  • let me say that the cubans do not do hatian music justice they may imitate it a lil somewhat but if you wanna listen to hatian/dominican music go to the island of ispaniola aka Haiti/dominican rep...

  • i think haiti and cuba are the only place in the caribbean who havent reject their african heritage

  • @JAmaicaHAitiShawty no not true sorry to inform you it may look that way but all the Caribbean countries and even central and south american countries never reject their african ancestry all you have to do is look for the culture because its not as main stream in many other countries im dominican and we have undeniable african heritage its just not main stream and over exploited its in the back ground kept as a treasure like it should be

  • Why some cuban people on this board is rejecting Haiti and trying to embrace china or american culture. I love cuba and i have never been there, What's wron with loving your culture, it does not have to be a large population a small group can make a difference in culture and history.

  • I Know that because mu grand mother lived in Manzanillo,Oriente since she was child almost all her life, and she born in 1905 and die,in2002,and she say that the haitian people were living in the mountain far from the city, they don had any relationship, with the cuban people, they were very different to cuban people, and they remain far of the cuban population.

  • The people in cuba that speaking Kreole language are discendant from haiti people, they are not fom cuba of all,no offense, the mambo has little mix with american music, not haiti music, that its logic, because we are from USA for 60 years, the haiti people, they are very small community in cuba, and, that time they don't have to much comunication with the cuban people.

  • totally right from guantamo mountains you can see the lights of haiti ,Im cuban

  • im cuban and in cuba in the oriental side of the island there are many peolpe who are not haitians and speak Kreyol and the music of that part of the island have also a big haitian influence and in our food is also haitian influence ,and i do know a lotttttt of people who speaks ,sing and dance in the same way they didi in hayti im one of them

  • es la verdad.

  • Ah and the community from china is more bit than haiti, and from them, yes cuba, has some, influence,ej in the carnival, because, its use the bugle from china, and in some food etc,in my life in cuba never know, any haitian people,I know that the are,but not to moch, and they recive the same benefit from goberment that cuban people.

  • The cuban don't know the kreyol,we espeack spanish, beside, english, france, and other langguaje, don't lier more, only the haitian people in cuba speack krayol because its, according that you are colony from france,we has to do with other origen,no try of confuse the people, beside we are more close to jamaica than haiti, you are more close to dominican republic, not cuba, what you pretend, you respec more our culture and study more OK.

  • Beside we have other small commmunity from china too,so what.we don't have nothing to do,with the haitian music, only that we are two island the caribbean sea.they, their community its from africa and colony for france, and cuba, has some people from africa, colony for spain and after had influence for usa, beside that we are not all from africa the 65,5%is european, and amall community from haiti ,beside china too,so the infuence in our music is european basically.

  • We have our own culture don mix more the thing,is true that we are common in caribbean island, but , we are from different colony,we have different history too,I know that in cuba the are one small community from haiti, but it is small conmunity nothing bit influence, over our music OK

  • Nothing to do son and mambo, with the haitian music, the mambo has to do with cuban music and american music, influence, and son is very, very cuban music,no mix the thing

  • Haitian music hat influence Cuban music, Gaga come from Haitian music. Changüi , Tumba francesa und Cocoye are from Haitian pattern.

  • i love it i am so proud of my cuba

    we have a beautiful culture

also haiti have an amazing culture also.

  • Great video...and I love the comments before mine. I've learned something today!!

  • African immigrant to Cuba..African period!..Haiti is not Africa just a strong part of the motherland..the only part that tries to carry on the mother land tradition in the Caribbean.

  • Since the Haitian Revolution, there has been peroids of time where haitians have immigrated to Cuba and this where they get this haitian dance. Son and Mambo where created because of the marriage of Haitian and Cuban music. And if you pay attention to the language they are speaking you will see that they are speaking in Haitian creole and not spanish or Lucumi or Yoruba. therefore this a Haitian derived dance and rhythm. Watch Calle 54; dicusses this in detail.

  • @illdreadz they're singing in haitian creole. It's only due to the haitian migration in cuba that the style persists in cuba.

Cuban culture is heavily influence by spain, where as haitian culture isn't influence by the former slave masters. It is as pure as it gets.

  • this is haitian dance? haitian immigrants to cuba...
