  • Yeah, probably just as embarrassing for cEvin Key as the Ministry "With Sympathy" videos...!

  • hard to belive the guy who founded skinny puppy was once in this band

  • I used to love this song too! Glad I remembered today!

  • It's not that hard to believe that these guys just said "fuck this"... dropped this band and started the industrial Skinny Puppy.

  • @Vladdyboy

they? it was kevin, and even here he is demonstrating how progressive he is with that drum kit. And images in vogue wasn't at all bad considering the popular music climate of canada at the time. they just shouldn't have let that dork with the guitar in.

  • Singer's voice reminds me of that Green Day guy, but in a band that sounds like Devo.

  • oh good gravy...now I have to watch all the 80's stuff.

  • this sounds live.I saw them in concert and they were world class!

  • joe verziry the member of iiv is a teacher now

  • Cant beleive that the one who´s playing the drums is Mr. Cevin Key....!!!

  • I had this 45!!!

  • wow, it's weird to see my cousin Dale doing this. Love you cous, this is great!

  • ...I had that outfit!

  • @squiddytag I had that hair! Man, this takes me back...good times!!

  • really strange seeing Cevin Key in this setting; plus the fact that this was what he was going before SKINNY PUPPY.

  • @drido where is he? its kind of hard to tell with the hair and all haha

  • @pacman80500 He's at the back on the drums. Yeah, there are some mighty coiffed manes going down.

  • $ people didn't like this video but the majority of you did...Yay ! Boo to 4 of you...

  • Edward Scissorhands goes musical

  • I wonder if people know whos on the electronic drums? it's cEvin Key from Skinny Puppy, well before SP.

  • my dad beat the shit out of him in a bathroom and now i know why

  • @gamerone00 wow! The acorn didn't fall far from the angry tree did it.

  • @iggyover lol sorry i was little when i saw this video and very arrogant, but now i think ive learned to be more less arrogant as you might be able to see in my newer videos

  • These guys played at my moms prom. =]

  • Dale's Robert Smith-Michael Jackson-Clart Kent look is so cool.

  • this singer iv seen him with numb in washington dc opening for front line assembly and die krupps

it was the best show ever ,

  • dale wasn't in numb. you're thinking of don gordon and he wasn't the singer of either band, though he was an original member of IIV and went on to form Numb.

  • as much as i love industrial and other forms of metal i do have a soft spot for new wave and sythpop

  • considering the singer was with numb and the drummer with skinny puppy , lol

  • damn i always wondered what this shit was like... i believe Mr. Crompton made the proper decision in pursuing the furtherance of his side project.

  • Such a cool song. One of my favs. I loved this group. Saw them back in the '80's also. Dale is soooo hot!!!!! I liked a lot of groups in this style. Too bad music isn't like this anymore. This was the best!!!

  • Didn't one of these guys end up in Skinny Puppy?

  • that's Kevin Crompton on the Synth Drums

  • Great song & melody. I remember a buddy of mine dragged me to a local bar in Toronto to see these guy's in the early 80's and I had no clue who they were. They had the hair, the leather, smoke machines etc...amazing: basically what you see here. I'll never forget it! And to see this video now brings back wonderful memories. Dale's voice was original and bands like this you'll never see again!

  • in VIDEO PRODUCTION 11

  • joe vizvary is my teacher!!

  • lots of psychedelic furs influence..... very cool band.. in the era of THE SPOONS... Platinum Blonde

  • Yes definitely has a Psychedelic Furs feel. This really brings back memories...teenage angst.

  • AWW SHEEIT; Thats the music teacher at my school . Vizvary is amazing !

  • one of the members is my music teacher mr.vivary he tell us stroies about his band i go to princess margret secoundry school iam not joking

  • yep a few of us have had him for a teacher. Pretty fucking crazy hey

  • u go to PM too me too wwat grade im in grade 10

  • i thought it was 1987..that must have been their other hit...

  • this song is REALLY adictive, think its like 30 times in a row

  • Cevin Key looks really, really bored.

  • summer of '87 or '88..

  • This came out in 1985

  • Oops, sorry about the spelling error in the last post. Didn't mean to disrespect your teaching skills. I swear I was paying attention in class!

  • Joe Vizvary was my grade 10 english teacher about 15 years ago in Toronto! He had the Edward Scissor-Hands haircut at the time wich made him a legend!

  • you guys would never believe me but one of these people in the band is my musics teacher. can't recognize him, but he is joe vizvari, keyboard dude.

  • I believe you. If you go to the Images in Vogue website and check under member profiles it says that Joe is now working as a music teacher!

I'd give my left nut to be able to talk to Joe, and Glen, Dale etc .. now. Just loved them back in the 80's! Have you ever met Glen Nelson? I know he and Joe are buds and do a lot of keyboard work together! Glen was always my favorite!

To Chronskiez! Glad you are a nice guy...Very few nice guys left out there! Cheers!

  • i havent met any other band members. but joe is like a normal everyday teacher. he's disresptected by students and all, but he doesn't care much. i still think its so awesome that one of my teachers used to be this famous!

  • Holy small world. I believe you because i've heard a few other people comment saying the same thing. I envy you, that is so awesome.

  • lol i know it so awesome. hes a pretty awesome teacher. he has all these posters and stuff of his band in his classroom. its still pretty hard to believe

  • Not bad, not my style of music, but I am much happier that that members of this band went on to make angry, distorted breakdance music! (That's the first thing that came to mind when I heard sleeping beast! Instant love!)

  • Was always a big fan of theirs back in the early 80's, especially Glen Nelson, but I never saw them in concert....Damn shame!

  • I had never heard of them before when I saw them open for Duran Duran in '84 in Seattle. MAN, they rocked the house and had the whole arena in the palm of their hands. It was very impressive - I'll never forget it. After that I bought every record I could find. These guys are great.

  • How did you even HEAR them? They opened in Vancouver for DD as well - was all screamin' girls...annoying!

  • I guess that means Rihanna's 'better'.

  • lol, that dude is just bitter because he heard that Chris Brown was blasting Skinny Puppy in his Lamborghini when he went berserk on Rihanna.

(always blame it on the music. works every time)

  • GOD! don't ever compare Rhianna to Images In Vogue... this was like 3 years before she was even born! and they are way too different to compare

  • Who the hell is Rihanna?????

  • Comment removed

  • Bro..I was being sarcastic. I know who Rihanna is. I just don't see why someone would mention her and Images in Vogue in the same sentence. Christ, she wasn't even born when Images in Vogue put this song out.

The music of today just sucks ass. Glad I grw up in the 80's!

  • Its hard to catch sarcasm on a computer. I was gonna comment and say "how could you not know who she is?" lol i didn't cuz im nice. Hey man there are people out there who are dumb enough not to know who she is.. but yes.. i agree the 80's were the best decade of the 20th century i envy you for growing up then... i was in pre-school in the 80's LOL but haven't stopped listening to the music since

  • my old high school friend is now married to the lead singer

  • Coolest Canadian band and cutest singer back in the 80s =)

  • there bass player is a teacher at my school

  • there lead singer Dale Martindale is my cousin lol.

  • Are those the new ROCK HERO drums that he iz playing ????LOL :}

  • That drummer is cEvin Key from Skinny Puppy, I can't believe the cheez.

  • This is the first time I've ever seen footage of him with them. I almost can't believe my eyes and ears, too.

  • Awesome. I knew cEvin was in the band but never saw footage before.

  • Could Johnny Depp have been a fan?? The lead singer looks a lot like Edward Scissorhands!

  • Damn. You beat me to the joke... :)

  • Sorry buddy!

  • look everyone its a cleaner soberer Canadian version of Robert Smith!

  • lol one of them are my teacher for key bourd n drums!!

  • Oh Man. I've been wanting to see this video for 20 years but I could never remember the song or band.

Can the time fly by faster.....?

  • LOL This is a terrible video, isn't it The song has aged quite well, shame about the hair and dancing.

  • Haha I saw these guys live back in the days... they were really good!

  • Me too...

I saw them at Carleton U in 85 or so.

  • Great Canadian synthpop band

  • Once a fairly cool band. Then -- just before this lo-budget video -- they all went to the hairdresser. Quelle dommage! Look like a cheap bunch of Cure fans who admire the style choices of Platinum Blonde a wee too much. Check "Lust For Love" for the way they should have remained -- just a teeny bit ahead of their time, though not for long.

  • Dale you rock just make sure you get your ass to my party in AUG, i got the Flints comeing and Tim ............Normie

  • hey thanks for putting this, now people can hear some good music :D

  • hah! You're very welcome!

  • I saw this group at Mohawk College, Hamilton, Ontario mid 80's,,, they were awsome...!!!

  • Wow, I saw these guys at the opening festivities for the (then) new Mississauga City Hall.

Man, I feel old now :-(

  • Great tune! Does anybody have their performance from the CASBY Awards(ca '85)? It would be nice to see The Lucy Show and Darkroom performances as well.

  • great song.

  • Cevin Key left after the "In The House" album was recorded. He didn't like the direction the band was going. I think they did well anyway. If you listen to Skinny Puppy's Christianity song, you can hear him playing a sample of Dale Martindales voice. I wouldn't say he was better off leaving. Both bands were unique, though Skinny Puppy was more successful. And punks like Trent Reznor stole their sound. He was like the American Idol of Industrial Pop.

  • Just to be fair, TRent Reznor made alot of amazing music himself. And Skinny Puppy was VERY influenced by Cabaret Voltaire. Musicians influence musicians.

  • hard to imagine that cevin key made skinny puppy after coming from this band. but now i can see why their early albums had the ebm/new wave sound... and why they abandoned that

  • thanks for making the comment..I always thought it was him,,,but it just fif not make sense....all that anger was just waiting to come out...lucky for SP fans!!!

  • jst Luv this Song!thx.for posting it!Remember seeing them @ the Comodore in'86!!This Group,were so Cool! Awesome!It ws Halloween,w/Images in Vogue.I ws in the front, close to the stage,on the right.They sounded Great!!Looked so Good,& so Together!Dale Great Frontman,one of the Best!The Keyboardist Excellent,the entire Group,way Cool!Miss u Guys.wish u would come Bck.Vanc.Luvs u.

  • You're welcome..thanks for the note..glad you enjoyed this!

  • Cevin Key from Skinny Puppy is playing the drum pads. Awesome! I see why he left this band.

  • Glen Nelson, the keyboardist on the left side of the stage sure looks like Bryan Ferry!

  • Always loved Dale's breathy wail.

    Del.

  • Images in Vogue never intended this footage to be their official video for Call it Love but their record label released it without their permission.

But this song is so feel-good that it stands on its own.

  • Oh my God I love this song! I have not heard it in decades. Oh the memories this song brings back. Thank you for posting this song! It is a gem from my youth.

  • Hey, you're welcome!

  • Gahhh...I remember Dale and Howard Busgang from "Switchback" on the CBC! Anyone remember that show? Shawn Thompson was host first. Man...brings back memories. :)

  • What was that show like?

  • It was sort of a variety show. I just read in Wikipedia that depending on where you were, your host was different. For Toronto, it was Dale and Howard. They played cartoons, had contests, and essentially it was awesome fun for tweens and teens. I had the opportunity to go see a live taping with Shawn Thompson and it was AWESOME. Cats Can Fly was the musical guest. Need I say more? ;) :)

  • Yeah! I saw that. It was the same week as the Duran Duran concert at the Saddledome in Calgary. (January, 1984).

We had no idea who the opening act was, but my friend Jennifer swore that the guy sitting next to me on my left was from Images in Vogue - said she recognized him from Switchback. I said "nah", but then he grinned at us, got up and walked away. Next thing, we see him up on stage playing drums. Turned out the opening band was IIV, and the guy sitting beside me was Kevin Crompton.

  • I was at that concert, too - what a great show by both bands.

  • MOTERHEAD

  • They could have been huge, but they were badly managed. Great song. Great Canadian Band! Thanks have not heard this for years. Just about impossible to download a copy?

  • I just downloaded it off iTunes

  • The reunion would be great....Dale...I still listen to you as I ski with my walkman....great great tunes for me growing up..I remember seeing you at some stinky small pubs in Mississauga...great times...thanks!

  • I saw them at Spanky's in Brampton - fantastic!

  • I love the chorus in the song the most. Just so brilliantly done with the orchestral melody playing through. A masterpiece!

  • totally agree! Good times!

  • Do you know if IIV are considering a reunion? If so, that'd be awesome! - they could tour with all the other new wave bands from that era that've reunited

  • My most favourite song by IIV. They definitely were innovators of New Wave

  • I agree! I just wish they had air play here in the states back in the day...

  • My God!! I totaly forgot about this band! I used to love this song so much! Thanks!

  • I love this group!!

  • Classic
