@cmonty72 i know... i saw em right at the end of this funky phase- BSSM tour 1992. after that they lost it. all the kids listening to em now, probably only reckon they've made 3 albums!!! they came to town a month ago, and i'm glad i gave it a miss... wouldnt have known any songs!
@baldassaredegenes its been more than 20 years since this, do you really expect them to keep playing that style now that theyre all coming up on 50? most peoples music interests change over time...
This got me into and very repidly out of the RHCP, years later I had to put up with the "under the bridge" crowd, same shit with Nirvana a few years later
If I would have one magical wish to pick one scene from any movie ever made and to be able to get inside, for sure it would be this scene. I know that other people have diferent taste, but for me this is the best there is. I really love original RHCP and especially this song. Hilel, we miss u!
During the whole 90's and 00's I was convinced I saw the name Red Hot Chili Peppers somewhere in an obscure 80's teenager skate movie before the huge Under The Bridge hit. I couldn't remember the name of that movie and wasn't realy sur it wasn't all in my mind...
I can remember listening to a RHCP song (don't remember which one) on the radio back in '83, or '84, and the DJ remarked how they were a "flash in the pan", and wouldn't last. I disagreed.
I actually saw them live around this time in SF, and they were hot shit. Flea got me playing the bass. The drummer of this period and Hillel Slovak made this band much better than they ever were since.
They were the template of the punk-funk band, and then they opened up the garbage can and ballads and shit flew out.
RIP Hillel. His loss was the end of this band's creative spirit. They were a real alternative band, when alt meant not Michael Jackson and Madonna. Legends? nope, sorry.
Agreed. this band is a phunky master.RHCP is the 90' s best band of this kind. Unbelieveble many bands with the PIXIES n NIRVANA style emerged but no one like them. May be Urban Dance Squad? Here in Italy we adore a half french, half latin band called SWAVE. Seek their song "In the Future" is awesome too
When I was 7 and 8 years old, I came home and watched this movie ever day. At the time I didnt know who this band, but it was one of my favorite scenes.
i was just watching old chili peppers live on youtube and you can really tell by reading the comments who knows when these guys were the shit and who doesn't
Great song,and movie too
