  • I always learned, if you're banging with anything bigger then 2 12s, then you need to make a amp rack, you're going to fuck your amps up.

  • Them BTL 18's a mother fucka.

  • use thick velcro itll work

  • lol makes you wonder what the rest of the car is like.carfax reports should keep track of weather or not the car has ever had a system

  • thats a mean ass fuckin truck man

  • @zipzent50 thanx alot my friend

  • theres a reason it says in the instructions to never mounts directly to the box! the vibration will end up fucking up the amp. or, it will add preasur points on the box and shit like that happens! also with subs like that you need more suport inside! but im glad you got a new set up! love the sub tho

  • yo amps are 2 strong thats y

  • its not good for the amp to be on the box its self sooner or later its goin to break the amp

  • that's why you don't strap your amps to your box your amps will not last long rattling you need to make a amp shelf

  • same happened to my box....and i have 1 15 inch Kicker Solobaric L7.....I ended up just mounting the amps seperately -- flatly on the trunk floor.

good luck on yours; post videos

  • @aa2398a thanx for the comment man i ended up tearing this box out and building my own not sure if you seen the vids but its setup alot better now

  • Drywall screws are for drywall. When screwing into wood, use wood screws. In a high vibration circumstance, use a high quality wood screw or bolt. GRK makes quality lines of these products.

  • @JimiKiwi tell that to the hacks that built this box, never again will i use a stereo shop,if you look into my newer videos i built my own box and its much better

  • @jonmanch3st3r

I'm with ya Bro. I hope I didn't sound condescending. I was just trying to puke out some info for the folks who might be researching and didn't know better.

  • @JimiKiwi its all good man over the internet it can be verry easy to miss read a persons comment and take it a different way then it was intended

  • And soon his car will fall apart from all the bass...

  • That's why your not supposed to mount your amp to the box especially in high power setups like that.

  • how many db can this hit?

  • thats why yu pt them on top dumb ass

  • blockbeata09, look em up thats his youtube acct name, he builds some of the best boxes ive seen and heard

  • u need a jd custom enclosure box, look em up on fb

  • bolts with washers on the inside of the box maybe the solution

  • I know bro, this just happend to be the first vid on clicked on ha. At first i was like wtf is this guy doing. Now i see that you definitely know whats up!

  • @Wickedgmc thanx alot man,it was off to a rough start but it has deff come a long way since then....thanx for checkin out my vids there will be alot more coming over the winter

  • Double up the top plate man..

  • @Wickedgmc i have rebuilt the box myself this time...if you have time its shown in my newer vids

  • not good to put ur amps attached to the box it will make them last less

  • be sick as hell if you got the amps to sit flush with the barn doors.. but this is just nuts... it shows what a good set up could do to a entry level box... feel bad for those guys and whoever built it for ya... cause thats just weak

  • @Dizzles i was going to mount the amps like that but they were 2 long 2 fit on the doors so i just went with how they are shown here...it was a good learning experience for me now i just do it all myself so i know its done right

  • @jonmanch3st3r ye its a blast to do it on ya own. im just a beginner my latest headache is wiring up 3 10s to a delco system in a 2000 deville. i got the wrong LOC and i dont feel like buyin another one but ye sucks that the amps are too long but either way that set up looks sick if it werent for that box im checkin out ya vids on the newer stuff.

  • MDF! particle board is your problem why things are loose. it flexes way too much and resonates like shit.

  • @skeet2deet ya the shop that built this box was a joke...i built my own box out of mdf if you look at my new videos

  • @jonmanch3st3r looks much better. never trust anyones work but your own is what i go by

  • @skeet2deet Yeah lol I think some stereo shop would not hook it up right so you can go back & pay them o fix it. I think that's how it is these days... All about money !!!!

  • chris moltisanti's rig

  • @0hm4g3 im not sure if you mean he ows the truck...if thats what you meant you are wrong i bought this truck stock and did all the work myself except for the mistake of having the box built by an audio shop

  • u should make an amp rack with enough room to put ur caps on there my DB drive had the same thing and i was only running 2000 watts to it and it fuked the box up

  • @210survivor this was a long time ago,if you have time look at my new vids and tell me what you think

  • dude golden rule never put your amps or cap on the box!!! your amps falling is your worst worry.thin of the damage are you doing to the inside of your amps!

  • @jonmanch3st3r Thats good dude, and partical board thats terrible.

  • I can't believe they didn't double the baffle!

  • @REXXXD2 they didnt double anything on the box and they used particleboard.....it was a joke of a box,im glad i decided to build my own and tear this thing out

  • thats why you mount it in the car or make a panel for it all never put stuff on the box

  • were did you buy yours from? what website inbox me please

  • put some neoprene washers behind it to absorb the vibration...a drwall screw will only so much...lol

  • @mikgto68 i made the mistake of paying a shop to build me this box,it was a piece of shit so i tore it out and built my own box,if you ever have time check out my build vids and let me know what you think of the new box and setup

  • @jonmanch3st3r yea i subscribed to your page...im gonna check them out!!

  • keep ur bass tight keep ur shit tight my friend

  • Damn nigga you need to lay off the monkey bars and let your hands heal.

  • @Fuckskinnybitches thats lifting weights my friend,at this time it was my life to lift

  • @jonmanch3st3r no thats just a real man's hands!!!

  • Fi BTL are great

  • yet another reason you DONT mount amps or capacitors on the box.

  • yo you speak spanish ? man

  • @xfucktheworld831 no just english

  • how big is that sub you go in there?

  • @Drsk8te02 18 inches

  • i just took my btl out today and 3 of the screws wher broken so your not alone lol

  • @masongalbraith gotta love it man, things are insane

  • You should never mount amps to your box. The amp falling off is of least concern. You could shake parts loose inside the amp thereby rendering it useless. Yankees geez.

  • capacitas?

  • @GlowRaver800 faggot???sorry im not as perfect as you

  • @jonmanch3st3r oh its cool

  • bax

  • i wouldnt be complaining. you must have something hooked up right if only 1 sub is destroying your box!

  • @miketheredneckable haha true, the guy who built my box had no idea what he was doing and i got screwed...if you go to my new vids i built my own box that is doing great.....search cure for kids car show its my best bass video to date

  • @jonmanch3st3r hahaha i know how you feel. i had my stepdad build me a box over a weekend in my f150 and he used cheap ply-would from homedepot when he knew i had the high quality would made for the job in the back of my truck, but i had a bed cover and it was locked. could have called me but he decided it would be best he pay for the wood himself, and i get my money back. just for kicks, i hooked up my orion hcca 15.2 and before 30 sec.'s passed he realized he should have called me for the key

  • that seems like a perfect vehicle for a wall box enclosure :)

  • @bradrsavidge i have thought about it many times but i really dont want to lose my back window...if you look at my newer videos i built my own box for 2 18s and its alot better

  • Are you from massachusetts? U sound like ur from boston LOL. " It's breakin the screws outta my bax!!!!"

  • @burriesci20 u got it man im about 20 mins away from boston

  • @jonmanch3st3r yo dude im from norwood.. do you think by any chance i can hear this system?

  • @burriesci20 hahahahaha get in the cer

  • wow imagine that you used drywall screws!!!!! never ever use screws on a box!!!!!!! bracing and wood glue only!!! use a brad nailer and clamps to hold untill glue is dry!

  • @ghettobraden i didnt build the box smart guy

  • wow ur retarded. nice amps nice subs. horrible amp mounting place.

  • @conskater77 thanx 4 the support man

  • never mount amps on sub box :(

  • This happened with a 15" Q in a prefab box, straight cracked the side wall down the middle halfway the width of the board..blew the carpet off the side..blew out the terminals for the speaker wire..

    Fi owns...IT OWNS!

  • @MafFilms hell ya man fi subs slam like nothing i have ever herd b4

  • Bad Fucken Ass

  • dide u use mdf? pre drille ur holes?

  • @perezja948 i didnt build the box a car audio shop did,the screws they used were regular wood screws and they break from the bass,so when i built my new box which you can see vids that i have up now i used 1/4 thick screws and they work great

  • I have to disagree. The car audio shop thats in my town builds nothing but awesome stuff. that i can vouch for

  • @jonmanch3str

it depends on who you get to do your shit

  • those are sweet amps

  • really love how the truck looks with those rims :D

  • im glad you got a bit more smarter and went away with this design

  • Put Glue in ALLL

  • thats why u dont mount ur amps to your box you fucking dipshit, damn i hate dumbass people

  • @Charlz44 suck my big fat cock faggot

  • @jonmanch3st3r :) im just sayin u might not want to do that considering that shit happens and it ruins amps cause of the vibrations :) ur welcome :)

  • you know i'm pretty sure that the people building the amps obviously know of what their product is going to be used for and obviously going to get incredible vibrations, maybe if you running a shitty no name or outdated amp i can understand amp failure, but if your amp fails it just bad luck or your not doing something right. i totaly agree with you

  • y the fuck would u screw it to ur box ne ways especially with a fuckin fi btl 18 thats just comman sence

  • Stop using drywall screws.. lol

  • @Fathercoffee this iw what happens when you have a car audio shop build your box....if you check out my new vids i built a new box myself and its holding up great

  • Ok you win its just fine, if youre braking wood screws with vibrations you definitely wont soldering ;)

  • OMG i hate when the people try to be smartass and get all overdefencive, it happens a lot (it happened to me and many of my friends) the vibrations of the box just slowly brake the soldering on certain components (pre amp mostly)

IDK how you havent heard that before (but then again if you think it broke wod screws!!!)

BTW i THINK meades amp are under his seats

  • @MiragEdoz na man 3 of his amps are on the box this setup, last setup 2 were...all are fine...my 2 are still great as well, whoes trying to be a smartass?

  • @jonmanch3st3r I think Steve Meade has a amp rack on the outside of his box(it looks like it's mounted on the box, but it is on a second piece of wood)... BTW, your setup looks nice, but I think your better off building a amp rack.lol

  • Its quite common that the amps that are screwed to the sub box get broken couse vibrating brakes the soldering inside the amp

  • @MiragEdoz i guess me and steve meade are lucky all these years then with nolthing happening to ours??show me a case where it has happened

  • @jonmanch3st3r It is actually one of the leading causes of amplifier failure, next to improper wiring and use. Steve Meade doesn't have his directly mounted to his box, he has them mounted separately. It does vibrate the shit out of the internals, far beyond their purpose.

  • @MiragEdoz very true , and everybody is doing it lol

  • why mount equipment onto your box? you're gonna get cold joints at some point. All the vibrations are gonna loosen up components inside your equipment just like they've loosened up your cap and amps....

  • @fullbaxx thats a myth man...i have had my amps on the back of my box for over a year because space is such an issue in my little 2 door tahoe...my new box is alot stronger then this box ho if you get time check it out im sure you will approve

  • @jonmanch3st3r I did check it out. Nice job! Why did u go for the btl over say a solo x?

  • @fullbaxx good question...i was looking into the solo x at the start of my build and at 800 a sub i was like fuuuuuck that...i also read up that they werent verry good subs for music only test tones...i mean there arent many videos with them up on here but btl's are eveywhere so i went with the safe bet and im more then happy with the result...i love my btl's they are insaine

  • why wouldn't u use bolts to begin with?!

  • @JUMBOpin i made the mistake of having a car audio shop build my first box and they fucked me...if you check my newer vids you will see the difference in quality of the new box that i built myself

  • Doing work man,,brace the hell out of that box!

  • @baggedz71 this was last years junk box that a car audio shop had built me,in my new vids i built my own box and its alot stronger and 6db louder with a new box alone....thanx 4 watchin

  • first mistake... sheetrock screws. they suck. i normally use self tapping deck screws. i haven't ever had a problem with them. just my opinion.

  • @redtibby01 actually my first mistake was having a car audio shop build my box,but if you check out my newer vids i have my new box build and it is 100 times better then this shitty box

  • @jonmanch3st3r very true about having a car audio shop build it for you. They charge an arm and a leg for poor quality.. At least that is what it's like where I'm from. I been building boxes for 10 years and have not once went to a shop to have one made.

  • u have a CAP?!?!?!?!?! wow...hahahhahahahahahaha

  • @bigdana79 im not even gonna stoop down to your level, the cap was there for show and wasent even wired up it was taken off after the video was shot and givien away in a contest i had on yt

  • MDF

  • @pattman96 check out the new box in my recent vids lemme kno wut ya think

  • how much did u spent on wood to make that enclosure?

  • @fabiuh991 this box was built by a car audio store and is junk, check out my new box that i built i paid under 200 for all my supplies...wood,screws,liquid nails, and spray covering

  • galvanized, square bit screws will not break and they can handle the most torque

  • @taylorcola ya that what i get for having a car audio shop build me a box,i u have free time check out my ne vids i built a new box that 10x better

  • They do bro remember car amp have weak solder points where small capacitors solder will eventually get loss and it has happen before bro, but you are right if you got your set up nice and really tight might not happen at all for sure. I mean not all car amp but maybe one or two models have that problem dude.

  • your really need double stacked MDF board. 1.5" will do. I had the same problem

  • @detboy600 check out my new box and lemme kno wut ya think man

  • Hey my recommendation, don’t put the amplifiers on the sides of the woofers box because the extreme vibrations will lose all the capasitors inside the amplifiers and they will fail, build a amplifier rack and that will keep them secure bro, if you don’t belive me ask EXOcontralto he knows what I’m talking about bro.

  • @vargasmongo wuts up man,in my tahoe space is verry limited and the back of the box is the only place 4 them, but if you check out my new vids i have a totally diff setup that has zero flex and my amps have been fine for the last year,i kno exactly what im doing and im sure you seen steve meades videos he has 3 of his amps mounted on his box

  • @vargasmongo

...errrm, what kind of amps you talkin about ..lego?? caps arent affected that easily otherwise just putting one into a car would cause it to fail from shock and vibrations on the road, if your enclosure is built well there should be hardly any vibration to cause +db losses, while i dont recommend amps on a box for grounding and emergency purposes , theres no problem whatsover from mounting your amps on your enclosure. caps die from leakages and *drying* all caused in time.

  • isn't it bad to mount that stuff to your box? doesn't it damage the amps and shit?

  • @LordPS3 this video is from about a year ago alot has changed, check out the new box i have installed,on this old box i had no choice because of space and the desigin i wanted....but i never had any problems with it at all this way

  • @jonmanch3st3r the i might have just had a weak amp. i had a MTX JH600 mounted to a box with 2 10"s and the damn thing broke

  • Hey man if I were you I would mount the two amps under the back seat. But I like the way you have them mounted. Love the tahoe I got a dark brown 99 z71 model love yours I need a bad ass system like yours.

  • @no1ife5 ya i thought of that but the amps are 2 big and the seats wouldnt fold down if i did....check out my new box vids, still not done yet but its going to be 100 time better

  • I would avoid mounting stuff on the box, it could break the small electrical components in the capacitors and amps

    :D

But this was awhile ago so I imagine you know that now :)

  • @ExpertOfSound at the time space was a huge issue and there was not other place to mount them, they were like that for 7 months with no problems tho,on my new box they are also mounted on the box with no problems for 5 months now...if you can show me a case where it happend then i will be worried...not just ur buddies mothers father dog fishes owners amp broke from it...lol

  • @jonmanch3st3r

LOL yea, I haven't seen it or anything. but it makes sense though... I mean it has to be doing SOMETHING to the electronic stuff inside there right?

Here is an example: turn on your subwoofer, put it at like 1 volume, just so that it is barely up... then carefully press your forehead against the box.

I did that by accident awhile ago, and I felt like I was going to pass out, turns out I almost got a concussion from it... it was barely turned up!

So how could an amp handle that!?

  • @ExpertOfSound good question ask my amp that : )...its done it for a year and is still kicking and its a p.o.s performance teknique nvm if i had a better brand

  • @jonmanch3st3r

Ah alright, I had an idea while I was out for 2 hours or so... maybe certain models of amplifiers have certain parts that are affected by it more, like if they make it with a loose wire or something that could be shaken out by heavy vibrations...

or it is just a myth :)

  • lol them puny screws. no wonder they broke. nice system

  • @dafutureiznow32 tell me about it man, thats what i got for trusting a stereo store to build my box...if you check my new vids it show the build process of my new box...wayyyy better

  • I have always wondered why a box will break apart much easier than a speaker cone will. Cones are never as rigid as the wood of a box.... guess it is to do with resonance frequency or something.

  • @aardvark9100 it also had alot to do with the horrible box the audio store built for me.....but i get what your saying subs take a beating its insaine,my new bow is holding together really strong now that its mdf

  • @jonmanch3st3r

    Lol ran out of space,

I am not challenging you about it, im just wondering myself... I have heard people say that it broke their amp in some way or another... and it just sounds like it could happen easily! when I almost got a concussion, it was my 10" subwoofer in my room when I leaned my head on it to see something under my desk... so imagine an 18" 0_0

You know what I mean!? :D

  • @ExpertOfSound you see the box does it look like i have room to play with...zero space....also i wanted my back seat and to be able to see out the back window

  • @aardvark9100

The box can break easier because it might have weak screws, or weak points in the junky wood... but a speaker cone has no or very few weak points, especially a well balanced, well made speaker like an Fi BTL :)

And other things like resonant frequencies like you said.

    :D

  • What kind of amps are those?

  • @ROByoCAY they are 5000 watt performance teknique amps....they are ok but the btls need more power,im going to be running kicker 2500.1's soon

  • lol "they were tight"

  • Is that box meant for 4 18s?

  • @funnyface680 yea but this box is long gone now,i made the mistake of having a car audio shop build this box and it was horrible, now i made my own box which you can see in my newer vids

  • @jonmanch3st3r Oh i see, ill check out the new box and subscrible :)

  • I had those screws. used them on my 15's box and they broke too! those screws must be either cheap or jus not the ones to use on sub boxes

  • @Terdy515 hell ya i learnt my lesson with wood screws,in my new vids it shows the screws i used on my new box...much bigger and stronger

  • hey are you in manchester nh by any chance...im in wolfeboro

  • @1JasonMraz no man im from a city called fall river in mass....about an hour ride from nh

  • You really don't need capacitor if you have a multi-battery system because batteries are capacitors themselves. ... also, if you are building a box and adding more support inside with 2x4s you will be taking away volume inside the box. I hope you did your math already otherwise, it can change the tune of your box. Also have you considered creating amp racks to protect your amp from shaking box syndrome. Good luck on the rest of your build.

  • @jromer1 the caps were left over from a small build so i had them mounted 4 looks for a short period of time but never wired them up and were pulled out soon after,as for the adding of 2x4's it really didnt make a difference in sound and wasent a concern of mine....lastly there is no room for an amp rack in a 2 door tahoe if i want my back seat in the truck so the amps will always be mounted on the box..its been this way for a year with not 1 problem

  • your gonna mess up your amps by mouting them on the box man.put them under the seats if u can or mount them behind your back seat if u can

  • @loudkickerman its been over a year now with them on the box and still no problems, the amps are huge and have no place else to fit, under seats or behind....space is limited in the 2door tahoes.......this box is gone anyways and now its getting re-build and tons of progress vids will be posted

  • @jonmanch3st3r oh alrite thats koo i guess u had better luck than me lol i busted 2 amps within a half a year by mouting them on my box. i have one 18'' as well its the btl got it fully loaded dual 2 ohm in a 8cuft ported box tuned at 33 herts and man this is curentl my loudest set-up i ever had!im pushing it with a 2500 watts rms monoblock. it pounds sweet!

  • im looking atgetting an fi btl 18, they worth it? or is there a better bang for your buck?

  • @cryofthebrave1369 well every1 has there own opinoin but mine is that they are insaine subs and are totally worth it...i love my btls

  • you shouldnt mount ANYTHING to the box ideally

  • @raj1vad ok so tell me should i mount it on the box or under the truck...because in a 2 door thats my options.......box it is

  • @jonmanch3st3r

i say behind the rear most seats somewhere upright, maybe a amp rack?

  • @raj1vad i wish i had the room to do so,as of now there back on the box with no problems....but i did raise my box with 2by4's and think i will be placing the amps under there now,if you get bored shek out the newer vids of the new box build

  • dude dont mount your amps to your box !!!!!!!!! duh !! i wonder how long the soldered parts on the circuitboard will be attached??????? not too long!!!!!! you will never get your system done because things will keep on falling apart! allmost time for some new amps!!!!

mabey tryin to build a 2-3 layer box with all internal bracing!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheCustomcarz2007 ya this is an old video, had a audio shop build my box and they hacked it up..if you watch my new vids its all ripped out and im rebuilding now...i never had a problem with the amps on the box and neither has the big guy steve meade, with the 2 doors space is scarce so the amps must be mounted on the box unless i do away with the back seat which i decided not to do

  • use screws that go through the box and but a bolt at the end and tighten it alot lol

  • @dwtnigg thanx man if you check my new vid of the box tear down you will see that i upgraded to
