Antreese, before I responded, I wanted to hear you play. Are you playing and singing "I've got good news"? If so, you do have a great talent. If there was one thing I could relay to young musicians, it isn't the not combinations, but the rhythm of the hands that make the difference. Notes will come later...learn to rhythm the hands and arms with feeling and don't be afraid to make mistakes. I play in front of thousands at church each week and mess up all the time. The key is to cover up well.
Jay, thanks for the comment. Playing in this style is best if not emulated (ie playing Motzart or a famous movie theme song, etc.)
But the old blues music is done from the gut. In other words, I would never do it the same way twice.
But knowing the blues chords and phrases does help. Let me know if you have any specific questions or videos of your own that you would like for me to see.
Your love for the piano and the blues shows on this video. Your style and sound reminded me a little bit of James Booker, my all-time favorite piano player. Very well done Larry and thanks for posting the video!
This is how I would like to play. With feeling, if there is no feeling in the music what is the use in playing? It is just empty notes and touches no one. I am learning but my left hand is a rebellious hand to say the least. I have played your clip over and over I only wish you would put some more blues on here for us to hear. Thanks Kathy
Thank you Kathy! I actually have new speakers, new keyboard and new camera for better sound quality and will be putting new videos online in the next few days. I put thse vieos on as a test...and never dreamed people would watch them. Please let me know what you think of the next ones coming soon.
Nice! I love this style of music. I'm going to subcribe to your videos in hope that you post some lessons soon! p.s does your computer respond well with your keyboard?
You are So very kind! I do plan on putting more videos out that step into the style. I will say that the number one thing that I do to learn is play with my eyes closed a lot in order to feel the music rather than immitate someone else's style. But learning from someone's sounds and making it your own is the best source of playing. God bless!
Thanks so much! By sound do you mean the piano itself or the style of play? I will be happy to post some more videos in the near future that break down some of the technique that you can develop into whatever you want to play. Thanks again for the post!
Thank you! I know that when I was learning, I didn't even own a piano and had to sorta break into the local college at night just to be able to play lol. But I love playing and it really is good to hear from others. God Bless!

Thanks for the complements Adam. To me, it is a privelege to have people give a listen and then be considerate enough to let me know what they think.
