Question to you LOTRO players? Since it costs about 1 gold to buy a house, and 50 silver for upkeep, how long does it take to get that amount? Is it as easy as WoW? Can you get that much at early levels and afford the upkeep? Or is 1 gold the affordable price of the rich?

You got to take in account that 1 gold = 1000 silver in LOTRO, so it'll take longer anyways to get that. I can't really think of anything to compare it with in WoW, but I couldn't afford a Deluxe House (7 gold) until I was level 49. A mount costs 4 gold, and I had that with luck around level 36-37. A standard house is 1 gold so you should be able to afford that pretty early.

@brokenURL 1g to buy a normal house doesn't take too long, maybe until about level 20-25. 50 silver is nothing -- 15-20mins killing mobs and selling the drops.

I'm not trying to piss in anyone's wheaties but in it's current state LOTRO has the worst player housing on the modern MMO scene. Predefined item anchors, bland textures and terrible overall implementation of the "neighborhood" concept. EQII does housing well. From what I hear SWG did housing well.. Hell even Vanguard does it better. LOTRO housing is highly disappointing if you've experienced any of them.

Well, you can invite a player that you want be able to come into the house and change stuff, so if you'd write in ur alt name and give it full prior yeah i guess it would.

You choose when you pay, but you have to pay each week. So you can pay in advance for say a month, but if you don't keep your payments on your house up to date then it gets locked up until you pay the upkeep.

You can buy one house per account, any of the 4 different styles, which includes Men, Elf, Hobbit and Dwarfs. They are all racially themed.

Your guild (Kingship) can purchase a Castle type house to fit all of ur members.

These houses are located all over the world, is an instance you zone into.

The one thing I haven't seen yet is how exactly the houses work. I mean, can more than one person buy the same house, but it's instanced, (or neigborhoods for this matter) or is it first come, first serve and once all the houses are bought, you have to wait for someone to sell the house?
