Unlike The Bee Gees, Olivia Newton-John, Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman and even bloody Pharlap, this bloke was actually born in Australia, a great, great, talent who went far too soon.
Peter Allen clearly so magnificent live & this great clip captures the genius of that thrilling experience...best all around soulful performer ever on stage and great songwriter...you are loved and missed Peter!!!
excelentisimo soy de El Salvador y me recuerda cuando estudiaba alla por 1976 octavo grado, fabulosa la musica de peter allen y en especiual the more I see you
I was brought up with Transvestites in the 70's, 80's (not that Peter was). My mum & dad were about the first to have a 'le gay show' which featured Peters songs. Lucky for me, it was a massive success & I went to one of the best schools in Australia (as a boarder), on the back of his brilliance. Hooooooray Peter xxx
I love this song. One of my all time favorite romantic ballads. And the late great Peter Allen gives a fantastic rendition of it here. I don't much about him, other than he was Judy Garland's protoge, Liza Minelli's first husband and the subject of Broadway musical ("The Boy from Oz"). What an original talent he was....how sad he's no longer with us. Thanks for sharing this fascinating clip with us! :)
I didn't realize he wrote all these songs, I'm so surprised. Wonderful, now that I hear them by him they sound just right. Thanks so much for posting.
"The More I See You" was written by Harry Warren/ Mack Gordon in 1945. "As Time Goes By" was written by Herman Hupfield in 1931. They are old standards. Peter Allen was a great singer, composer, and entertainer in his own right though. "Bi-Coastal" is a well written and produced tune. I didn't understand the lyrics until much later though. If anybody has the "Solid Gold" version of that,Iwouldbe ever so grateful!

He sang the songs on 2DayFM radio station in 1980 approx. It was a recording of his Hilton Dinner Show that they replayed on air to Sydney audiences.
