a $3million grant to run the Tribute ran out of money last year, and in 2010 there will be no more tribute in light. [Montefinise Angela, "Tribute in Light due to dim out", new york post, september 27, 2009.]
In truth the color of light emitted by the fixtures used to form the "towers" is measured in degrees kelvin and is 5800 degrees the same as sunlight it is the photographic equipment and angles of the pictures which give it a blue hue. If you notice, the straight up shot clearly reads as "white light". Red white and blue "patriotic" colors really have no place in memorializing the tragedy of 9-11 which killed people of many nations not just "Americans" besides the fact that it would look cheap.

i'm surprised they did not do red white and blue. simply using blue is like testing some type of LED. it's not an american color. red white and blue are.
sometimes a simple tribute is the best tribute. and i know that there are 2 towers made of many lights, but if u made those many colors alternate, it just wouldn't look that good.

Having a red white and blue flashing memorial would have looked really cheap and crappy though.

yes i agree. my thought is best left as a thought and not reality. i guess blue can also symbolize peace.
