 2 & Resis2's water knows only the player and weapons will interact with the water so it makes it simple to script the interaction. In Crysis 2 everything from aliens, glass bottles, barrels, marines, dust bins, grenades, explosions interact with the water differently with realism rather than just bullets and the player.

  • @18T220 U mean in Cry2, da exact same, non-merging, tessellated surface only waves without dispersion react differently to different objects? Cry2 water only react in 1 direction n since its non dispersing, its all same.

And you've already seen Resis2 waves react to all players as well as when Chimaera aliens fall/thrown into it. It was in 2008, w/out DX hahaha:

    At 00:06, full water sim

    /watch?v=R1XWWtsCKjs&feature=related

Same wd Unchar2, lets find a vid ;)

  • @webclipper

Watched the video, you know the part with the monsters is scripted right.

Also Farcry from 2005 uses softbody cloth physics similar to Resis2's jelly.

Look the jelly has no reflections, no refraction, little transparency and you can't submerge under the jelly.

If you look close you can see the ripples dont refract off the tree stumps. :) nice

  • @18T220 Ur stuck here, scripted monsters? da ones u can shoot from any direction n de falling 2 any side? no child water is fully dynamic, any side u shoot responds accurately(2008, w/out DX11 haha)

Nu vid, same place, same monsters killed by troops wd nu position, full response 2 NPCs n monsters. Submerging + excellent Refraction at 1:08. U know u can swim in Resis2? and resis2 has variety, clean/jungle/muddy all types of water, unlike Crysis singular sh!t:

    /watch?v=j9n34B8hrmg

    Keep failing!

  • @webclipper

Looked at that video link, there is no refractions, look at the tree stumps, look at the monsters.

Also I cant see the player submerging in the water because you cant.

If I want jelly water i'll play Resis2 and If I want realistic water i'll play one of my PC games.

Also the jelly isn't fully dynamic because there is no refraction of the trees or the short line.

  • @webclipper

Also you just contradicted yourself. :)

Quote ''If u can't study, its nobody's fault. Clearly Ur 'everybody' is da average PC fanboy who only played the games on PC''

Quote ''Also everybody acknowledges Resis2 uperhand''

Resis2 just uses cloth style softbody physics on a larger scale for its water. Crysis has softbody cloth but It would seem retarded to use that insted of the current realistic 'looking' water.

  • @18T220 Alright, wow, now dat was retarted hehehe, ur losing it again... somebody is being jumping da platforms again n again... where have u seen cloth producing dispersional waves and ripples? Cloth algorithms for water... haha, that is the new lvl for fanboyism.

Again, I guess since 'I' mentioned it, u went on n found da only cloth implementation vid in a Crysis mod on youtube(tent)... right? U never had a clue before dat Crysis have cloth or not... and it doesn't. Only 1 lost mod ;)

  • @webclipper

No If you use Crysis editor there is a curtain rail with cloth without mods that uses Soft body physics similar to the water in Resis2.

The tech was there for Crytek to use on water but the masters of graphics didn't use it. They went for water insted of jelly basically. lol

Not got anything to say about you're contradictory comment? lol

  • No joke when I first got Uncharted I spent hours just rolling around in the water LOL.

  • The water efects is the best ihave seen in my life.

  • water effect is more realistic in Ratchet and Clank. But, the snow effect in Uncharted is more realistic that Ratchet and Clank

  • more like JELLO

  • @chingvang559 Really? That's just dumb...

  • it's a stupid shader effect water...only geometric water count for me like real water. Shader effect water is ridiculous!!!!

  • Lol, are you serious Kotaku? THIS is the fucking 5th best water this Gen?

  • True that. Easily in the top three.
