I drink soy milk everyday. It lasts a lot longer than milk. Depending on what kind of soy milk it can last up to 1.5 yrs (that was the expiration date I saw at 99 ranch market). Because of that I can buy a crap load of them at once w/out having to worry about not having anything w/ my cereal lol
Since I decided to become a vegan I've done some research on the subject and the result was vegan diet is the best for you but take vitamin B12 and consume soy products with moderation and mainly from fermented products such as tempeh and miso soup.
Yes, soy products have been around thousands of years: Tempeh, miso, natto, and soy sauce are all FERMENTED products. The fermentation process destroys the toxins. Tofu comes from the pressed "curds" of the soybean. The rest is thrown out -- and the bad stuff along with it. Soy milk is made by washing the beans in alkaline or boiling them in a petroleum-based solvent; bleaching, deodorizing, and pumping them full of additives
Milk is not good, unless you take organic milk, milk has a lot of hormones a antibiotics that the cows are put on in order to produce more milk and meat, besides, your body is not prepare to drink the antibodies of the cow, you are not a cow, only the ones of humanes.
I Made Some Homemade Soy Milk, & My Stomach Hurt For About 12 Hours Sofar.. I Really Wanna Learn How To My My Own Because It'd Be Cheaper Than Buying It.. But It Hurts My Stomach Really Bad Evertime I Make It.. But I Can Drink Soy Milk From The Store.. Does Anyone Know What Would Be The Cause Of This?
Hey, that is baaaad!! That means your body is SCREAMING at you to never put that stuff in your body again, don't you see it? Food shouldn't go through so many processes just in order to be able to eat it. And then their is the digestion. Humans are collectors, they have collected foods from the ground and trees, from bushes, hunted and been fishing. This is something else. Maybe soy is could be used for mechanical motors, not human stomachs! Watch out!
Welll maybe you should read up on milk... Milk has to go through more proccessing then soy milk. First they have to get a cow pregnant, then ship their baby to a veal industry, pump the cow with harmones to double the milk- milk the cow, then cool the milk-homogenize it, to distriute fatty content- then pasturize it to kill bacteria.
Too much soy has been linked to many health problems, including cancer, as published by JAMA June 1, 2001 stating that the high amount of genistein, one of the isoflavones in soy has been linked to cervical cancer. Moderation rather than radical extremes might be better.
Too much meat has been linked to many health problem as well my friend, do some research, high cholesteral, diabetes, clogged arteries, Liver cancer, constipation, Ance, cancer. Read, THE CHINA STUDY. I think it was a 30 Year Study done on the effect of meat and proccess foods.
I have read a lot of this kinds of things on this, I am biologist and I can tell you that sadly most of people are living their lives with lies concerning to food. Milk from cows for exemple is not as nourishing as most of people say. Please Read specialized books like from Ph.D. Anne Marie Colbin. Why dou you believe a lot people become vegetarian or vegan, not only for love and compassion for animals, but for health too.
Por supuesto que no tiene colesterol, ningun alimento que tiene origen de una planta la tiene, ya que el colesterol se encuentra formando parte de la membrana celular de toda celula animal. Valga la aclaracion, pero no es para reirse si alguien no lo sabe.
I think distilled or filtered water is best. Just stay away from unfiltered tap water which usually has chlorine, flouride and other nasty things you don't want in your soy milk or your body.
@Suthenboy Also watch out if you have your own local spring because the hard water can cause the soymilk to curdle a bit. In Missouri, for instance, the water is very hard. I use the spring water if I plan to make tofu.
Wow, this is great from an educational view, the women shows very calmly how to make soy milk. But I have a question for you, Suthenboy- what is your actual opinion about drinking soy milk? Your last comment confused me a bit. I'd be very greatful for an answer, as I am very interested in alternatives for usual cow milk. Thanks
My opinion of soy milk is that it's wonderful in comparison with cow's milk, especially when you consider the black cloud that hangs over the factory farming industry. If it's homemade and prepared with love, even better. Personally I feel simple is better, and usually simple is more natural. My alternatives to milk alternatives are coconut water or fresh made raw nut milks (pumpkin, almond, sunflower, sesame). Before I discovered these natural treats I drank my share of soy milk and loved it.
Soy is definitely not the 'best' thing to put in your body due to hybridization and its effects on hormone metabolism. Yet it is beneficial as an alternative to cow's milk which most people can not digest properly.
There's only one problem with your statement - Asians only consume FERMENTED soy products NOT soy milk. Other factors to consider: anti-nutrients that prevent your body from absorbing essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc. enzyme inhibitors that make it harder for your body to absorb protein. • hemagglutinin, a substance that promotes blood clots. goitrogens, which cause gout and thyroid problems
dead wrong they do drink soy milk. They have chocolate, coconut, plain, redbean, taro root flavors. And they even have green tea flavored. Unsweetened and sweetened.
Sorry... I spoke too soon. The tofu video hasn't been editted yet. I uploaded the 2 part video on how to make gluten/saiten from flour... once you make gluten you can cook it all different kinds of ways. Hang in there for the tofu video.
Why would anybody drink milk from a frikin cow? Its one of the worst things you can put in your body people. Just because its everywhere doesn't mean that its good for you. Suthenboy, you should can the music on this vid when theres talking. 'De-bubbleize'... cool, I need some de-bubbleizing.
Great Video I really enjoy it! Hope you enjoy ours…

soy was only used as animal feed until the low/no fat diets started to hit in the 1970's - so how do we know its really safe for human consumption ?

Or...
Soy has been consumed by humans for a few thousand years. Please consider how long it has been in Asian diets.
