  • Mustaine looked like he wasn't having any fun. He's STILL pissed he got fired from Metallica. Get over it, Dave. It's been 28 years. Besides if Metallica didn't fire him they may never have made it.

  • @av8rdav He's not pissed, he actually wants to do something with James and Lars with David Ellefson, man it would be awesome if they would do something

  • You know, it's sad to see people comparing EVERY member Megadeth had after Friedman, to him. Give up, he's not coming back; actually, I've never missed him. And actually (again), I've never missed any member Megadeth had. They're out, period. I was very happy with the UA line-up; and now I'm even happier with today's formation, not because of Ellefson's return, but with Chris in the band.

  • My best friend's aunt is broderick's girlfriend so every time they come to town we get vip passes free. It's legit

  • The people that say Chris isn't as good are the fan boys of megadeth...chris is an all around better player, sure Friedman wrote the stuff but Chris can at least play them flawlessly and he's a better player in general so I say good job Chris, I'm glad your here

  • Kinda glad Glen left to support his family, Chris plays this a thousand times better than he did.

  • i say fuck change is good marty went because he didn't like the music he was playing, chris is here now and he can do the work friedman left and better.

  • Isn't this ironic?

Marty left after "Risk" because he thought that Megadeth's music was going pop....No he's more towards pop in Japan xD

  • @Jxiro13 Marty did not leave because Megadeth's music was going pop. He left because he saw himself as being too pop for Megadeth. In other words, that kind of metal was not what he really wanted.

  • @DancerHobo

    thanks for the correction :)

I was wrong the entire time xD

  • @Jxiro13 Thats not truth... Marty leaves because he wanted to do pop. watch the behind the music , he said he loves the pop and Metal but he loves more Pop and he wanted to do pop.

  • @androckbel ik man

    It was my mistake lol

Btw: tht behind the musik is awesome!

  • Great cover chris :D

  • @MrNonoz

He's playing a 7 string in this video. When he goes on tour he only plays one guitar the whole night. I'm not sure if his Jackson is a seven string yet or if he'll change it up.

  • Chris broderick is a awesome guitar player and so is marty. Marty is in Japan and he has a completely different style leaning towards pop.

  • OMG 1:29 Chris hit an open string...maybe hes not such a good robot after all :P

  • chris is a very accurate player and he really works a lot on the songs to play them like poland or marty for example...

marty is a very special player...he is using foreign scales and puts lots of feeling in his solos...the only thing where broderick lacks are friedmans writing skills

for all that want to learn the SoD solo...

remember that he is playing his 7-string ibanez...

so he is playing it a bit different (positions)

  • @onpsxmember

No he's not. Dave won't let him use a 7 in Megadeth

  • @MrNonoz well why then he uses 7 string guitars on Dialectic Chaos and other songs from Endgame?

  • @MrNonoz dave wond let him use ENGL amps, he is fine with the 7 string

  • Amazing, but not the style of Marty Friedman ;) but theres no need for comparison, oth play great! And both were in megadeth at the right time!

i find it honourable that chris nearly plays the solos in the same way as marty does, it keeps marty heritage in megadeth honoured and alive :)

  • megadeth spawned a kid society on youtube. Arguing about old and new members. Its really sad that you think you have to proove anything to complete strangers. I guess thats how it is to have a boring life. All the bashers and selfnamed metal politicians cant even play to the socks on any of them.

  • kekeke ^^

  • chris is better because he bodybuilds and is still the shred king.

  • @edgenchristian What a stupid and shallow argument :)

  • I think you're being compared with Marty because you are trying to play one of his solos hahaha... did a great job playing the right notes, but there is no substitute for marty freidman's playing. Just like any legendary player, there is something there besides technique that is impossible to duplicate. I love your playing, Chris, but I think the obsidian conspiracy could have been a little more interesting with some of your help ;-)

  • @DegraDeadlock woah woah woah guy, you're full on mad bro. Marty didn't "betray" anything or "spit" in the face of any genre of music. he didn't like where Megadeth was going, so he left. have you ever even read an article or watched an interview about the subject? the only animosity Dave has with Marty is because Dave is just a butthurt douchebag. i love Megadeth to pieces but you can't sit there and tell me Dave's not a genuine asshole for no real reason.

  • yeah I agree with with most of you guys are saying. Broderick may be bigger, plays faster than Friedman, but Marty created a lot of the music that helped Megadeth surpass Mettalica. With practice I can play what Marty created, but to create what he creates is impossible because I don't have his mind.

  • @bnbfalcon Surpassed their skills and solos only. Metallica has more creativity.

  • @bnbfalcon Now Broderick has written some mindblowing solos himself. check out his solos for "the viper" and "Iron Eagle" while he was in Jag Panzer

  • NAILED it

  • I don't know why u ppl are debating with marty and chris, Just agree in a point that both of them are good guitarists. Marty was there and Chris is there, so why r u debating????

  • y se escucha "megadeth, megadeth aguante megadeth"

    aguante argentina carajo!!

  • y se escucha "megadeth, megadeth aguante megadeth"

    aguante argentina carajo!!

  • I prefer Friedman over Broderick. Broderick is better guitarist, but Friedman is a better composer, and had much better tone (not saying Chris Broderick's sucks).

  • Marty better then Broderick

  • @Flyinginthebluedream depends

    composition=marty

    speed=broderick

    creativity=marty

    technique=chris

    in resume

    marty=chris

  • @zetanbow16 I think Marty and Broderick has same level of technique. There are some Marty's technique that Broderick can't emulate. I want to add some.

    tone = Marty

    energy = Broderick

    special = Marty

    clean = Broderick

    in resume

    Both are super shredder...

  • @Flyinginthebluedream mabe ur right sill u forgot technique wich broderick succed

  • In my opinion, Dave Mustaine in his prime.

  • That guitar looks small on CB

  • Comment removed

  • It would be very cool to see a live dvd with this line up.

  • @thejigsawmurdersyou there is, people can preorder the rust in peace 20th anneversery dvd on the megadeth web site

  • dudes.. dave mustaine said that chris is the best guitarist megadeth ever had. i agree marty was god.. but chris is better. i mean classic trained guitar players are always better

  • @stephenc90 marty is a classical guitarist as well, go check out cacophony or some of marty's old solo albums.

  • Very good covers but he actually rushes the fast phrases, instead of laying back on those like Marty, still the best we've had since Marty left.

  • What a great guitarist...what a BICEPS!!! ( meant not in a gay way))))

  • Man, Broderick nails Friedman's solo, like as if it were Friedman. This guy can play anything.

  • The fact is...Friedman was Great! No one denies that! But He no longer likes this kind of stuff. So..fortunately, we've got Chris who can NOW play all Friedman's most difficult beautiful solos PERFECTLY FLAWLESS!! (even better than Marty could if He tried...I mean, these days) .

    period.

  • @BrunoJovi You must've not heard Loudspeaker or some of Marty's other recent albums 'cause he's still playing amazingly well.

  • haha! he had to look down for this solo

  • @voyager71390 LOL, yeah, he is human and needs to see what he's doing

  • @voyager71390 haven't seen you doing it facing the ceiling....

  • Chris plays that solo like Marty did..awesome stuff!!!! -Countdown to Extinction is a great album..the solo's on there are so tasteful and have such a cool feel to them.

  • Chris can play Martys solos very good. That mostly it. He's just shredding on the new album...boring man..

  • Your all idiots, Marty and Poland both destroy Broderick.

There is not one single memorable solo Broderick has made on Endgame.

Every solo Marty and Poland played were memorable.

Marty made epic melodic solos with Thrash and Heavy stuff .

Poland made jazzy solos, the way he combined Thrash and Jazz together is pure genious.

Only thing Broderick does better then Marty and Poland is speed, but music is never about speed except if your listening to crap like Dragonforce.

  • Cris Poland, Marty Friedman, Cris Broderick, and DAVE MUSTAINE (GODS) own

    Kirk Hammet!!!

  • Chris is the best guitarist for Megadeth this time. They dont need Marty here. Tho i think Marty was more emotional, so one of the most emotional and best player in the world. Broderick can shred and maybe play faster, i accept we would write this to Nevermores bill. Marty added to his play so many things that made it nothing like another songs. For ex his bends was beautiful(not that it isnt now), but i dont want him back. He was great but they are not at the same era anymore

  • friedman was the man for megadeth. broderick does a good job though, but still. big shoes to fill

  • this guy is such a fag LOL

  • SeanSchecter is such a fag LOL, gtfo faggot

  • @Thor1261 i mean are you really hearing this i can't even tap my foot wtf his voice is like nails on a chalkboard imo

  • lol...

  • LOL THE HAND OF MUSTAINE IN THE END :D

  • Wow, just WOW! I can't believe some people are actually slating Martys technique! Yes, in terms of technique Broderick is truly astounding, far more precise than Friedman, I'll say that much. But the guy can't compose a solo to save his life, I mean a really interesting, memorable one. He would never be able to emulate Martys composition skills. With Martys solos every note had a purpose, if even a single note in parts of the solos for Lucretia or Tornado of Souls was altered you'd know it.

  • you are correct. One can have incredibly fast technique but not have a natural musucial ability, not to say chris doesnt. Its just that marty has more soul on the guitar.

  • @FightOpression when i do solos they sound more like iron maiden solos even though the stuff i play is slayer, megadeth, metallica, sepultura, and pretty heavy stuff so i really don't know why i solo like maiden still they have awesome solos and i would like to say i have watched many vids of chris soloing and hes just really fast, hes precise too but i think marty clearly does have a more memorable soulful style to his solos

  • @Chunkyfudgelover Check out the song "Black" by Jag Panzer.. Chris did an amazing solo!

  • @Superapeaholic My bad..it was tafolla

  • @Chunkyfudgelover My bad...I forgot,,it was tafolla !

  • Chris just play's the awesome solo's made by Marty well... but he has never made a propper solo as good as marty!!

  • I wouldn't necessarily say he can't compose memorable solos. His first two solos in 44 Minutes are a couple of my favorite across Megadeth's entire catalog, and his solo in How the Story Ends is just monstrous. What's memorable for some people could be dull for others (not to say I think Friedman's dull, I just like Broderick a teensy bit more).

  • @Chunkyfudgelover

put the words back in my mouth...you thief *g*

chris is awesome, but it's just like you said

  • @Chunkyfudgelover i will ALWAYS remember the solo in 'How the story ends', just cause broderick is soooo fucking amazing, and cant compose a solo? Doesnt sound like you've listen to any of Endgame.

  • @spazmicjosh

    sorry to disapoint you

all the music (and lyrics) are written by dave mustaine in the Endgame album

except for headcrusher which music was written by dave and shawn and the hardest part of letting go.... which music was written by dave and chris

look it up yourself if you have the disc

the little book of the cover 'has the answers' hahaha >)

  • @ArmendarizBlood I said the SOLOS, i doubt shawn an dave wrote those solo's in endgame, since Chris is the LEAD guitarist !?

  • @spazmicjosh well yeah whatever.. anyway megadeth is a band who cares which particular guy wrote some particular part of the song? yeah marty had talent to write and chris has a lot of techniqe. bla bla Shit! jaja . and yeah chris is the lead guitarist but dave is the mind of megadeth

  • @ArmendarizBlood Yea you really cant beat Daves riffs, they still amaze me an ive been listening to them for for like 4 years straight!

  • @spazmicjosh haha yep. we gotta love dave dispite his personal 'issues' haha

he is a guy with lots of talent and i hope he can give us more good metal to listen in this days of reggea and rap. some are kinda cool and im just sayin it because i love music in all of the expressions but metal won my heart from the begginin'

dammit! Mustain for president of the US of A!

  • @ArmendarizBlood soz but the solos are made by broderick. mustaine could never solo those crazy stuff

  • @nunofrg I dont care dude. chris is not as good as marty or dave. i dont mean skills, i mean creativity. i prefer music with solos that make sense no just insane shreddin' like chris stuff. but i guess it's okay. i dont think marty is ever comin' back to megadeth. he is livin' in japan doing some Fanta spots and composing some really good discs all alone, so who gives a shit! jaja

    Peace!

  • @Chunkyfudgelover totally agreed. finally someone thats knows what hes talking about

  • @Chunkyfudgelover Don't be redicilous dude. It's not because you're in love with Marty that Chris can't compose. Just give him a chance

  • @Chunkyfudgelover Chris CAN compose, it's just that he came into Megadteh with most of Endgame done giving him very little space to work with. If you listen to Jag Panzer you would know. There are interviews on youtube of Chris explaining what little freedom he had in Endgame because most of the album was already finished allowing him very little input into the album. We'll just have to wait for the next album to truly judge Chris' technique.

  • @solidiquis1 I admit I went too far saying "the guy can't compose a solo to save his life". I like Jag Panzer and his solos. But when you're in Megadeth playing lead to Mustaines rhythm you invariably MUST be compared to Marty and he does not compare favourably. Marty had nuance, extraordinary phrasing and was very idiosyncratic. Also his technique is astounding, not on par with Brodericks inhuman abilities, but check out Cacophony if you haven't already.

  • @Chunkyfudgelover i have, and yes, Marty is extremely gifted when it comes to composing. Even as a solo artist he seems to be able to compose the most extraordinary of musical pieces I've ever heard. You should listen to "Amagi Goe" if you haven't, it's a REALLY good song by Marty. But as I was saying, Chris is talented, were any Endgame solos as memorable as Tornado of Souls, Lucretia etc? No, but for me, I won't truly judge his composition ability until the next album.

  • @Chunkyfudgelover Actually Broderick's solo in This is How the Story Ends really moves me.... And the one in the beginning of 44 Minutes... ^_^

  • @Anarchyffan also the fills in the intro from The hardest part of letting go is spine taping

  • @Anarchyffan also the fills in the intro of The hardest part of letting go... are spine taping

  • @Chunkyfudgelover a person's solos can be memorable if u care to remember them

  • @Chunkyfudgelover Fuck off loser

  • @Chunkyfudgelover dude some cunts r so stupid hey, comparing speed and precise technique to being able to simply write amazing solos, is like comparing a go kart to an f1 car, the skill to write, is imply better, anyone can learn to play fast if they can find the time, so many people all over youtube can play like broderick, can anyone write like friedman? no

  • @Chunkyfudgelover Lmao, can't compose a solo to save his life. After years he's spent studying theory at the various music schools he's attended, I'm sure he forgot to cover that.

  • @Wtsmyageagain As I mentioned in a later comment, the "can't compose to save his life" was a dash too far on my part. And as I clarified in other comments having a mastery of theory does not equate to having good composition skills. In fairness to Chris he may not have as much freedom to compose seeing as it seems like he's playing FOR Mustaine as opposed to WITH Mustaine. In any case, Endgame definitely wants to be Rust in Peace but inevitably falls short in every way. Here's to the next album!

  • @Chunkyfudgelover AMen...man. I couldn't say it better. And Im a Chris Fan. Even thou Im really against musical comparison because music is a perceptual art and not a competition, I really agree with your comment. Marty is a composition guru and he also has his fireworks tricks under his strings....

  • Woah woah woah Marty Friedman doesn't have bad technique he is a fantastic guitar player! What are all you guys rambling about he has given some of the best guitar solos in Megadeth and is certainly amazing! I am glad Chris Broderick is with the band he is flawless both Marty and Chris are amazing in their own ways! Enjoy the music.

    Long live MEGADETH!

  • wow

    perfect cover!

  • Chris is waaaay better than marty. Just because Marty was megadeth's guitarist when they were in their prime, doesn't make him better a guitar player.

  • I agree, Chris has flawless technique, Marty's technique was pretty poor. Chris is clearly the better guitarist.

  • Chris is more technical, but Marty has soul and stage presence that Chris can never match.

  • one can not say which guitarist is better in the end... because they both have unique styles... chris is more technical and faster... but marty attracts me more 'cuz he has the right feeling and is different to the normal "shred-guitarist"... his chord progressions are phenomenal

  • @nettyswobb1

No...marty is not better just cause he megadeth was in their prime...

Marty is better cause he composed all this solo people like to listen...

if you can name one solo made by broderick as memorable as marty's...

you'll have trouble to name one.

  • @gre1990 Well dude the songs off endgame aren't as famous as the stuff with marty, so that's why that is me thinks. But anyways, dude, I have my opinion, you have yours, lets leave it at that.

  • @nettyswobb1 his concept of tone is superior. personally id rather have that.

  • @nettyswobb1 true, but both possess immense skill. I don't think Chris is way better, but about the same. Chris and Marty are both awesome instrumentally and with composition. It just feels different because you have two different types of players.

  • @nettyswobb1

    but a better musician

  • @nettyswobb1

Why you guys compare me with marty?

In almost every video i watched people compare me with another guitarist.

I mean, to be honest, You've got good ones and bad ones but every guitarist has his own style.

It doesn't matter wich guitarist is better than the other one, it's just an opinion and not an fact.

And by the way, Marty's still one of my favourite guitar players.

    Cheers, Chris

    Ps. Think twice than write

  • @ChrisBroderick1970 You are right Mr. Chris, I mean the music is about feelings because is an art ,and some people are so blind that they can't see the purpose of why music exists, every guitar player has his own style music and pesonality and in my opinion I think you are one of the most humble persons in the guitar world I'm very glad to respond a coment to you sir Cheers from Mexico Mr. Chris and merry christmas :)

  • @ChrisBroderick1970 Too true chrisso.

  • @ChrisBroderick1970 People will always compare so they feel superior and assured about their taste. It's like when ritchie left deep purple, fans were reluctant to adapt to the new 'purple' sound, even when satch came it didn't work. The impact of classic purple was too overwhelming.

Marty is awesome and so is alex skolnick! Chris, did you used to live in vancouver, my bass player took lessons with you before you join megadeth.

  • @nettyswobb1 have you heard Marty's solo songs

Marty is one of the best cant even belived he played with Megadeth

  • @nettyswobb1 Chris is better tecnically than marty but marty has more soul in his playing and the solos that marty wrote are better than chris

  • @nettyswobb1 as far as skill your right. chris is better. but friedman was a better composer and improviser. if you actually played the guitar then you'd know. damn drummers.

  • friedman forever... amazing slides and arpejos... such a composer...

    chris is cool for megadeth

  • no issues for mr broderick.. what an animal

  • Marty who? Chris could handle the solos even if they were from the devil himself!

But they're not because the devil is DAVE MUSTAINE ahahahaha! MEGADETH!! \m/

  • lo hace parecer tan simple

  • What guitar is Dave using? A Dean i suppose?

  • Its a dean V with shark tooth inlay and the pointed headstock instead of the horns. It looks like hes either got EMG's or Seymour Duncans for Pups the video is a little distorted though.

  • @BluesmanFraser dave mustaine sig duncans

  • to

    BluesmanFraser theyre seymore duncans

  • I believe its his signature Dean with his signature EMG PUs :)

  • if your talking about mustains guitar he has signature symore duncan pickups in it

  • signature seymour duncans :P

  • yep, that's Dean

  • yep

  • I know nothing about deth dude!! Dave only uses Deans!!!

  • @Psychedelicircusa yea I know

  • Chris is good, damn good. Not as good as Marty in my opinion, maybe technically, but... Let's see him compose another Tornado of Souls solo... 'Nuff said.

  • Well, Friedman was awesome, But i prefer the control that chris has over the guitar.

You can realise he has classical basemants which make him better technically,, and he will make awesome solos also,..

and friedman live its not so good,

  • Well Broderick didn't write these solos and is not very similar to Marty so you shouldn't expect him to achieve orgasm over these solos that he didn't write. Plus, Broderick is just a very technical guy who plays the way he plays, so if you're just going to to try making an obvious point that Friedman is amazing, I would just suggest you to stop.

  • I'm not saying anything bad about Broderick. I just said his playing doesn't suit Megadeth the way Friedman did. I have said Broderick is an amazing player on several occasions. He just doesn't have Marty's finesse. Once again, he fucks the guitar, Marty Friedman makes love to it. If you suggest me to stop, then I suggest you to fuck yourself. Everyone has the right to their opinion. That's mine. I'll make it if I fuckin' please.

  • dont forget marty is a fag now! He is into j-pop not metal! chris is into metal and they are different styles! chris solos on endgame are amazing. Marty ruined megadeth after countdown!

  • Max Norman, the producer, had Megadeth playing what they played after Countdown. Marty Friedman just liked it more than the rest. You gotta credit Dave Mustaine for allowing it too though. Marty's newest album is pretty fuckin' heavy. Maybe you should check it out before making such a quick, and probably uneducated judgement.

  • Well I'm not interested in Marty anymore, Marty is the past Chris is the future. But Dave wanted to keep Marty he kept thinking if Marty was gonna change and what you know? he did after 15 years.

  • I agree with you to a certain extent. But just wait. Dave will fuck up and suppress Chris to the point where he will quit too. Don't think I'm a Megadeth hater I have all their stuff. But Dave Mustaine is a huge problem in Megadeth. Too bad he IS Megadeth. Seriously, you oughta check out Friedman's solo stuff. He still puts Broderick to shame. He plays with feeling instead of just "technically correct."

  • Dude they're 2 different styles you can't compare chris and Marty. Marty play with his feeling and Chris plays with his feeling, That's why I like Megadeth all their guitarist had different styles. Yes and I agree about Dave pushing Chris to the edge, but Dave has change a lot I mean Shawn Drover haven't left.

  • I agree you can't compare them to a certain extent. I'll always be a Marty fan. That's what I heard when I was like 12 and Rust in Peace. That album will still never be topped. I don't think Chris' style will ever do any of Marty's songs justice. But, like you said, they're 2 different styles. You're the first person to have the balls and brains to give a real reason to like Chris besides "He is so fast." Fast doesn't mean shit. Dave will always push his guitarists away. It's an ego thing.

  • Yup I also think Rust in Peace can't be topped, what the band was feeling there probably will never happen again.

  • Damn straight.

  • Ok, it seems "someone" disagrees with my opinion. Too bad their balls aren't big enough to leave a comment. At least they pushed the "thumbs down" button to show they mean business. REAL Megadeth fans step forward. Broderick or Friedman.

  • lmfao wtf dude. its the internet

  • What's your point. I was just asking opinions. Broderick or Friedman.

  • his take is different no strain..too easy for him

  • Just because playing this solo is a joke for him and he doesn't really need to strain to play it doesn't make him a robot.

You're just one of those people who thinks bending a note sustaining and vibrato is feeling. Speed is a totally different feeling. Shred is a total different genre. If you want to listen to bends, go listen to Friedman or blues.

  • Really, you think Friedman uses vibrato.

    A: He doesn't use a whammy bar.

B: He rarely uses bending vibrato.

He does bend strings in some unique fashions sometimes. Have you ever played a guitar. Broderick does the whole "crazy 80s vibrato at the end of most of his solos. You're telling me what I like based on one player. You don't know me. I'm just saying ask anyone. I didn't say anything bad about Broderick. He just doesn't have the finesse Friedman does. HE NEVER WILL!

  • Did I say he uses a whammy bar? And you just completely destroyed your credibility by saying Marty doesn't bend and vibrato. That's basically all he does.

  • Bending and vibrato are 2 different things. Listen to the solo to Tornado of Souls. 1/4 step bends, no vibrato. There is a difference. Poison Was the Cure. 1/4 and 1/2 step bends, not much vibrato if any. Fuck off fanboy. Quit stalking me unless you wanna do it you fucktard.

  • Marty looked like he was putting his heart and soul into every note. Where as Broderick looks like hes just doing his job.

  • Exactly!!!

  • In my opinion, after Marty Chris is the best guitarist of Megadeth.

  • the guy doesn't even look like he's trying that hard. He also seems to fit in much better than drover did.

  • its not that amazing an attempt at playing Marty's solo. Doesn't have the feel and its not a technically spot on transcription. But he's a great player.

  • wow. its note for note. geeez. and brilliantly played too. he;s perfect for megadeth.

  • Try learning a whole fucking discography of lead guitar on a time limit.

  • Its my opinion, I was expecting better. For me he is a showy tapper and sweeper, not a true great like marty. A good session player. FYI i have had to learn a whole discography in a time limit, i know exactly how much work goes in.

  • Yeah no shit, you don't think Friedman did it too. You also don't think Broderick jammed to Megadeth in years prior. Think like a musician, not a dumbass.

  • Chris is like the man that has won in life!

  • Nice job
