My therapist has been trying to quell my fears by expressing to me the very things that you are explaining, but since your information comes to me from a neutral source, it seems less dangerous, thus it might make it easier for me to take the life-threatening risk of daring to try to trust my therapist once again. As you know, once distrust has been triggered, the therapist seems like the predator; the client feels like her prey, and re-establishing trust seems impossible. Thanks for your help.
I told my therapist about your channel. Presently, we are trying to forge through a recent upheaval in trust, and I have felt more defeated than ever before. Finding your videos today offers a means to bridge an understanding between my therapist and me. (Continued in next comment)
The prize that drives me to continue my journey is that I have experienced (even if for only days, sometimes mere hours at a time) how much easier it is to live when life is bearable. I have been in therapy for over 8 years now, and even yet, I can barely grasp the concept of safety, trust, and connection, and when I do, it is discouragingly difficult to sustain it; I easily fall back into learned fears and behaviors.
Thank you so much for the clarity with which you explain this subject. I am a 55 year old survivor of childhood trauma, and never got a drop of the intervention that you explain is so helpful to such children. I can definitely imagine how helpful early intervention would have been. At this point in my life, it feels nearly impossible to develop the sense of trust and safety that makes life feel worth living. (continued in next comment)
