The fact that a college would invite a paper to be written by a student about a movie as part of its curricula shows just what a waste of $35,000-$80,000 tuiton per year most colleges and universities are. And how gullible people to enroll in them. Try a 2-year college first, don't major in gender studies or jigsaw puzzles or comic books or diversity, get a real education to get a real job. Most universities are just cesspools of leftwing indoctrination anyway.
Janice Kawaye (who did Sarah, the young rescued girl in the movie) later went to voice acting. And also voices a certain famous character. Can one of you guess who it is?
Isn't that game she's playing, the same one from the scary movie where the video game characters (one of them being a giant head) break out of the machine and trap the guy who got to the last level? Nightmares I think it was called?
I know of Catherine Mary Stewart from The Last Starfighter which I loved to watch in the late 80's, but for some reason I never knew of this movie till last year - and still I have not watched it. I'm gonna now and hook up the laptop to the projector and watch this like at the cinema.
That first scene with Catherine Mary Stewart (who I love still!) so reminds me of my local grocery store when I was a kid--it had Tempest and I would hang out playing at that old stand up machine while my mom went shopping. This was such a fun movie and I'm looking forward to watching it all the way through again! My dad's VHS copy finally wore out many years ago. Thanks for the upload, haven't seen this in years!
Not terrible, but certainly "done on the cheap." The Nordstrom scene set to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was a bad idea. This, for those too young to remember, was the type of flick to pop-up on USA's Up All Night with Rhonda Shear or Gilbert Gottfried in the late 80s-early 90s.
Starting July 1 2011 this will be on Netflix Instant stream. Everybody who has it, stream it to pop it up on Netflix's radar so they know to get more great retro 80s movies online (as well as cartoons). Lot of good 80s cartoons on Netflix instatnt stream now. Great for your youngins to stream for.
This is an 80's pop-corn coated classic! Also check out Prom Night 2 Hello Mary Lou, a kind of Carrie late 80's Prom Queen revenge flick...outrageously cheesy.
The original Stepfather is fun, and the best WORST 80's film goes to BODY ROCK!!! This has to be seen to be believed. I purchased about 10 copies (they were going for $2.oo each): perfect Christmas/Birthday presents for friends and family! Be warned: they may never speak to you again. Thanks for uploading this! I'm in heaven.
This Movie is a classic of the 80's anytime it's on tv which is rare I watch I Love it would love to have the dvd Catherine Mary Stewart was the it girl then and she really has aged quite well she looks the same seen her in two movies within past year
This is one of my favorite movies..I love the 80s. this was made in 84 the year I was born. I first saw this movie at 13yrs old recorded it on my v c r and would watch it over and over.
Ya know its funny....in this movie shes obsessed with being the best in a video game...and in her next movie her boyfriend was too....The Last Starfighter!
@mintychutney the book captures a more in depth character study. regina doesn't just play a video game, she escapes into an alternate reality, which just conditions her to immediately accept the fate of the world upon her realizing the "real" reality. it is all in the book. i hope they don't quiz you on this as such nuances are missed in the movie, overshadowed by the pop culture that made this country great: sex, drugs, violence, and rock-n-roll.
"Have you ever been hit my Dots, Mel? Milkduds? Those things hurt" My friend and I would always quote that to someone at anytime , it became an inside joke for a long time 'cause no one has ever heard of this movie! @pyrogyra72 That WAS the decade, wasn't it? Before all the crap; the Internet (what it's become) terrorists lurking behind every bush and corner; AIDS, global warming (at least it was only a RUMOUR then...haha).....*sigh* it was such an sexy but innocent time.....I miss it too!
oh my goodness....i could handle werewolves and vampires......but when it comes zombies or these little creepies uuuuuggggg nooooo so if the zombie apocalypse or the slug....worm...creepies apocalypse ever happens.....please dont rely on me for help....i mean come on a werewolf bites you become strong and powerful and its the same with vamps....but either way with zombies or these creepies your screwed.....but this movie is worth it completely.....screaming like banshee aggggggglggggggg
@fjbutch shame on you, that you haven't heard of Night of the Comet.

@dwo2A790 After watching the 2 hour special and the one hour series of " Life After People ", a remake will surely have a much different outcome in the script.
