My dad had a 78 of "for you my love" and "Lost my baby " That i still have by the to time i was 13 in 1983 these was some of my favorite songs right next to Grandmaster Flash and the furious Five his music is time less
Unbelievable! My moms NAMED ME after this guy, and I never, ever heard him until THIS MOMENT! My middle name is DARNELL. My mom is long gone (1991). She woulda FLIPPED over this thing called da internet! Thanks for posting. Let me go listen to these other tunes from my namesake. RACE RECORDS is what these were called at the time. Blacks were not yet allowed to record on white lables. I was born 12-23-60. Wow!
It's amazing to me that he really only had pretty much one year of chart success, then nothing at all afterwards. First time I've ever seen any kind of footage on him, and this really swings!
A musical compilation assembled from Snader and Studio
Telescriptions (soundies) for release to theaters in the 50's as "Rock 'n' Roll Revue". An audience and emcee have been added to create the illusion of a cohesive stageshow.
Np, you mean I'm not the only one named after him. January 31, 1960
