  • dat me a talk bout "control yuh tempa"..... this music fits my mode right about now :D

  • its a Jamican Music, not any.

  • its a Jamican Music, noy any.

  • This is Skatalites with Bob Marley!

Skatalites was a suppporting band from Studio One Recs!

  • What the Ras!!This is The Wailing Wailers,Bob Marley,Peter Tosh before they became Bob Marley and The wailers.Sort it out,Mr.Informer!

  • This is the wailers accompanied by the skatalites. Not mentioning the wailers in the title is like not mentioning Michael jackson on "beat it"

  • @chauncy817 it's actually kinda not, really. It's an oversight, but it's not that big of an oversight. There are a lot of people who are more fans of ska than they are of reggae, and vice versa. And they all like to say their side of the McBLT is the tastier and more important side, and everybody always wants to correct everybody and cloud the issue with facts that, while true, are often stacked together to try to make themselves appear more knowlegeable and therefore more "right"...

  • Respond to this video... ...but it really is not worth making this big of a stink about. It just is not. Yes, saying its a skatalites tune without mentioning the wailers is kind of ignoring the whole story, and maybe a little closed-minded. But being super offended by it and talking trash on the skatalites and trying to downplay their importance in the history of Jamaican music is just infighting, and its absurd. Chauncy, I'm not saying that's you, but I mean c'mon. Let's not do this.

  • this IS bob........

  • 4 people where fondled by cattle

  • simmer doooown !

  • this is wailing wailers..

  • lol "like u never did before"

  • now this is more like it!

  • brilliant. i cant believe all these people arguing on here . Ska is so great it makes me think of the flamingo the tiles the twenties the alphabet etc great times great clothes greta music , great dubbies. we had ska rock steady and reggae all good stop arguing and move and sing.

  • this aint the skatalites... its bob marley !

  • On my top 10 songs in all genres...classic. You can't help but move to this!

  • Sooooo good :)

  • WHY do people have to argue about music!!!!!! Its BLOODY MUSIC nuttin a g'wan, just take the stress out your head n dance!!!!

    GRANNY

  • thats marley singing. how about stop sharing wrong info and change the title?

  • please change the title, this is the Wailers version of Simmer Down not Skatalites

  • @rearly62 the band is the Skatalites, the vocal group Wailers.

  • @octaviano1296 the backing band in this case is irrelevant, the original recording is credited to The Wailers, this is not a different version hence why the title needs to be amended, it is simply a ploy to get more views to the video by misrepresenting who the tune is by.

  • @rearly62 This is not worth getting upset over. Yes, the Wailers did write this tune. But in 1964, the Wailers were more a vocal group, not a band. This song became part of the repertoire of the Skatalites, with or without the Wailers singing it, and this recording is as much a part of their legacy is it is part of the legacy of the Wailers. It's not an issue of people taking credit for something or stealing fame. It's just that the nature of the Wailers and the Skatalites were different...

  • @rearly62 ...especially depending on what iteration of either band you're talking about. The Skatalites were a studio and dance band. The Wailers were a vocal group that turned into a reggae band (by and by). In the early 60's, vocal groups often carried their own identity, but relied on instrumental bands to back them up. In this case, though, the team-up of the Skatalites, through the perspective of its day, was like having the best vocal group with the best band.

  • TheDp321 ,,,, I dont care if you like Bob marley or reggae, Its not my business,

I only share my feelings and thoughts by commenting about what Is going to inspire people or protect them.

    Reggae is not a threat.

If you feel the love, its up to you.

I understand why you say that it is retarded, because it does require you to slow youre mind. and not think, just relax, just feel.

and no im not gonna pass on bad feelings or intentions.

I have no expectations of you ,its the only way to Love

  • This song is so unbelievably amazing.

  • totally love this song-instant happy tune!

  • That is Bob's voice, obviously.

and sure, it's the skatelites song.

  • @Naturalhombre i hate bob marley

reggae is the retarded step brother of ska

  • @TheDp321 Hahahahaha!!!! Couldn't have put it better

  • @TheDp321 raggae is ska, and ska is reggae. only difference is the speed and style of vocals.

  • @baphomet1978 That's a gross oversimplification.

  • Comment removed

  • @Sactreats not at all, dont believe me? look it up "Music historians typically divide the history of ska into three periods: the original Jamaican scene of the 1960s (First Wave), the English 2 Tone ska revival of the late 1970s (Second Wave) and the third wave ska movement, which started in the 1980s (Third Wave) and rose to popularity in the US in the 1990s"

  • @baphomet1978 how does that prove that reggae is just slowed down ska? My point had nothing to do with the history of ska music. My point was that you can't just play a 1965 Dragonaries 45 at 33rpm and it suddenly sounds like reggae. Reggae and Ska have a close relationship, obviously. But it's not as simple as slowing it down and singing differently. The differences are much more subtle and sophisticated.

  • @Sactreats well the basic things are the same, the 3/4 beat, focus on the upbeat. one begat the other and then the other. its not the exact same thing, but they are extremely similar. thats why ska is called 2nd and 3rd wave reggae.

  • @baphomet1978 To be honest, ska is older than reggae, so it won't be 2nd or 3rd wave... In fact, ska laid the roots for rocksteady and that laid the roots voor reggae. So in fact reggae is third wave ska. And ska on its own comes from rythm and blues, which originated from a mixture of jazz, blues and gospel, which on their turn originated from the crossing of African tribal music with the western musical system. Not to be pedantic... ;-)

  • its wailers song

  • nothing will ever better the origanal ska

  • This is the wailing wailers from 1964

  • This isn't bob Marleys songs it the Wailers first single and bob Marley was in the Wailers. But the skatalites did work with the wailers becuase the worked with clement dodd who owned studio one and recorded this song first as he found the wailers!!

  • @MrJerrylee07 wrong. This is Bob Marley and the Skatalites. He used to play with them for a bit. 7 people are clearly morons.

  • @MrJerrylee07 Skatalites were the studio band on this track, credited to both The wailer and The Skatalites.

  • @MrJerrylee07 well actually, it`s the Wailers, backed by the Skatalites :)

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJerrylee07 ..@ mr jerry sorry,,,all 26 plus u are wrong, zepareace is 100% right...one love..

  • isnt that bob marley singing with the skatetiles or bob marley and the whalers cuz i have an album with bob marley singing that its a studio one classic album, but anyway its rocks good tune!

  • I GOT THIS ON A GREEN WAX! STUDIO ONE BLANK!

  • thats bob marley use fuckin retards

  • @89adzer

The wailing wailers and Skatalites, Studio 1's house band. Do some research man.

  • @zepareace with Scratch at the controls, best stuff the Wailers did if you ask me

  • @zepareace Thanx brother thats wat i was gonna say in addition to backing the Wailing Wailers on most of there stuff from (62 thu 67),FOREVER LOVING JAH PRAISE TO HIS MOST HIGH !!!

  • @zepareace Most people would rather spout off and act smart instead of actually learning a thing or two. You are entirely correct and thanks for bringing it up. The Skatalites were the house band for Studio 1 and were on nearly every early ska/rock steady release there is. Props. Respect.

  • @89adzer

i didnt see your comment thats what i said but i was a little nice lmao

  • marley never should have reggaed! from hypercool he went into awful!

  • yeah this is bob marley and the wailers in their ska days not skatalites.

  • @bluntobjct : The singer is Bob Marley, the band is the Skatalites. It's a very well-known recording.

  • @kangarc Duuuude, I meant to thumbs up to you. I pressed the wrong button, I'm sorry!

  • @kangarc well that's not what the credit notes on the cd say. but i guess you're right.

  • Oi' you Daft Punk.. This song is not The Skatalites - Simmer down ...

The voice singing this version is BOB MARLEY, Ya Daft Drunken Punk!

  • Allegedly We were doing it wrong. 0:50

  • Comment removed

  • wailing wailers - simmer down

  • the best ska song !

  • Classic, play it all the time ska reggae whatever you call it I liove it and always will

  • Praise be to G-D Almighty!

Such music is only a blessing from The LO-D

    Creator of us all.

    Rock -Ska on!

    Amen +

  • lol desmond dekker and laurel atikan were ska singers, mofu

  • @PAPAvonNOAH Lol you tard Laurel Atikan made way more Skinhead Reggae then he did Ska, check out Skinheads Are Wrecking The Town, a cover of Desmond Dekker's Lickin Stick also Reggae. Also just to clear this up with everyone, there was no Bob Marley and the Wailers before 1974 it was just The Wailers and on the first Wailers album Bob, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer only sang, they played no instruments and the backing band was The Skatalites which is why the album has a Ska sound.

  • 2 people should control their tempers before hitting the Unlike button.

  • I just saw a crossword puzzle in my newspaper with a word described as a "precursor to reggae" and the answer was none other than ska :)

  • chill

  • He was saying it was Bob Marley's first No 1 hit in Jamaica, which is true.

  • Превосходная песня !

  • Rastaman36 you are a stupid, why do you think that Bob Marley is first, This tthinking is a cheat

  • The Original Wailers (Peter Bunny and Bob) with the legendary Skatalites. Do the ska and do the Reggae and do the Rocksteady!

  • its pathetic wat many people nowadays call ska ....nothing compares to this classic

  • @XxXxFelipeXxXx01 this is original ska broski and the ska now is 3rd wave

  • @XxXxFelipeXxXx01 that is ignorant, music will always progress in different directions, if ppl made music exactly like the music previous to them then music would never progress. Lets just agree that all ska music is ska music and its a good working class music of its times. along with oi!

  • @XxXxFelipeXxXx01 yeah, and the only real rock was recorded in 1955! betchya the Skatalites aren't nearly the ska snobs you are.

  • @XxXxFelipeXxXx01 don't like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones version?
