This is something I just don't get: Why can't Americans relate to their own history in an ironic or even a bit satirical way? Why does it have to be seen as something sacred? You know, I'm German and really grateful for the US politics in WW 2 and the cold war. Believe me, I really am! But does it always have to be treated so seriously? If you are German you have no choice but to see your own history in a very critical or ironic way. Otherwise you're in big trouble and better emigrate... :)
