  • did you use a subsurface shader for the skin?

  • Wiggles? BAD-Ass. ;)

  • omg amazing

  • excellent work sir

  • awesome video!

If you guys want to see Autodesk Maya tutorials check out my channel! I'll also be posting advanced tutorials soon!

    -character modeling

    -architectural modeling

    -and advanced rendering

    to name a few

  • soulblighter looks amazing

  • Great work mann!

  • holy grape man your amazing

  • The anatomy on the punk is awesome. I love that hunched shoulder

  • Yeah, Shiver rocks :D

  • Make a better render in HD ON YOUTUBE nobody wants to download your halfass shit, waste of computer space.

  • If Borderlands had more realistic looking characters, this would have been a perfect enemy model :D. Really great job, I hope you have a career in this ;).

  • Amazing figure anatomy. Hows the job hunt going?

  • can you import models from zbrush to an animation program like 3ds max?

  • just like i thought, zbrush. the cloth, is it from cinema 4D?

  • @GiveMeUrCookies Nope, that is also zbrush.

  • @Fess1001 didnt know that you could add pysics in zbrush, well i havent used it for a long time and i usally just model and add the rest on cinema 4D and maybe use unitiy for coding at the end.

  • @GiveMeUrCookies It's not physics. The folds, as well as all anatomy and other high res detail, were sculpted in Zbrush.

  • @Fess1001 hum hum i really need to check out some zbrush tutorials.

  • @Fess1001 although you CAN add some physics in zbrush, stuff like wind, and gravity, and magnetism, at least in zbrush4

  • It's Maynard James Keenan!

  • Man your work is amazing ! really inspiring. ive only been modeling for about a year now. feels like im long long way from being at your level :(

  • It looks so real!!!! AAAGGH!!! That is so amazing!!! ^.^

  • wicked!

  • awesome work. ;)

  • VERY IMPRESSIVE! KEEP GOING PAL

  • I just started to get into 3d programs. Your works are very inspiring. Keep up the great work.

I tried installing Maya on my computer but it didn't work -.- But 3ds max works, is there a big difference between the programs?

  • @zombieiscool Not really. Especially if you're just starting out.

  • @zombieiscool but maya has much harsher system requirements, im just starting out too and i agree, fess 1001 your work is awesome.

  • I'm an artist and I want to learn 3D. How long does is take to get to this level? And is it possible to learn on your own, thru online tutorials and books? Any help would be great, before I commit to this. Thanks!

  • @puluking1579 When I finished this demo reel, I had been doing 3d/art for three and a half years (including 1 year at Vanarts). I ve also been somewhat artistically inclined all my life, which helps. Depending on how good you are traditionally and how quick/dedicated you are, it could be anywhere between 6 months to 2-3 years.

  • @Fess1001

Thanks for your help!! I actually downloaded the free trial for maya, I'm gonna see how that goes. I actually graduated from Calarts, but never got into the whole 3D thing. I think I was intimidated by the interface. I took one semester, and the teacher was terrible. I don't want to go back to school to learn it, it just cost to much. Maybe I'll keep you posted on my progress and maybe I can get a demo reel up one day, haha. Thanks again and keep up the awesome work!

  • @puluking1579 (Cont)Learning on your own is fine when it comes to software, but imo it's best to learn stuff like anatomy by going to figure drawing workshops and other anatomy related classes if you're able. If you are on a fast track to get started - get the latest "Zbrush: Digital sculpting Human Anatomy" book by Scott Spencer, it's pretty good. I d still compliment that with schooling/other art books if you can afford/have time.

P.s. Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciated! :)

  • God Bless You And Thank You For This Video. Really Inspiring.

  • pantera? :D

  • WOW !!

  • Ultimate!

  • is it real human?

    Great WORK !

  • one word : legendary!

Although the stance of the first model (Punk) looks kind weird they were all awesome!GOOD JOB

  • good lord!......this one is sooo cool!!

  • Really impressive :|

  • omg amazing! <3<3<3

  • while answering consider that i want to make my carrer in gaming industries

  • you know figure drawing and you make sculpture as well great is there anything that you dont know. I went through your blog and your models are as usal great.

is it necessary to know how make sculpture and figure drawing.i really suck atfigure drawing a 10 year old kid can draw better than me and i don't have any idea how to make a real sculpture

  • @rahulcamma Thanks. If you want to work as an artist you d be better of going to an art school where they teach all the art fundamentals. All the traditional stuff I ve learnt at the art school. If you just want to work in games you could learn how to build and texture props in 3d, or how to rig. Those don't require much in terms of traditional art and are in higher demand.

  • Dont kick yourself in the ass too much. I'd say your at a good start not knowing jack because learning how to draw is very structured. You're better off not being a stubborn artist not willing to learn the fundamentals because you already "know". Treat art like a science with respect. Its not just the skill in your hand. Like anything it takes practice and determination. Draw everyday! Start by downloading how to Draw books by Andrew Loomis for free, pdfs. Take it in doses, do the exercises.

  • Thanks for the reply . If possible post your latest demo reel

  • @rahulcamma I m still working on it. You could check out the latest at my blog and I ve also posted a link to some of my latest character/creature turnarounds into my profile.

  • your demo reel is amazing great work.i was just wondering when u model a charcter how ur egde loops should flow i mean like they should be equally disributed or they should have nice flow??????

  • @rahulcamma Thanks. It would depend on what the model is meant to be used for, but I 'd say for zbrush base meshes you'd want both. Do a search on cgtalk on the subject, lots has been posted there.

  • Wow amazing...How long did you spend on each one of them? lol

  • dear god these are so god u can sue them for a ps3 game holy sh it!

  • Looks kinda like WarHammer pieces with the base, but more realistic.

    5/5

  • i wish to ask something.. u use maya right??.. i use maya too.. have you noticed that maya split poligon tool sometimes bugs.. i mean it cuts the poligon.. but when u hit enter it doent made any change.. please respond. Thanks

  • I only notice that happens when you try to cut straight to the opposite side of the object. Cutting in smaller steps resolves that problem, for me at least.

  • i think i know thats provoking the problem.... BORDER EDGES.. i forgot to turn their visibilitiy on :) ..its impossible to cut them. ty anyway

  • very great, wish I could do better organic modeling

  • that's perfect man it really is.

  • great work dear ....

  • great work

  • what program do you use? this stuff amazes me and intimidates me. i want to learn. great stuff

  • That was sick! your models are awesome... the only problem I had is with the camera on the last model( the zooming in and out) but everything was niiiiice!

  • Yeah, that's something that a lot of people seemed not to like. I ve taken a note of it ! :D

Btw, thanks for all the comments!

  • that sounds like fucking music lol

  • Perfect!

  • thats BA

  • Wow... Me impresiono tu trabajo, felicitaciones

  • good works you did in Maya or 3dsmax can you tell me how to take a wire frame render in Maya

  • Lol ,! REAL HUMAN BEINGs..!

    GREAT WORK ..!!

  • just awsome dude

  • what program is this... awsome dude

  • it doesnt matter what programm this is the programm wont do jack for you :)

  • SOULBLIGHTER!!!

Oh my god, I never thought I'd see a model of him!

  • wow ! beautiful

  • Xtreme!! hella nice bro

  • fresh!

  • Good work man, I hope you get hired at a good company for this :).

VanArts eh?? I will look into this, I am a bit of a modeler myself (even though I am lacking techniques in some areas :)).

  • so u r doing this while u r a student? wow impresive!

  • Well done

  • Very impressive, your model are unique and seems very clean!!! I'm still a student in 3Darts, but your demo is amazing!

  • lovely

  • It was crazy how good the first one was. The others felt kind of dead but still very impressive.

  • nice really good work man wooow

    i like it very much

    great models ;)

  • why are your texture so clean?

A suggestion is to dirty it up.

  • holly fuck its amazing

  • sick job with the coloring of ur characters and amazing job with the hair of the first model

  • amazing......

i wish i could do this

  • damn I hate you, I just started 3d modeling and you make me jealous. How did you get the models to translate from textured to clay to wireframed while the camera is still rotating?

  • Comment removed

  • Молодец, Александр!

  • My only criticism is the camera work on the final piece. It has that 'roller coaster' feel that many people like to put into their reels. You were doing really well with the other models. Maybe it's just a personal preference, but it really shouldn't feel cinematic. You are just showing off your badass modeling skills. If there are any slow-ins and outs, or other strange camera movements, it becomes rather distracting. I shouldn't be aware of the camera.

  • you're modeling is pretty good, but your texturing needs some work. For realistic skin, you have to build layers of color to get that depth and translucent quality. Also, your hard body textures are too clean and neat, they need to be grunged and show wear.

  • Really nice nice work man. You've got the potential to make it big!!! Are there any tips you can give me? I'm just starting out with ZBrush but my focus is on After Effects and Nuke. Also i'm new to the industry. Any professional insight you could give one artist to another? I have an undergraduate in animation; check out my page tell me what you you think.

  • Are you going to be making Game Model Characters? Coz i reckon they could easily accept you.

  • i have 2 questions:

    1. in which program is this designed? maya?

    2. whats the "grey-status" called at 1:30?

  • Love it. This is awesome. Its what i want to do by the time I leave university but i have no idea what i can do to get myself to that point.

Do you know any tutorials or guides that can help? i've managed making a marketplace with basic shapes and textures as well as making planet earth but i really want to get into character/vehicle modelling.

    Any suggestions?

  • Just beautifull...just...wow

  • Awesome work - may I ask what the tune is though?

  • Thank you! The music is dj shadow's "fixed income"

  • This is too cool

    I respect you

  • Hey Man. Nice works. Quick question, how long did these models take you?

  • They took about 6 months I think (including rendering and post). Drahl girl took the longest to make and render - maybe 2-3 months. Wiggles next to her was done in less than a week (model was done in 2 days). The other two characters took less time to make, but I was coming back over and over to improve on them. I think the first pass (which was game-res models with normal maps) was about a month on soulblighter and then 2 weeks on the punk.

  • What renderer/material did you use to get that realistic skin look on the 'punk' ? Vray?

  • I used mental ray with its subsurface scattering sss shader.

  • Ok thanks, I'd love to know what material render settings if you have time to check for a talentless chump like me :)

  • For some reason posting a link in the reply doesn't work, so I posted it on the bulletin board in my channel. Hope it helps!

  • Thanks a lot that's majorly appreciated. I see you're a maya user, they certainly set out their shader networks better. I owe you one!

  • nice stuff dude

  • HOLY CRAP BEST SOULBLIGHTER MODEL EVER! Seriously, that took me by surprise.

  • Excellent Work, man. Killer renders too. Sweet.

  • ur modeling skill are bad ass and that song is badass too.

  • I now wh you are I've seen your stuff on cgtalk !!

  • did you do the texturing as well? and did you model them in the stance you show them in or did you model them in crucifix position rig them and adjust there position?

  • Yeah , I textured them too. The characters were modelled in default stances (but not crucifix ones) - second and third ones were rigged and posed in maya. "Punk" was posed partly in maya, partly in zbrush. The blue robot wasn't rigged at all, I just rotated it's limbs into position.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I m glad you liked it!

  • Man I totally Impressed..That was some wonderful modelling.!

  • Man, you must be running some SICK computer to handle models of this quality, insane awesome work. Hopefuly some day I will be producing Models of this caliber.

  • That was pretty freaking Awesome man!

  • Wow! That's very impressive!

  • That was totally awesome! I'm impressed man!

  • The drahl infantry one was my fav, loved the detail and realistic reflections
