  • Such a fucking boss

  • Some great harmonica playing by Paul Jones, I saw The Manfreds with Paul Jones some years back, he's still got it!

  • Cool song and Paul Jones is one hell of a harmonica player.

  • sucks to the drummer

  • much better than ramones

  • any one know the lyrics???

  • The history of Western Civilization in under two minutes--WOW!

  • töll_lEÜté_sûcht_mäl_ÑÁch:_olikohle_Àúf_gOÒglè_vØll_gËÌl

  • The Manfreds appear to have played an important role throughout human history. This is the first I am hearing of this. I am, however, gratified to learn they have had things well in hand to this point in time. Thank you for posting and thank YOU, Manfreds.

  • um dadah um dadah um dadah uwow

  • I laughed at this song for hours

  • Exhaustive research has concluded that this song features several countdowns from 5 to 1.

  • Try Manfred Mann Chapter 3

  • wow how old is this genre of music????

  • The Weekend Starts Here.....

  • @RayNDeere didn't they have the clip of the girls skateboarding down a hill going to this?

    : )

  • I like that part they talk about 5 4 3 2 1... Good song though ;)

  • Yummy. ♪♫♪ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♪♫♪

  • Mmm...chocolate covered wafers.

  • Manfred Mann is the Chuck Norris of music

  • its so funny, the keyboardist looks like pretty much any keyboardist today

  • @scotfreak you mean keyboardists today look like beatniks ~ wow that's retro!

  • I like the part where they go "5-4-3-2-1"

  • Fun song, but lyrics sound like they got the story of the Trojan Horse wrong!

  • @kinksfan1956 You're right, but the lyrics remind me of "the Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. It's a good poem, worth looking up.

  • haha Love the 60s and the Mod times :)

  • When Brian Jones was first forming the Rolling Stones, his first choice of vocalist was Paul Jones, who sings the lead vocals and plays harp on this video. Brian actually asked him to be their singer, but Paul thought Blues would not catch on in Britain and turned him down, so Brian asked Mick Jagger to do it instead. I often wonder what would have happened if Paul had accepted. Would the Sones have succeeded? How would they have sounded? Would Brian still be alive?

  • @Galericulus Don't think they would have produced an album with the word satanic in the title tho' ~ mate of Cliff Richards if you catch my drift.

  • the 'piano' player is Manfred Mann

  • This song was used aas the theme song for "Ready Steady Go" for a while.

  • uh-hu it was the manfreds

  • geiles ding man:D

  • the piano guy's funny. i wood like to have a jonit with him to.

  • @MrMushyhead I don't think he smoked joints. In fact I'm not even sure if Manfred Mann smoked regular cigarettes.

  • I thought it was the Greeks that built the wooden horse not the Trojans.

  • love the music, love the band, but was there ever a more irritating singer than paul jones? could slap him til my fingers went numb

  • @kennethkdj He was a good singer. Still is if it comes to that. He'd have been the Stones singer if Brian jones had got his way.

  • Paul Jones was a hottie all around -- looks, voice, and not a bad harp player either.

    :{}

  • Comment removed

  • huhuhab total bock auf bissl chatn wer will der kann sich ja bei mir melden

  • mmmmm Paul Jones!!! Love it!

  • @TheGayle1875 i thought he was quite cute xxx

  • Hard to believe, Jack Bruce played all their songs without rehearsal.

  • very nice¡¡¡¡

  • it was the manfreds.....tunage, ! nice 1 ♥

  • @han09hague It wasn't the Greeks...that's for sure ...;]

    Those damned Trojan horses.....

  • Manfred, you are so cute!

  • Paul Jones: an attractive man :)

  • i think this song was referring to the 5 people in the band all as a number

  • The song is about "The Charge of the Light Brigade" when 600 British Calvary charged the Russian guns in the crimea war.

  • lol...hard to belive that paul jones was asked to front the rolling stones before jagger...he turned the job down !!

  • I heard it on Heartbeat today xD

  • sounds like the ramones

  • Great live performance!

  • It almost like a beginner to Angel Stations, Angels at my Gate, 58,56,54, Good angels at my door....

A really great unique band from the 70:s

  • The lead singer John Paul Jones was a character. Great blues voice and a wonderful sense of humor.

He starred in a sixties movie called"Privilage". Got to see this band live in Falkirk, Scotland. Unforunately the PA crapped out early in the show

  • Really for Mr. Manfred. He can really play!!

  • That was probably From SHINDIG-1964,right?

  • 5.4.3.2.1. uh uh its the manfreds

  • Woot, Woot, go Manfred!

  • I bet they were like sex icons in the 60s.

  • The tune is in F. So try the F and the Bb !

  • @TheRetroDude Why not write to him and ask him at the BBC Manchester? He hosted a Blues programme there on Thursday evenings for a long time (maybe still does?). Whether he still hosts the programme or not, they will be sure to know where to forward your letter.

  • hehe yeah, although i think the keyboardist looks more retarded when he tries to eat the microphone at 1:27 :p

  • That's Manfred himself. I think he's quite cute!

  • Does anyone remember the 80's advert for 5-4-3-2-1 chocolate bar 'blahblahblah, in milk chocolate 5-4-3-2-1..' haha

  • yes i do, i loved the tune now heres the real song wooot

  • Yes. Also the Beach Boys' "bar bar bar, bar bar 'o' Club." Do they still make Club biscuits? I remember liking the orange ones.

  • Manfred Mann roooocks! Love 'em.

  • It's so sexy!!!!!

  • take me back to a time i dont know when.

  • very creative lyrics lol

  • nah, you are

  • Gay as in the opposite of creative? Your logic eludes me.

  • This Rocks... We are the MODDS! :)

  • AAAAAAAhhhhhhhh Ready, Steady, GO!'s

    hehe... ♥

  • ♥♫5♫4♫3♫2♫1♫♥

  • You is obviously expert

    in these matters,but....

you should hear the studio recording,

they used it from 63 till 66 as

theme tune for Ready Steady Go !

It kicked back than,& still does.

  • Actually, they changed it towards the end to "Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble"

At the beginning of the first series it was "Wipe Out"

  • This section is meant for comments on the song, not your life

  • the drummer in this band was really good

  • vitgrad2011

44 years the lead singer Paul Jones is still performing and looks almost as young as he does here. Seriously.

  • in a way this kinda has a little SKA beat to it

  • omg, does anyone else think that he is hot? i wish i was a teenager then!

  • omg, does anyone else think that he is hot? i wish i was a teenager then!

  • do you have any more manfred mann videos with paul jones?

  • To think I wasn't even born when this was recorded. Not even thought of, not even a twinkle in my parents' eyes!

  • So jazzy funky organ harmonica and choppy guitar chords freakin awsome sound!!!! love this song

  • Paul Jones doesn't look that much different today!

  • Has a bit of new wave, punk, and ska. Good song.

  • Ok,I love Manfred Mann, but this takes me back to when I was an embryo. :/

  • SAVE THE CHEERLEADER SAVE THE WORLD

  • My earliest musical memories are of "Ready Steady Go" on Friday teatimes (no school next day!).

This song still conjures up memories of Cathy McGowan, with her big hair, declaring everything played was "really fab".

Paul Jones is still a great blues artist and a "really fab" broadcaster on the subject.

  • Some of the "deepest" lyrics to emerge from the 60s.

  • hi what does he sing after the line "Down the valley on there horses they thundered???. Like to know cos im learnin this on my guitar and harmonica. Thanks

  • "Ah but once they're down they really blundered "

  • I can't quite make it out but it's something about someone who really blundered and it refers to the Charge of the Light Brigade (600)- a disasterous military engagement during the Crimean War 1854-56 where - check out Tennyson's poem.

  • how did you make that out then?

please, enlighten us with you're logic

  • I don't know, maybe it is just me (most likely is) but the singer here reminds me strongly of Robin Williams for some odd reason. I see the singer and Robin's name and face pop into my head.

  • I guess it's just you :-))

  • I was thinking...what's his name, the 1st singer of Van Halen?

  • Shindig was a great show. Lots of great groups on it.

  • awesome

  • So ahead of their time, simply brilliant!

  • Wow! They sound great live!

  • Most bands at that time sounded great live .... you had to build a solid reputation as stage performers before you got even the sniff of a recording contract!

  • you what

  • hey .. what performance or show did this come from

  • This is from the great US TV show Shindig! The Manfreds also played "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" and "Sha la la" on this show, where many of the acts actually played live.

  • HIYA this was the intro music to " READY STEADY GO" 1960's music programme

  • thats right i forgot about - they had another song too to replace that GOT MY MOJO WORKING
