What do you do if you want to buy a lot of groceries at once...do you have to push around 3 or 4 of those small carts?? Surely that's bad for business from the store's point of view (encouraging you to buy less) Oo
awesome video! I'm sure lots of those retails stores have strict rules, besides videotaping, you're not allowed to use power outlet at any cafe for example. It could be a little too much sometime, but I hope you guys are having fun during your stay, and it's good to see stuff from my home country!
i wouldn't say ALL american's are bad mannered. Its just over here our manners are different. Its not rude or bad just different I'm not speaking for all american's though.
Thank you for your video. It was quite entertaining! Please continue to make more so "bad-mannered" americans know how to act in Japan. I may visit one day.
Awesome video guys! You seem like you really like Japan and aren't taking advantage or being typical foreigners. Glad to see you setting a good example!
What happened when u got busted? Did a guard approach ruunning & screaming or did he / she sneak up and grab you and took you out =P Good thing you have you kamera with and they did not take it ^^
I love Japanese people, Asians in general. They got a lot of discipline regarding lifestyle. We need to learn from those people in the U.S. We over indulge ourselves with stuff, losing the values we were originally taught like humility for one thing.
Aww! *disappointed* I thought you guys did something real badass to get kicked out. So you're not suppose to film a store? Haha! I did that before using my cell phone.
Awesome. I went to Osaka and filmed in a store and they had no problem, we were picking up cans and bottles, etc., having a laugh with the store security guard, he had no objection to me filming inside the bathroom upstairs which was apparently for employees only. Musical toilet/water fountain and everything.
@chibomato78 Tax is 5 yen for every 100 yen in Japan for the entire country. It's included in the price, which makes things very easy. If you look at 1:24 you'll see 248円 (税込) 248 Yen (Zeikomi). Zeikomi means tax included.
I wish we could work out something like that in the U.S.!
They also used to have flat prices like 250 or 500, but recently are doing the lame 248, 499 garbage like here.
sorry you guys got kicked out but thanks for sharing. there is such a difference in culture, i am using this video in my presentation for grad-school thanks guys.
I would be afraid to go to Japan. All I have heard about it is how much they hate foreigners over there and that they (especially some people called the Yakuza) want all non Japanese to leave :-(
@starguard I don't believe that to be accurate. I think just like anywhere else the stereotypes are exaggerated. I obviously cant speak for all Japanese but I have had nothing but good experiences :)
@starguard lol, are you serious?...as someone who has been to Tokyo myself, I would have to say that it's quite the opposite. They don't hate foreigners, in fact, I don't think they act any differently to foreigners at all. If they do, they are actually more nice. The Yakuza are the mafia...and I'm pretty sure you won't ever see much of them unless you are involved in drugs/illegal activities.
@starguard Recently foreigners are bringing the negative aspects of foreign countries to Japan, like "recreational" drug use, gun trafficking, and even bad manners! So there is a degree of backlash. But generally all the younger generations worship westerners.
I noticed last time I was there they were a lot less friendly, or more cautious.
I think foreigners need to understand Japan is not a playground, and all the Anime they watch is FAKE. Japan is not a cartoon.
I thought filming without permission in a store in general isn't allowed? Especially if you're using a real, proper video camera. Cellphones would have been easier to get away with but the quality would suck. Thanks for the effort! It's really great fun watching you guys.
@leprasia lol sorry i didnt read them before i comented so i kinda said the same thing about the phone just thought id let you know i didnt mean to coppy you...can you tell me how to take mine off i dont want to offend
@leprasia Today's cameras in cell phones can record in full HD resolution, some of the phones even have pretty decent image stabilization. Good enough for a Youtube video. ;-)
Japanese people are so lucky that they never have to experience the horrors of cleaning up after messy people in retail stores in America.
Stores in Japan are always so clean. I'd imagine it's because the people are very courteous of those who work in retail. I wish more Americans did the same.
@soni4126 Me too! I work in retail and some people here can be terribly rude. :P
I once saw a lady whose baby spit up all over the floor, then asked if someone else could clean it up. eww (that one's really not bad at all though lol) ^.^ But many people mess things up carelessly.
(customers here would need like 50 of those baskets because some people often have a full cart or more! lol)
@KryztalKitsu lol :) It looks like we have something in common here. I'm right with you when you say that people mess things up carelessly. I work at Target, and sometimes we have to stay until 11:00p.m. (sometimes midnight in the holiday season) just cleaning up the store. It gets pretty ugly sometimes, but nowhere near as bad as places like Walmart... Ugh.
@soni4126 hehe I work at Meijer. ;) We all try hard to keep the store clean- much cleaner than Walmart! lol XD
I've cleaned and have done trash and some icky stuff ect..., but to tell the truth, I don't have to do the nasty-nasty cleaning because I'm a cashier-but I know it can get gruesome. :P But I sure am thankful for them keeping our store clean. ^_^
@soni4126 american will never same, because they are very racism. you can't say one word or they will sue you as discrimination. and gangsters will come and ruin it.
@Cougman1978 America is divided. Where I live to 'sue' someone or having a 'lawsuit' against them is only for extreme cases. (assault, battery, theft, obvious harassment.)
There are bad parts of America, but there are bad parts of every country. Try to see the good everywhere you go. No where is perfect. Japan isn't either. (I'd love to live there, but lets be real.) Japan however has 1 thing that I love, Japanese women America does not. Guess which country I would most likely enjoy more?
