There's a lot of incorrect info about this band. It's what's called a track band. Owned by Perfect World Entertainment. PWE has at least 20 cover track bands. More than one Spazmatic band. Thats how they cover different areas of the country. Musicians are great musicians and put on a hell of a show. I love watching them but as a musician I am always aware of all the extra tracks that they are playing along with. Keyboards, backing vocals, percussion etc. Bigger sound. Fewer to pay. Entertaining!
Believe me the guitarist is not faking. He is superb. I once heard him play Paganini on the guitar, I know, I'm his mom. If it can be played, he can play it.
These guys get paid $7,500.00 per show??? 8.0 Fort Worth makes about 40k on a night when their in town. Not my cup of tea....nowadays you got to have a schtick it seems
Yes, they are enjoyable to watch and do pack it in bringing in revenue for Cedar Street so other bands can play as well.
However, if we could agree on what is considered 'good' (which is relative), then we could more accurately provide our opinion on them.
One can be good based on the money they bring in, the way they play their instruments (or, bad, if they don't), how much they entertain the crowd, the singing (or, bad, if they are not singing). What does everyone think?
They're fine, except for the fact that the guitar players are faking it, & the keyboards and backing vocals are pre-recorded. Other than that, a crack band....
Seriously, an 80s cover band without a keyboardist?!?
I know a lot of there stuff is prerecorded vocals and stuff especially Journey's - Don't Stop Believing, But they still have a great crowd going and crack everybody up and everyones having a good time.
There was a huge crowd there and everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves. Good for them! But it's weird to see the guitar player acting like he's playing the fiddle part to Come On Eileen on the guitar.
You are partially correct.......but the techo part of the show is supposed to be like that....read the history of how and why the band was created.....This is a franchise band just like the Blue Man Group....they have different versions all over the country.
awe! you sound a little jealous..,, they do pack the place more than any other band...and they are fun to watch. I've seen a few other bands there too, don't remember the names, probably cuz they sucked....
there is actually a really good band in austin called radiostar. they are an 80's cover band, and they play cedar street nearly every saturday. and sherlocks on wednesdays.
I was there for business in Sept. and caught these guys. I was a bit skeptical but my friend who lives there was like "you've gotta check it out". We also had several people say it's something you have got to see. I love live music and not a huge fan of covers but this was absolutely awesome. They are a riot and the crowd is so into the show it would be hard not to have a great time.
I was in Austin last night and saw these guys at Cedar Street...and they are fucken awesome! This video does not do the justice on how bad ass they really are. I was in Austin for business but next time I am there, I will definetly try to make it out to see these guys again, and the bar was pretty bad ass too.
I travel to Austin several times for meetings with my company, Keller Williams, and I catch them any time I can. They always put on a high energy show. Only problem is...hard to be ready for business if you stay for the third set! Love them!

At a minumum they need a fake keyboard player.
