You know what I do? Eat anything and everything in sight... tuna.. ice cream.. cereal with lots of milk... ramen... fruit smoothies.. burritos.. tv freakin dinners..
you can do better than an apple dude, talk about real nutrition. apples have high amounts of sugar, not just carbs. post-workout, you want simple carbs, not sugar, so you want something like waxy maize mixed with a low-carb protein shake, not an apple lol
@justinhardt1 the idea is to have pre-digested protein available asap post-workout, so if you're consuming chicken, it'll take much longer to digest. there's a period of about 45 minutes after weightlifting where your body can most efficiently use protein, so consuming chicken wouldn't be the best first option. a shake solves the problem. waxy maize is particularly good after weights because it shuttles protein twice as fast as glucose into your cells to repair and build muscle. it's a science.
@MrBenIPresume I drink a lot of milk, with protein throughout the way. Big breakfast, so that I have constant food throughout my body, even when I workout. I spend my money on lots of food, instead of shakes and things. About a gallon of milk a day or two every 3 days.. any meat I can.. I burn through it so fast that I have to down anything and everything to gain weight. If you want to get lean, or lose weight though.. I'd say shakes are the way to go.. but for me, I want real food.
banana is the OK post workout fruit, also potasium is good for not getting sore... here is the thing, you dont want get carbs from sugar, i rather to buy pure carb powder and whey protein, make my own recovery drink,... 2 carbs 1 protein..

@MrBenIPresume You do realize that sugar IS a simple carb, right?
justinhardt1 9 months ago
@justinhardt1 a simple carb isn't always sugar though. i already gave one example of a non-sugar simple carb. learn to read

@MrBenIPresume Learn to read? Someones a bit sensitive. Why would you even use shakes and mixes? Waste of money, in my opinion.
