I used to have this on tape. I never thought it was that funny but this opening was tight. His later shows were much funnier. "Afros & Bell-bottoms" especially and many of his old school cruise shows I have on tape are hilarious.
OMG! I used to watch this over and over again back in the 90s. Sinbad was funny as hell!! I remember thinking the dance intro was awesome, but looking back at it now, it looked like they all began losing momentum as the song progressed. LOL! And Sinbad worked the exhaustion in there quite nicely for the sake of the act itself.
This shit is so funny even after more than a decade. And yes, Sinbad is a truly funny comedian, never having to rely on filth flarn filth ( a reference to Eddie Murphy's 'RAW') to get his point nor his punchline across.
It a shame HBO will not release this on DVD. I have search every where on the net for this one. It the only one I can not find. Does anyone have a copy of it.
@rockinInIndy I went to see him in LA in May... one of the audience members asked him the same thing. He said HBO owns the rights to Brain Damaged and to this day they have not put it on home video or DVD. He didn't know if they will, either. Really, over 20 years later and HBO hasn't put this out?? Such a shame... :-/
Thank you so much for posting this. I had a VHS copy I recorded off HBO when it first aired that two friends of mine borrowed and ended up wanting as their wedding gift about 6 years ago, which I reluctantly gave them knowing it's not available on DVD. Hope one day it will be. I can't even find a torrent on this. Anyway, this is my favorite stand-up act ever! Thanks again!
I LOVE THE S-BAD!!! lol I've ALWAYS been a die-hard Sinbad fan ever since I was a kid (late 80's). Among the many reasons for my love of him is the fact that he didn't plunge head first into that "dirty jokes only" comedian phase like Andrew Dice Douche Clay and others at that time. He didn't have to cuz' he was JUST THAT DAMNED GOOD!! hehe Can I PLEASE get a little back-up on this so that I can at least know I'm not totally insane or a social leper or something else socially toxic/nuts? lol
wow i can't believe I found this. My parents taped this back in the day when it come on HBO and a couple of years ago they "accidentally" taped over it. This was so funny lol!
When I was in college, we had 12 black women at the college I went to. 12 ugly black women to be exact! And uh, after about November though, they didn't look that bad, matter of fact by January, they was kinda fine. lol Hilarious.
Can you imagine if you were one of the dancers and one of your kids found this video of you... their only hope is that the camera doesn't get close enough to I.D. them. But the guy at 5:30 is condemned to a life of explaining that he was trying to work his way through college or something.
sinbad is one of the worlds best comedians in the world. i loved this stand-up show when i was a kid and i wish i had a dvd of it now so i could watch it for the rest of my life. Sinbad is ultimately my favorite comedian ever!!!
i miss sinbad he is a comedian that you can let your kids watch and know there not gonna be corrupted. 99% of these comedians nowadays cant hold a candle to sinbad they need to use sick and crude humor to shock people into laughing sinbad had no need to because he had real talent
youll never see a performance of 90s stuff much these days, eSpecially the way he came out, then went back and came out again....and SMOKE the FRAT crew, and He USED to do that!!......and he's TRUTH!!!
Word?! On the real, he DID that! Ha! Ha! I mean even though they dancing to some throwback joint, Sinbad was doin it. Then to go on and do a whole show? Where they do that at?!
@SamRaffield. This was sooooooooo long ago, but I believe this is a remix of the song, "I've got the power" by Snap. There were so many remixes of that song back then that I can't be 100% certain.

The thing I always enjoyed about Sinbad is that his comedy is clean, and still VERY funny! I don't have a problem with obscenity, but it's a crutch to a lot comedians. Sinbad is flat-out funny!
