  • I am disgusted with what the AKC has done to the standard. It is not the same as 50 years ago when german shepherd dogs were german shepherd dogs. Those American Showline are no longer even herding dogs. The point of a breed standard is for the breed to do what it was intended to do...herd. That is why I will not get another but a WG line working GSD. Leave the frogs to the money grubbing competitors for the Eukanuba title.

  • @NatReader The standard itself isn't horrid. It's the judges, I'm appalled that AKC supports judges with such tastes. There are decent judges, they're hard as hell to find though. :(

  • @NatReader If you really read the standard, it never says they have to look like this. Mine is living proof. She has her Championship, meets the standard pretty well, and still has her Schutzhund 3 (working dog sport created by Max von Stephanitz) herding titles, and has won and/or placed in several working dog championships. Breeders need to start striving to breed a GSD who both meets the standard, and can work too. Not one who does just one or the other. It's very possible.

  • @NatReader Oh, and just FYI, the majority of us who show or work dogs are not "money grubbing competitors," we truly love our dogs as companions and Best friends first and foremost. We show because we think our dog is beautiful and meets the standard, and we want our dogs to get their championship to prove to others that our dog is of good quality. The 50K that ONE winner gets for Eukanuba, does no even begin to cover the hundreds of thousands that person spent to get there.

  • if max von stephanitz would see this german shepherds he would die again

  • @erich1313sch Same with the roach back monsters of the German Show Lines.. Yuck.

  • @Eluuna but german show lines are able to compete in schutzhund and get schh3 papers, american show lines not

  • @erich1313sch Doesn't change the fact that they are grossly deformed. They have a grotesque topline, and nowadays I'm seeing angulation on them that rivals that of the American lines. Anyone with half a mind can see that the German Showlines are not normal. Max von Stephanitz would roll in his grave looking at those deformed dogs. The only "true" German Shepherds are the Working Lines.

  • @Eluuna i completley agree with you, im happy because my gsd has not the straight back of other show gsd's.. the thing i most hate in shiw lines is the temperament, working line gsd's are dominant, brave and real hard driven, most show line gsd's are pussies

  • @erich1313sch Depending on the line, many German Showlines are signifcantly worse then the American ones. I train and compete at the National level with my Shepherd in Schutzhund (she has her American Championship AND Schutzhund III title, it is possible) and my German Training coach who knows a ton about German lines says that the German show people just bribe the judges all the time to give them the title.

  • @AgilityBeagle Well my trainers female gsd, is a from german lines, and she is VA1 in chile and she has sch3,,, i prefer the german line over the american line

  • @erich1313sch Yeah, mine's from seiger lines in Germany, and meets the standard perfectly, but somehow, she doesn't have the extreme roach back of her parents and ancestors. It's just a nice slope. Nothing extreme. She just got her Schutzhund III. I do like the german lines better. the American line temperaments lack any type of fire or courage. They're couch potatoes. My Maltese have more correct temperament according to the GSD standard, then the american lines do.

  • @AgilityBeagle yeah my female gsd has also not the etreme roach back of other gsd's,,, my gsd is still in training ;) and yeah american show lines are shit

  • do you have to have the dogs papers to register in one of those dog shows?

  • @TheGermansheperdguy Yes~ And preferably AKC, otherwise there is a chance that they won't accept them.

  • @liltaliana ohh okay thanks but what if you could just look at the dog and see its full blooded you still need papers?

  • @TheGermansheperdguy Not even that will work, the dog must must must be registered. Without the papers you will never be able to do conformation with him/her. You can do other AKC activities though if you register through PAL-(Purebred Alternative Listing). Downside is that you would need to Neuter/Spay your pet as a requirement. Just stating again in case you misunderstood, even with PAL you still cannot show the dog. :(

  • @liltaliana Wow Okay But Im Sorry For The Questions 1 More Question Though, if the kennel owner did not provide the papers for your dog can a vet or animal doctor make papers for your dog? Yes or No And if you may put information into your answer please.

  • @TheGermansheperdguy Sorry to jump into this convo. More than likely you got your dog from a BYB meaning they do NOT do health testing on their dogs,do not show their dogs and mainly breed for the $. Also a reputable breeder usually only sells on Limited registration which means you HAVE to get your dog fixed and can not breed or show your dog. If I was you I would search for a reputable breeder and get involved with them. Ask them if you can co-own on of their dogs and LEARN from them.

  • @doglover091 Ohh Thanks for more information but the kennel i got my dog from did give my dog all his shots before i got him he de-wormed him and everything he is a german blood line dog he was checked for hip problems and stuff like that. his dad is big boned and also has good hips his mother isnt big boned and was also checked for hip problems but what i was saying is all i really wanted is his pedigree to show he is pure bred i mean iknow he is but what about other people thinking he is not?

  • @TheGermansheperdguy If you got him from a breeder then I wouldn't worry about people no thinking he i pure bred. I had a GSD for awhile that didn't have papers and everyone KNEW he was pure bred. If you wouldn't mind messaging me then name of the breeder you got your pup from I would look at it and see if they are reputable or not. It sounds like they are but just to check

  • I dont like the american bloodlines, i love the german lines better.

  • @PrincessMichigan18 The German Showlines are just as crippled. And the American WORKING lines are just as good as the German WORKING lines.

  • Such beautiful dogs

  • stop dissing the dogs, it aint their fault they got bad legs, u have no pity. :(

have u got 1 urself? then u shood b more understanding.

  • @heycove i do agree the dogs aren't to blame, it's these oblivious breeders who cripple their dogs. People have really messed up gsds from crippling and breeding timidand aggressive dogs.

  • stop dissing the dogs, it aint their fault they got bad legs, u have no pity. :(

  • The GSD is the only dog that looks like a dinosaur when it runs.

  • THE GERMAN SHOWLINE IS THE BEST

  • @tromus77 The German Showlines are just as crippled. If you think otherwise, then you are as just as blind as the people who don't think these dogs are. Go ahead, look at some of the Sieger dogs, anyone with half a brain could see that they do not look normal. Each line has its extremes. Pick your poison.

  • @gsd766 - Also, when these animals have been repeatedly bred or when they are stacked in the show ring to have their back lower extremities far away from the center of the body, this causes the head of the femur to slip in the acetabulum at extreme angles causing the dog to have the angulated look, this isn't anatomically healthy because the the ball & socket joint will become worn down (arthritic), ligaments become over stretched (sub-luxed) and the dog will like get hip dysplasia & have pain.

  • @gsd766 - I will agree that the German showlines are on average more structurally sound than the American showlines. However, any breed of dog that walks on it's hocks during any part of gaiting is NOT a structurally sound dog. The weight of the animal is being supported on joints that are not meant to be dominant weight bearing joints. A dog that walks on it's hocks is like a human walking just on their ankles.

  • OH i really do beg the world: change the American version of the GSD & the English version of the GSD(Alsation) to different breeds PLEASE. They do the breed no good whatsoever.

  • Showring breeders have anatomically ruined these dogs. Their legs are to be under to support body weight, they are NOT supposed to be walking on their hocks; this changes the stability of the head of the femur in the acetabulum. The dogs chances for developing arthritis, sub-luxation & sadly the most well known: hip dysplasia go up when these extreme forces are on the joint. The original breed did not look like this, but a "flashy gait/look" created $, & so the breeds structure began to change.

  • @craymond723 The german showline is quite good actually. They have the beauty but also have the ability to work perfectly & there health is also good. The SV is definetely doing a good job.

The american showline, on the other hand, is jsut ridiculous. Read my other comment, you will find out my views on the American version of the GSD

  • Please send me the video as commented

  • Please PM me your email address...that's what I was waiting on

  • i like your video. Actually i am on it with my gsd. please conntacte me.

  • such beautiful dogs

  • @BurnnoticeAddict15 The American version of the German Shepherd is just a pure disgrace. They have weak nerves & would run at the sound of a gun & could never even attempt schutschund or herding.

What is the point of a dog, which offers you no protection & then is riddled with diseases & hips which have bones as brittle as a baby's skull(even worse actually)

  • @gsd766 what u have the german shepherd as your icon or is it not

  • @gsd766 It is, but some good, versatile dogs still do exist, though they're rare. I got mine from pure German sieger showlines, and she meets the AKC standard almost perfectly, yet has her Schutzhund III title and has won and placed at National Championships. If you read the standard, it does NOT require the extremes seen today in the show ring. It is very possible to breed a dog who can do well in both, mine's living proof, but it will take a dedicated breeder/s to make it the norm.
