Hi Sophie hope you don't mind me saying you are so beautiful you had my 100% attention! Thanks to SimplyElectronics for giving you this job hope you come back:) I subscribe
@yujianzhi the Zoom range will be 100-300mm due to the crop factor. I just ordered one of these babies along with a 50mm /f1.4 prime and a Nikon D7000 today.. I will replace the D7000 with the new D800 when it hits the market some time in the future...
Hey, which lens would recommend for an FX camera like the D700? 24-70mm or 70-200mm VR II? Probably the question sounds a bit stupid since these lenses are for different purposes, but if you were to buy only one of those, which one would be your pick? thanks.
@SimplyElectronics Well, OK, then what would you recommend to someone who is not sure about which one to pick first? I am looking for a lens that is high quality, super sharp, that can do very well from portrait to landscape, wedding photography, etc...the lens I am looking for is not for one for particular purpose. thanks.
@111ImNumber1 If you are looking for the ability to take the photos you have mentioned you may want to start with the 24-70mm as it provides a wider range of shooting subjects. However, if you are looking to take more close-up type photos then you should consider the 70-200mm VR II. Hope this helps thanks for your question!
@SimplyElectronics I try and cut down, But i recommend having the "trinity". A good wide angle zoom (17-35), a good mid range lens, fixed focal distance. Like the 50mm 1.4 and a good tele zoom (70-200 vr ii)
when i touth the shuter relese buton while the VR is on, I can actualy here the VR working . I can her the VRmotor turns onand off. I'musing this lense for aboute two weks and i both it new. Should i sebd it back tothe store or to the service?
I have a DX Nikon (D40 and D3000). Is it worth buying this lens ? I want to buy this lens after the summer and next year I will buy the D700 (or the follow-up). So would that be worth it ?
Depends if you're willing to pay that much, for long distance shots you actually need. Remember that for DX, it will actually be 105-300mm... which can be a very powerful focal length, if you know how to use it.
I think a better deal would be the 18-200, because it has a more realistic focal length which replaces both a wide angle and telephoto lens.
We're soon to get our hands on the new Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS mark II, so we'll shortly know which is better at what!
With the current/old generation Canon 2.8L IS there is honestly no comparison between that and the new Nikon! We were actually quite amazed at how far the new one has pushed the envelope. I'm sure it'll be a much closer contest with the new Canon model :)
Good Review, I would have like to have seen some examples or some some sample pictures that were taken with this lens. Does it have great Bokeeh and is it super sharp? Thanks.
It's so sharp wide open it feels pointless to drop down (unless you need the depth of field). Bokeh is also smoother than on the previous model - which was already decent!
The only downside is the weight, but you can't really get around that when buying a professional 70-200mm 2.8 lens.
As for a review of the review:
It would help if you spoke up a bit more and had less background music. Watching this on my iPhone was a bit difficult to understand. Other than that it was great, and I can't wait to get my hands on that lens!
She was disappointed when she heard that there was vibration reduction..."Thumbs up" if you got it.
